  1. Maybe if he was straight with his peers and didn't go running to the Management Committee every 5 minutes and had earned his place on that Committee his peers wouldn't treat him as a backstabbing little wanabee
  2. In your desire to nit-pick in the classic boring Poole way I think you're totally missing the point MILLIONS will inadvertantly sing "Queen" for quite a while as its etched on their subconscience Plymouth did not have a fixture until last night since Queen died, the minutes silence was for "the Queen" again, was it wrong to use the words that had been relevant for her since 1952. It''s a bloody good job they didn't play the second verse , that would have been "way too long"
  3. You'll have to excuse many of us older Speedway fans for singing "Queen" bymistake, many i know were born and have never changed since the late days of the Victorian era.
  4. Roynon rides for their ndl team and spanners regular there I think. Speedway updates seem to think Poole dirty tricks. Pulling Hans out Not sure how?
  5. Come on admit it. You're all the ginger whiner Middle ditch, writing as fast as he talks and typical of his drivel
  6. They certainly aren't planning on making it easy. Good old fashioned passionate promoting and journalism Good Luck to Plymouth, I'm sure most neutral observers will be hoping for the miracle. https://plymouth-speedway.com/meeting-preview-the-gladiators-v-the-pirates-playoff-qf/
  7. I think the respectful thing to do would be to wait for today's events to finish don't you? Plymouth is a Naval City after all is isn't it? Full of service families and ex service families. Besides they probably wanted to finalise team after British Final re Nicholls.
  8. It's a far better track to stage a British Final on than Monmore Green for sure. Let's not forget also that we all used to go to Brandon every year knowing we could fill our programmes in half way down the back straight first lap and barely see a pass all night. Brandon was probably too well prepared, Monmore just a trick shape.
  9. Fate may help Brennan in the long run. Getting experience on 2 fast bigger Polish style tracks like Belle Vue and Glasgow. No disrespect but he'd not have done that if his main track was still a small trick track. He's also got very professional support now from Craig Cummings who is full of GP know how and global contacts. Beginning to show in his marked improvement.
  10. As we know things can change in an instant with injuries. Poole and Leicester have been relatively injury free all season, especially Poole. Edinburgh, Glasgow , Redcar , Plymouth haven't. Nothing can be taken for granted especially with the ruling that Guests in Play Offs can only come from the 4 Clubs that didn't qualify!
  11. 100% In recent times all Clubs joing have had huge start up costs that often aren't publicised. Certainly Birmingham and Eastbourne in 2019 when moving up would have been in excess of 40k , Kent when moving up in 2020 although Lens "asset list" would have helped, Plymouth in 2021 the same although may have been eased only by Somerset late notfication to close, Brummies again when Masons left (understandably) and NT came in, meaning double whammy for Brummies from what Masons had to pay and then NT again I gather (as the issues with previous Brummies promotion in mid last decade didn't help too. Ditto all of that with Newcastle. What message does that give to anyone wanting to make something happen (as you rightly say Steve and with obvious experiences). It's all blamed on the Promotions that fail, or in some cases those that build teams that won't fail but on a shoestring but who don't have competitive teams as a result. A viscious circle, they to compete and over-spend and fail, or try to budget, be uncompetitive and fail. Godfrey is very honest about the way he runs Scunthorpe and it works for him, Bates brothers have openly admitted losing tens of thousands initially at Leicester but have deep pockets, deeper it seems than Owners at other Clubs who ran out of cash, it's good for us at Birmingham that Nigel seems determined to try again in 2023 but he's openly admitted in Speedway Star that his Company was covering costs from very early in 2022 and that the Club has lost a 6 figure sum so far. I don't know whether he's right to risk doing another season or not, only he does, but it simply isn't a sustainable business model. Individuals are responsible for their own affairs and live or die by them, but the SPORT and DIRECTORS of The Sport e.g the Management Committee really do need to wake up and smell the coffee and actually have the balls to create a Platform from which more existing Clubs, more returning Clubs and new Clubs have a chance of survival, stability and growth. It makes all the more remarkable the success of Oxford as an example, but how do we define success? Survival? Spending more than you earn and getting away with it year by year and hanging on? Having endless pockets and happy to support it like some (Glasgow and Leicester as an example)? Being one of the reducing few with the history and sustainability to contine (BV / Poole / Ipswich as examples)? Where though is "The Plan"....like the Poles have. Answer is "there is no plan" is there?
