  1. Kevin Pietersen was asked what he like most about the Hundred and his reply said it all, the interaction with the fans. The show that is put on is chalk and cheese in comparison with speedway. The fireworks, the big screens, the light show, music both live and recorded, big entrances for the players. PLUS it's not only shown on Sky but also the occasional match is also shown live on BBC 2!!!!! Just everything makes speedway look boring to the outsider and also to many inside the sport. In 2019 KP Snacks signed a £4million 5 year deal with the ECB to sponsor the competition. Wonder who is the ECB marketing director, speedway could do with him. Speedway come on get your act together.
  2. I remember at Long Eaton once there was a circus in town and Johno went round the track on a camel. That's entertainment, that's entertainment.........i feel a song comin on!
  3. Agree entirely with you. Concentrating on undoing itself could well be achieved by having an independent body running the sport that so many of us keep screaming out for but deaf ears are running the sport. But that would still be reinventing itself if it had independent body. And yes Motogp is on a different level to speedway but speedway wouldn't be asking for the mega money that Motogp presumably gets. Thought Godfrey said they had a high profile marketing person on board who nearly, yes nearly, secured 2 major sponsorships.......ponder ponder righty oh!! What happened to her?
  4. Think we need Eric Boocock to go promoting out in them oil fields again. You prove my point OveFundinFan, money needed to keep speedway seems mahoosive to us mere mortals but to these mega blue chip companies/individuals mainly from the oil industry it's a very miniscule typo on a spreadsheet. I honestly don't get it why speedway can't tap into it.
  5. I like Redcar and Glasgow. Banking is incredible. Hope Bradford comes back for the same reason. If you come to Poole as a rider, can you ride the waves of Wimborne? Good Stevie W can ride the waves coz we wouldn't want Sea Sick Steve performing! Go to Leicester most weeks and they had a massive opportunity to create a an amazing track but instead..... I dunno wot, if any, planning constraints they had with the track like they did with the pits. That's the only thing I can think of as a reason it was rubbish. I think the track had to be laid in the orientation that it is with the pits concealed and no access to the public.
  6. But unless we go there again though.... I do see your point though. As always it's a fantastic sport but badly run. No good the BSPL or promoters (in general) saying otherwise because crowds are dwindling. British speedway needs a big investment from an outside company, as if we didn't know. Surely there's a massive company out there that could write off £2 million plus a year because with the figures that are spent in football this amount would be loose change. Etihad, Fly Emirates, Virgin etc etc, why is it so difficult to speak to these companies. Give me 5 minutes & I'll just give Richard Branson a call or Dickie as I call him
  7. The time is now for speedway to reinvent itself like cricket as done with the 20/20 and the Hundred to bring in the crowds. Keep the traditional structure for league meetings but av a completely different structure for a cup competition. For example, av all the heats handicapped with the the highest average rider on each side in the heat goin off 8 metres. The race is only over 2 laps. Av 25-30 heats to make up for the shorter heats. A tactical rider will av to go off 10metres with 3 permitted at any time apart a reserves heat(s). I dunno, just something where the rules are completely ripped up and something new is born in addition to wot we already know. Cricket is now attracting massive crowds with it's new formats, the excitement of the fast and furious with all the additional razzmatazz is a breathtaking show. But speedway I guess will just dawdle along dragging it's knuckles........ Hey well
  8. Yep, she's that luvvly blonde lady out of Emmerdale!
  9. If u go into a fish and chip you can buy fish and chips. So why is it when I've been into a track shop no one sells a track?! I'm lost on this one!
  10. Maybe we shudnt have any meetings at all and get the all party parliamentary group for speedway to give each club £100,000 and give all the trophies to us the mighty Pirates Then we can all go up the East End av a pub sing along with plenty of booze to wash down the jellied eels!
  11. Thought 18 meetings had been agreed. But no surprise if Eurosport has got fed up with the product because it did sound it had been mis-sold to them from wot the Eurosport chief said in the Star at the beginning of the season.
  12. One thing I have noticed is that when Pearson and Tatum are split up they both become very professional in the commentary box. Tatum did a meeting with Chris Louis and this was top class commentary. I've heard Pearson on some of the Glasgow videos and with the local commentator they again are very professional. Also when Pearson covers the football or the darts again very professional. But.....as soon as you put Pearson and Tatum together they become very childish, talking about things that are totally irrelevant or having childish jibes at each other. We know Tatum couldn't stand Pearson years back when Tatum was still riding and that resentment still exists in my opinion. At times you can feel the knife go in from both sides. Still, I prefer Dave Goddard or Dave Rowe. And during the live shows why don't they interact with fans via twitter, facebook, email etc etc like Dave Goddard does on Premier Sports and Freesports . So at least if they persist with Tatum and Pearson at least it will give them something else to talk about instead of airing their dirty nappies in public!
  13. How can that be so when Eurosport needs a paid subscription to watch and ITV is a free channel.
  14. If we all went around thinkin things would never change then wot sort of society would we live in.
  15. Needs to be back on mainstream tv now that the BBC and ITV have many more channels. Eurosport and BT sport not doing the sport many favours because it's only a small audience, in comparison, that watches those channels no matter what sport is on. Speedway will be on Dave next!
  16. Did anyone force you make such a ridiculous statement. Folk travel all over to watch speedway even when their team isn't involved like myself because we enjoy the sport. Also without our support many clubs would close. Such as at Newcastle, many people travelled there from all over the UK because they wanted to help save Newcastle. Belle Vue, Sheffield, Wolves, Glasgow, Poole, Plymouth fans were amongst others there who travelled so for you to av a pop at people who travel is down right disgusting, worra dumb nuts! Without these very supportive fans Newcastle speedway may now just be the fog on the Tyne!
  17. Well done to the Diamonds for turning things round against Plymouth and excellent news that ur season is secured. I hope that a good sort out over the winter will bring you many more years of speedway..
  18. Wot a load of sh*te!! They've all paid their money at the turnstiles to aid Newcastle speedway in their hour of need. So think again! And I'm a Poole staying in Edinburgh over the weekend, so why shud I come back with such stupid comments!
  19. Here I am at Brough Park and we just crushed the Diamonds into dust! 61-29 the PIRATES ARE BACK ON THE CUT THROAT AGAIN! Up the Speedway League we Pirates go! Well done all the lads. U were off the Charts! All 7 Cannons Fire on board the Pirate Ship! Now for the reserves meeting......only kidding
  20. Reet, me train arriving into a dry Newcastle, well dry now anyways
