Somerset v Scunthorpe 03/07/19
CountyGround replied to idh's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Looked to me that Scunny were missing a team manager, with R/R for Neilsen this should have been planed beforehand, but was used somewhat shambolic! -
Rebels Vs Lions 19th June 19
CountyGround replied to Fred5's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I would like to see this meeting on (weather permitting) & kick start the Rebels season........... I'm only just getting accustomed to our mainly adopted team. Racing is good but we need larger crowds to create an atmosphere & earn the promotion a quid or 2! -
One of the many problems with G.B. Speedway these last few years is the supply of decent quality shale. It's my own felling that historical bad debts from various promotions the few Quarrys that have the good shale that tracks need are unwilling to sell it to those "speedway promoters" or just say we've run-out!!!!! What's now needed @ Plymouth is positive thinking all round, get in an experienced track man, magic wheel, decent shale - whatever it takes to sort the problem out. Plymouth is a potential gold mine if everything is in place..............

Great gesture from Tommy, surely the thing to do would put a sensible reserve on all items. Any item not making the reserve then place it on evil-bay............

May be the move is to save on travel cost?

Matt is one of the better "Promoters" however you can be sure what ever league set-up we have - by hook or crook Poole will be one of the top teams! Chopping & changing teams mid term favors the better off teams & adds to cost all round, team changes should not be allowed other than injury or retirement & with full independent approval!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it will never happen of course..

I wonder what sort of season we would be having had the fans choice of: Jake Allen, Charles Wright & Bradley Wilson Dean had been included in the 2019 team? They all have carried on improving & scoring plenty of points. There are defiantly some missing faces in the crowd..........

Truth is someone is eating a rather large humble pie!
-
It's not just Somerset, the "we must reach the play-off" mentality of all promoters is killing Speedway........... but promoters cannot see it.

Ben Fund Bonanza 2019
CountyGround replied to Al Stewart's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Well said, we all know who they are! Good luck to everyone for tomorrow especially "Ben Ten" Barker who's commitment to BRBF is unmatched by any other rider. -

Play off contenders
CountyGround replied to Tigerforever's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
PLAY OFF CONTENDERS Is it only me that I can see no point of the "Play offs" were they not introduced for the benefit of Sky ref. the Elite league? The Championship "Play off" winners won't be getting promoted the following year, so whats the point! I would rather see an end of season K. O. Cup. I've said it before but I think the promoters have taken their eye off the main event, I think we the supporters want weekly entertainment. The Promoters put all their efforts into winning maximum league points by any method with entertainment & good speedway not top of their shopping list...... -
Lot's of mention on here of the May deals, what about the ones that failed to land the signatures of crowd favorites: Wright, B.W.D or Allen!!!!!!!!!

Hard Riders Of The Past Any Thoughts?
CountyGround replied to Sidney the robin's topic in Years Gone By
Jack Millen stands out a mile over all others off & on track..........hard as nails on both.....underrated as a rider.........yet a great bloke taken to early, RIP crazy jack. -
With due respect to Simon Lambert, if we're not going for an Aussie I would rather see the likes of Nathan Stoneman or simular young british talent. Build a club asset base.
-
Maybe we could get a talented Aussie, time to speak to Lemmo?

Thank you to the BSPA
CountyGround replied to Dave Stummings's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Great news! the BSPA have started the ball rolling how to get G.B. speedway back on it's feet: Replace the easily recognised Yellow & Black helmet colour with the less obvious solid Yellow. -
As I've stated on other replies the PLAY OFFS should be scraped, they served a purpose once for sky, but no longer attract the fans or media they once did. Promoters have taken their eye off the main event, fans want weekly speedway, a team they can relate to & be entertained with good close racing. Little or no guest & a fixture list compiled by someone some credibility............PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!
