  1. The Lions should only go with one of the Thompson's as this proved to be the weakest link this season when it came to the crunch. They've both improved and will improve again but I don't think it will be enough to bring the silverware home as you really need a reserve that can turn into a big hitter both home and away. Rising star as also been lifted in the Championship which will only add more pressure on them.
  2. CONGRATULATIONS to all at Oxford for bringing speedway back to Sandy Lane. As with several other clubs that have returned after being dormant for many years it just goes to show that 'keeping the faith' is extremely important and I fully understand as I attend monthly SOS meetings in Long Eaton. Look forward to visiting Sandy Lane once again when we Pirates are in town
  3. Won't stop me travelling to the Pirate Ship from Long Eaton, I shall whizz straight past Oxford when Pirates are at home. I'm looking forward tho to goin to Sandy Lane as a Pirate! Bring it On
  4. Who says the rest of the team wud av to be made up like that. So long as it doesn't go over 42 it can be other combinations to what you have stated. And won't the rising star be less than 4? Dunno. King, Worrall, Ben & Zach Cook I understand are certs for Poole wotever they add up to?
  5. The last 'Batch' that went out to club's was found to be faulty so was recalled by the authorities!
  6. Hope Scotty isn't designing the race suits, thats if he's taking inspiration from his shirts!
  7. I dunno sum lazy folk about, be about me 9 - 930 for me! Then it's a trip to the newsagents to get the speedway star followed by a Costs
  8. Looking forward to the Poole vs Leicester battles again especially as me mates are Lions fans! Costa Long Eaton on Monday afternoon had a hot chocolate Lion vs a flat white Pirate in the Battle of El Muffin!
  9. Hope they are not sticking to the 2 riding stars per team plan. While it's ok in theory there are not enough riders of the required ability to fill these spots. Even if they do initially fill these spots the problem then arises of finding replacement rising stars for injured riders or those that may quit.
  10. CVS himself as said himself that Wolves were close to folding and maybe they could still be in that position. But as we know they are sadly not unique to be in that position and all clubs are under threat for one reason or another not just finance. No club is immune to closing. CVS as also stated he won't run unless there is an expansion of the league. Look at Swedish speedway, according to the Star a couple of weeks ago it's basically collapsing in on itself. I remember at Long Eaton where most of the time we lived from season to season and probably most ironically looked forward to the last meeting of the season to find out if we were running the following season. That's speedway, always as been and always will be?? Unless your in Poland but then again it will av a knock on effect over there as well because the riders wont be coming through.
  11. All the best to everyone at Birmingham and I hope the consortium are successful in keeping the Brummies on track.
  12. Hope every thing comes together at Northside as I've enjoyed many a trip up to Workington and made some friends with fans from there on the trip to Bydgoszcz in 2000 to see Mark Loram crowned World Champion.
  13. For some it's not always about how much money they ride for it's also about track time. And next season Sweden, as reported in the Star, won't be able to afford to av the line ups of star riders that they've previously had in teams. Hence some of them could seek to ride in the UK next season like Doyle.
  14. Possibly was due to covid but if clubs av lost a fortune they may not be able to operate at the same level for the foreseeable future. Speedway Star painted a pretty grim picture of Swedish speedway. Elitserien winners Dackarna cud only attract 989 to the home leg of the Grand Final with a top 5 of Woffinden, Doyle, Janowski, Thorssell & Jensen. No wonder the money isn't there, is that partly why Doyle left? Dunno, I'm going by what was reported.
  15. Was thinking of going but was too soon after lifting of covid restrictions if I remember rightly. But great to hear that it was a cracking meeting, Let's hope it won't be too long before Kent get back on track as I'll be visiting even if they're in a different league to Poole.
  16. I hope Kent, or any other club come to that, isn't lost to the sport. I haven't actually been to Central Park but was looking forward to visiting asap as it looks like a fantastic venue. Wish everyone at Kent all the best in keeping the club alive as I only know too well what it's like to lose your local track as I live in Long Eaton.
  17. Maybe the BSPA are paying more attention to due diligence and want to see Oxford build up a solid foundation and reputation with the new management/promotion before allowing them into the Premiership. It's all to easy to allow 'someone' in to save a club, a league etc without a view to a long term existence which the BSPA, imo, have done so many times in the past only for it all to go poop. Ian Jordan & BMR are just 2 examples of many before. Jason Doyle, great to hear that he's coming back to race in the UK and it would be great to see many more of his ilk come back to ride here especially given the financial problems that Swedish speedway is facing with very low crowds as reported in the speedway star a couple of weeks ago. Shocking to see the attendance figures in Sweden & the league structure struggling, I hope things can pick back up over there because in Rickardsson's day it was thriving.
  18. Is that why you call yourself 'spin' king?
  19. Wots ur suggestion then clever d*ck? It's so easy for someone to pull someone else's suggestion apart like a Mr Einstein when they haven't got a constructive plan of their own to suggest. And anyway, my suggestion is far better than some of the hair brained ideas that actually get put into place by the powers that be. Crikey, did an apple hit u on the bonce! Can we av Einstein's law of relatively please, wot goes up must come down.....oh of course that doesn't happen in British Speedway!
  20. Be fantastic to av Ellis back on board the Ship. He'll be on a false average as well given his Scunny performances, plus British reduction.
  21. And I get in as disabled which is £3 off. Not many clubs do a disabled scheme unless they keep it quiet like Leicester do. At Leicester the carer is free for a disabled person with the disabled person paying adult price but no where is this mentioned in their admissions. Don't know why.
  22. Lions 2019 Championship Shield Winners Championship League Winners Pirates 2021 Championship KO Cup Winners Championship League Winners I regularly attend both tracks, as well others, with Leicester being my nearest and I support Poole. The amount of success that both club's av achieved with both doing the double, either side of lockdown, is a remarkable achievement. In fact Lions cud've done the treble if it wasn't for avin to track an under strength side at Eastbourne in the KO Cup. I'd like to wish all at both clubs continued success, but don't mention the Scottish club! .....was a fine ride by Ellis Perks!
