  1. Looks like IOW. Government has offered a big ex Prison Ferry to run from Portland to IOW every Wednesday. They'll give migrants a night out if they buddy up with a Poole fan.
  2. Rider leaves his team literally up s**t creek without a paddle... He could have come to Brum, more miles of Canal than Venice and a lot less smelly.
  3. Do feel sorry for Plymouth Speedway that the local Soccer Team is one of the most progressive outside top 2 tiers and likely to go up to Championship and the Basketball Team doing well too. If footy team do go up likely to sell 20,000 season tickets and have massive local media interest. No idea what Plymouth break even is but hopefully their crowd builds up as it warms up weather wise. I do wonder if Saturdays may work for them in summer months especially with no footy? Also they streamed every meeting last year and is that counter productive and made some walk up support a bit lazy? . A group of 3 adults is 60 quid through gate yet probably a fiver profit from stream. A hundred like that is £1500 from your top line before they've had food and drink every meeting.
  4. Since the days of Charles Ochiltree at Coventry I've always thought you can make a track too perfect that it becomes a motorway. It's also the case that high winds dry tracks out more quickly than hit sun sometimes. It wasn't a good watch but a trackman is pilloried for over watering and pilloried for not watering enough. As for ripped starts, many do it, some more blatantly than others. Having ridden at Leicester both Worrall and Howarth really can't complain about biased ripped starts. On this occasion I don't think Poole did anything wrong.
  5. Disappointing result No lack of effort Some good Racing especially Team Riding from Nick Morris with Bowtell Scunny just had too much and deserved winners. Shame we didn't keep Paco as Neilsen and Proctor dire. Pearson has improved a lot. Entertaining night overall decent Crowd. Hopefully all will be back and bring some friends.
  6. Manchester will always be the 8th biggest City in England by population. Cheating with the "Greater" bit just doesn't cut it lol...
  7. Weather looks dry if a bit chilly so lets hope hundreds wrap up and get down to PB tonight to support Nigel and Laurence and the team. Lets not forget those Tracks that have closed / are closing and that Speedway Racing and entertainment is far more important in the bigger scheme of things than win at all costs and breaking the bank.
  8. Thanks for the update. I have driven down A5 past there many times and its accessibility to Motorway Network always intrigued me. I remember the Long Track at Chasewater and Norton Canes was mentioned a few times as an option when the Dogs ran there and as you say they are either side of the A5, I guess may be Brownhills is the nearest sizable Town or is it closer to Cannock? I suppose you could say its 30 mins away from some decent population areas but also 15 mins away from nowwhere and in the middle of nowhere in terms of the Local Councils (guessing Cannock / Walsall / Lichfield ??)
  9. Wolverhampton race track has Housing that surrounds it. Better chance may be old Chasewater site or old Norton Canes dog track site but they may be developed now too.
  10. Big rivals and not my favourites far from it and an awful track. Desperately sad and devastating nonetheless for Wolves fans, speedway in general and above all Chris Van Stratten. An honourable and decent man who has sport in his blood.
  11. I fear from rumours that there are 3 Clubs in that list that may not be around in 2024. They don't include Workington. A couple due to possible planning / development concerns and one due to disenchantment of promotion.
  12. Wasn't there talk if a track in Southampton a few years back albeit for Training purposes. Not too far away is it?? down the M27
  13. With respect though I think you're still slightly missing the point. If Speedway is told it can't use the Stadium for say 2 weeks solid on a few occasions but can still have access to fit in a full season, that's surely better than no Speedway at all. An Entertainment License may bring in Events that would want security of tenancy for very specific periods and that includes set up and clear up. The case to save Speedway may be that they have to be far more flexible than in the past. If they decamp to IOW, Eastbourne, Ringwood or anywhere else it would be a massive upheaval and surely lose significant supporter base.
  14. Logically surely Speedway should be SUPPORTING License Application for other Events and getting Poole Supporters to actively CAMPAIGN for it! Stadium Owners want / need to increase Stadium use and Rentals! Speedway CANNOT AFFORD to be sole income Stream as Rent would be impossible to afford, hence Poole Speedway are sounding out alternative options Surely Music / Entertainment Events will only act as Marketing opportunity for Speedway bring people in to Stadium who have no idea its there! Speedway is fast becoming a 16 - 20 week a Year Sport, even if someone wanted to Hire Stadium for say a week, including Wednesday, Speedway could easily work around it. Race away fixtures at Oxford and Birmingham those weeks being blatantly obvious option. Chance for Speedway to embrace these plans not oppose them, that's the wrong mentality.
  15. Each team covers their own expenses which always hits away team harder. Oxford will bank all online ticket sales and most will use for rearranged. Plymouth will have to pay for tonight travel and rearrange match out of their own accounts.
  16. Any truth in the rumour Scott Nicholls and Ben Barker tested positive as pregnant and both teams walked out?
  17. Off 10 mins b4 start. Rank bad customer service.
  18. There is a very nice ex Speedway track, recently shaled sat right between Peterborough and Coventry. Just under an hour from each and untapped potential from Northampton. Surprising no one has had a look at Braefield.
  19. Craig is craig, his issues are well documented and no need to go over them. When he's good he's not only a fantastic Speedway Rider he is also one of the most affable and approachable guys you could wish to meet. When he's not good he can be an absolute dick and be someone you'd be best to steer well clear of. Unlike other illnesses that can cause you to have good and bad days like Migraine, IBS , Gout etc etc, mental illness is not immediately visible and try as they might those who suffer from it can't always control it. That's the nature of the beast of mental illness. I don't make excuses for the guy and I don't think he'd make excuses for himself. I'm sure though that he and millions of others who suffer from it would like a magic cure.
  20. Going from meeting to meeting one night after another zigzagging up the country is surely anything but random. Random is picking a match in early April and then may be not doing another until mid May and mixing number and locations. Did they check mobile phones at Poole?
  21. Plymouth are excellent on Facebook, both Club and Private Supporter Group and their TV Channel. Websites are so 20 noughties and early teens. Cost too much to do properly and time consuming. Apps and social media is the way to go. A few thousand words preview and review are 1999 too many for most to read.
  22. Harder on a bike than on a keyboard. I recall a certain B Penhall used to have problems with exit to Pits turn at Cradley. One error accidentally caused terrible injuries to Steve Clarke of Rye House who demolished Starting Gate trying to avoid Penhall. Not sure J Turner is the next Penhall but give the guy a chance. Seems he can definitely make good starts.
  23. There may be 2 positive avenues to progress here (1) the fact that with a core motor package you can quite easily tune it to have equivalent higher output. So a young rider could be a 125 or 250 tuned electric engine and then reset it to the equivalent of a 500cc power output. Potentially a MASSIVE saving long term although I am not sure how wasy it would be to "police over-sized". (2) It may really open up INDOOR venues. I remember the 1979NEC Meeting with a world class field basically on a rubber floor with slick tyres but a very big crowd. I'd think an Indoor Series based in UK or Europe using electric bikes could be a massive boost for Oval Racing / Speedway. Back in 1979 there was the NEC and that was about it, look at every major City now and you have Indoor venues that could accomodate up to 10000 seats and a 250-300 metre track in various configurations.
  24. I've no idea and it's not relevant to Oxford. Maybe you should shine the torch up Danny's back passage and see if he replies in morse code after asking the Brum Promotion for you.