  12. The issue at Poole is that some of the locals are most unwelcoming and frankly rude! They seem to think they have a divine right to win and come across as extremely arrogant. Bullies don't like it up em! God Knows what Speedway fans these days would make of the likes of Soldier Boy (Belle Vue) and their support which was always large numbers, or some of the more rauccous but at heart harmless but enthusastic Cradley and Wolves fans who used to create atmosphere wherever they went. At CL level in the past few years the Scottish Clubs and Leicester stand out in terms of away support in numbers and some good old fashioned passionate support.
  13. Suspect you may need your dentist on speed dial if you repeated that in front of Gary May or Mark Phillips. They've repeatedly said they've tried numerous options. Some had Swedish commitments, some wanted silly money, some couldn't get Visas and at least one PL rider was refused by his Promoter who is on Management Committee according to various comments made on here by people on the know. Plus they replaced Gilkes and Bowtell and Atkins didn't they?? Morley, Complin and McGurk then Coles.
  14. May be Shovlar dropped his phone, or someone wanted to give Shovlars phone to Lawson
  15. Very enjoyable meeting. Saw some old faces not seen in a while Thank You all concerned at Brummies Fingers crossed for 2023.
  16. That's exactly what happened in 2019 Brummies and Eagles went up and from figures quoted (certainly at Brummies and Eastbourne would have been similar) by time you've paid the Bond, the Asset List and other add on's that seem to be variable, you were looking then at around £30,000.00 before you are allowed in. I remember well the "pending" status Brummies were given all winter 18 in to 19 and then suddenlt in late February both Clubs were "in". No time really to plan properly and new entrants start on the back foot. It makes the success of Oxford all the more remarkable and praise worthy but in some ways they are helped by attracting Oxford, Reading, Swindon and Coventry fans. I know from what's been said the Masons struggled in 2019 but got through it, they struggled massively week by week in 2021 and were at their wits end by the end of the season physically and mentally . At least they made it to the end when Eastbourne didn't and Newcastle, who also had a new Promoter for 2021 and issues all 2021 and didn't finish in 2022. Kent had to pay over the odds too but had the legend that is Len Slver to guide them. Nigel (Tolley) has had to spend well north of £100,000 to set up and survive 2022 and by this time next year no doubt that could be double that. Money that enthusiasts who try to keep Speedway Clubs going once set up simply can't afford. Neila has hit the nail on the head. Only a very rich man or consortium can now afford to start in CL . They don't get Eurosport money like PL do and it remains to be seen what British Speedway Network can distribute, if its 10k a Club it would be a massive boost but you have to factor in if clubs have actually lost walk up on nights BSF are there? The new Workington set up looks superb and if it can go in to NDL and take small steps it can hopefully thrive. It's good to see Mildenhall and Kent hanging in there too at NDL level and whilst it would be great to see IOW v=back, why should they risk it, when their new product does well for them and they don't have the muppets at Rugby to answer too.
  17. I think you mistake that for them responding to constant bullshine from one specific agent provocateur.
  18. Did it never rain at Lakeside? Plymouth just been unlucky with torrential rain around match days. It's happened to all Clubs at some point. One time not long ago it only ever seemed to rain in Brum on a Wednesday.
  19. Any truth in the rumour Friday was a no-go as Danny was popping over to the Chateau so that papa could cut his hair?
  20. Fascinating read re the Upright Weslakes and the modern lay down abberations. I never cease to be amazed to see younger riders sat on the start line revving the balls off the engine and then going off the start line at half the revs as they can't ride the bikes properly. I guess the transition from upright to lay down back in the day was far easier for the riders of that era as the modern bikes are far easier to ride than the older uprights that required throttle control. Certainly I found racing far more entertaining in the late 70's to late 80's.
  21. So you want another few hundred people to fork out to go somewhere when there is not a cat in hells chance of the meeting taking place, in the remote possibility that it could that it may be dangerous for riders, be a terrible spectacle for supporters and be a financial disaster for the Club as everyone living within 30 miles would not bother going as they would have been watching rain fall for hours.
  22. He can't get in to Cornwall on the A38 - His head won't fit in the Tunnel!
  23. Are you referring to the hundreds (no doubt you'll argue 10,000) that made an unnecessary trip to poole last week spending lots in unnecessary fuel to stand outside, get soaked, realise that it was inevitable and should have been called off that morning and then watch the track staff hopelessly incapable of doing anything about it....
