  1. What happened to putting sawdust down on a wet track? Back in the day.........many a meeting was saved because of the good old sawdust. Ok, the first 2 or 3 heats were a bit difficult for the riders but after that.....job's a good un.
  2. On me way up to Redcar, well Middlesbrough as it's closer with train & accommodation. Was up there for the British Under 21 Final a few weeks back. Great little set up at Redcar and the track is one of the best. High banking on 3rd 4th bends. Been a few times Going to be a close meeting with cracking racing. Good to see Ben Basso finally over ere & from wot I've seen of him race he certainly battles all the way to the line. Look forward to seeing him make his debut. Pirates with all 7 cannons tuned up.......the Bears may be running to the hills!
  3. Hi Mike

Saw your post about son tickets, have you actually received them because I purchased for last year allowing them to roll over but haven't received anything.

  5. Rugby saying the same as to my suggestion at the start of this topic. Keep the league format, as cricket keeps the county cricket, then totally blow that format into touch with sum quick fire handicap racing for a cup competition. Not rocket science.
  6. Up the Speedway League we Pirates go! Yes folks I appeared on Eurosport at the British Final, think I displayed the Pirates colours quite well as I was clapping at the end of the national anthem C'mon the Pirates!
  7. I appeared on Eurosport tv , fame at last! Good job I wasn't picking me nose! Was emailed a picture of me muggins captured in the posh seats! Eurosport shudve given me heads up coz I wudve put me best lippy & blusher on! Well done to Champion Adam Ellis, once a Pirate always a Pirate And well done to all those that competed in the 2021 British Final. Excellent meeting!
  8. I've gone off the British Final now like the rest of u. Maybe I shud stay in my room instead now!
  9. Rob Godfrey, shudnt he be with Dad's Army at Peterborough! Mind u Godfrey thinks sticking a plaster, as his character played, on things will cure speedway's ills!
  10. Ryan Douglas.... Lugless Douglas Nick Morris...... Morris Minor Danny King..... Don King Rory Schlein...... Out Back Scott Nicholls..... Whoops Scotty Ben Cook..... Head Chef Ben Basso...... Brasso
  11. I'm in the posh seats at Belle Vue tonight Only the best for the PirateShip
  12. Thought this was the thread for the British Final 2021, the thread is being side tracked by recent posts, bit like one of Ronnie Corbett's stories!
  13. In travelodge on Hyde Road, the sun is trying it's best to shine after earlier rain when I was eating luvvly junk food in KFC on Hyde Road All systems GO! C'mon the Pirates riders King, Worrall and ermmmm sorry Rory but Charles Wright is the defending champion. Unless I've missed something wasn't Rory claiming to be British last year, didn't want to be called Roo Boy etc, but now, in the Star, he says he won it as an Australian. Dunno gone are the days when Commonwealth riders were seen to be part of it........controversial??
  14. Speedway now is completely different to when Ivan was riding. British Speedway was the place to ride back then but now as soon as a rider gets a sniff of riding in Poland with the monetary reward on offer who can blame them for staying over there.
  15. Glad I'm not an adult in mind, playing with me yo yo at the British Final tonight, much more interesting!
  16. My apologies, yes Robert Lambert as won the British Final Not my fault it's me brain!
  17. I'm surprised that Lambert isn't in this meeting full stop. Considering he hasn't won it u would've thought he would want to av a crack at it. Tai certainly wouldn't need to practice on the track now as there will be a practice a day or so prior to the SON final. This will also be the same for Robert. It's a shame that they both don't compete in the British Final especially with Robert at the moment. I do understand Tai's reasoning why he doesn't do it and he as a choice. The main thing is the way speedway as developed with for example the Grand Prix and the qualifying system. The British Final, as we know, is no longer a part of the qualifying system so when you've won it 3 times wot is there left to prove especially when he doesn't ride over here anymore.
  18. Bewley is the clear favourite, so much so I'm not sure why it I mentioned it And he's British! Pirates King & Stevie W should be up there along with defending champion Wright. Whoops, me boomerang didn't come back!
  19. Wot a complete and utter numbnuts! So your telling me that British Speedway is being run in the right way? I would like the IOW to come come back to the National League bringing along the show that they put on. I haven't been but I know Martin Widman well as a personal friend as he takes time to come along to the Long Eaton SOS meetings. The effort they put in to get the show on is to be applauded. Whether you stay for the whole show or not is personal choice, I remember when folk drifted away after heat 13, back in the day, before the 2nd half. Pre meeting, during the meeting and after the meeting entertainment......simples really. Well done Martin & Barry, uve battled well against bureacy! Applaud, applaud, applaud
  20. Charlie Webster is very 'appeal' ing to the eye, if I appeal to her many times then does that means she'll agree to marry me?
  21. Isn't a change of race day possible for Newcastle? But with Edinburgh, Glasgow & Berwick having a say on the weekend I think I've answered my own question.
