  1. Hyde Park? Must admit I would have loved to have gone to a Wembley world final especially '81 which was arguably the greatest of all finals. Comparing the old Wembley with anywhere else is always like comparing night with day. Went there for football but sadly the speedway was no longer there.
  2. Different tracks in the Premiership , maybe Steve not so good on those? That said he did have an excellent British Final at the NSS.
  3. Wish USA still had some world class riders. Let's hope those currently riding can step it up in the next couple of years. Maybe Wilbur Hancock will be the next big American Never forget Ronnie Correy riding for my home town Long Eaton in '95. That was awesome.
  4. True with BSI the flagship was/is Cardiff but now that Warsaw as come along with a sell out 50.000 maybe other UK stadia could be looked at. If it stays at Cardiff I will still enjoy going there just.......the lure of using a London stadium raises the bar again for me. More people would travel there than to Cardiff.
  5. I loved watching Gerald Short , give him some boards and he would ride 'em! He'd be great riding the Waves of Wimborne Road with a 'surf' board!
  6. Good point, but would also like to know your thoughts on staying at Cardiff or not
  7. They dig the start up to get the spuds out ready for my cheese & beans Yum yum in me tum tum
  8. I went to Bradford '85 and it was a fantastic spectacle but only half or 2 thirds of the riders in one off world finals were of the required level. That's why the BLRC was often referred to as having a stronger field than a world final. The GP's are better although I would have the winner of each of the top 6 country's national title (Poland, Russia, Australia, GB, Sweden & Denmark) to qualify for the full series. If the national champion is already in the GP then that place should revert to a wildcard pick from any nation. This could also give more encouragement to riders who don't ride in their national championship to come back
  9. I have enjoyed going to Cardiff over the years & I've been at least a dozen times staying over on both Friday and Saturday nights. I'm not sure how many years there is left on the contract but with new right's holders coming in isn't it time to look to move away from there? I say this because I believe staging a GP in London will give the sport as a whole a massive boost. Take the London Stadium where West Ham play that could 'easily' be converted to speedway with the shape of wot was the athletics track. Plus the capacity is lower so it won't look so empty. There are many other stadia that could be used especially if it's goin to end up as the double GPs, NSS, Bradford & stadia in London etc..... I can't see that a double GP in Cardiff would work financially as it already appears that even in Poland that less attend on the first day. And it still seems odd that there is a GP in a country, Wales, that doesn't even have any league speedway. So as much as I've enjoyed Cardiff maybe it's time to move on????
  10. Nothing more, nothing less, PIRATES ARE THE BEST! Suggs says, "I say old chap that's one step beyond, excellent!"
  11. Ride the Waves of Wimborne Road The Pirates are Men of War with all 7 canons firing! You know somet I don't half fancy a hot dog
  12. I was watching from bend one and both me & a mate said all 4 back before ref exc Keleher. We couldn't believe that Keleher was exc. Clear first bend bunching.
  13. Just watched the GP. Glad I didn't watch it live as I was at Leicester v Plymouth, yep I'm not like some who don't go to their local track when speedway is on tv at the same time. The GP was total and utter garbage! Shocking track, shocking camera work, and add in everything else Pearson & Tatum doin their usual Bill & Ben the flower pot men double act, oh my total crappo! That said it was good to see Tai have a better night but then the track even got the better of him in the end. Was better to be at Leicester & watching young Dan Thompson passing and beating GP legend Crump Crumpy may be a long way from what he was but I'm sure Dan will be well made up with that one. Well done Dan
  14. Ride the Waves of Wimborne if you DARE! Good job Worrall isn't Sea Sick Steve!
  15. Congrats to Pirates on winning at Edinburgh. Wish the original fixture wasn't washed out as I couldn't make it this time. But well done lads on the 4 points, almost into the semi-finals. Basso on the Gasso!
  16. Funny you should say that because me and my mate think and hope that. I'm the Poole fan and he's the Lion, Leicester is our local track. Always enjoy my visits to Redcar, great set up. Been twice this year, the Under 21 Final and when Poole visited Many other tracks should follow your example, the 3rd and 4th bend banking is mind boggling. Basso the Gasso certainly loved the track and he'd never seen any UK track before. Plenty of success to all at Redcar
  17. Sadly as we know speedway is a numbers game. I thought Anders may have performed better than he as given how he had been riding in Poland. That said he as a big future and I feel Redcar have only made a short term gain with the changes. This will only fire Anders up more to do better at Edinburgh?......if that's where he's gone. Ryan Kinsley......I wouldn't like to be him as he seems to be being used to make up the numbers first at Lynn now at Redcar.
  18. Bank Holiday meeting Aces v Leicester a few years back was a cracking meeting. Although Aces hit 60 points the racing was off the charts! Even my mate, who is a Lions fan, went to the NSS for the first time and remarked how much he had enjoyed it despite the score. Any track can have it's duff meetings I guess, wasn't a fan of Kirky Lane altho when Mark Burrows held off Tomasz Gollob for 3 laps there in '98 that's something that I'll never forget.
  19. The track at the NSS is arguably the best in world speedway. I'm just blown away each time I go there with the quality of racing, the passing & the moves pulled. Don't get me wrong I go to other tracks in GB and see some fantastic racing but for me the NSS is a solid 10 With the weather at least with an earlier start time it gives an option to delay if the rain falls 'at the right time'! Rain or not I guess your gonna need your thermals, yer Long John's and yer Nora Batty's
  20. there is a search facility for your emails, put in 'speedway of nations' or email ukhelpdesk@tickets.com with your details and they will send you a link to your tickets. I had to email them to confirm I still had the tickets and they sent me a link to print mine off last week. Hope this helps.
  21. Ride the Waves of Wimborne Road Pirates don't get seasick but the opposition do! Altho Basso on the Gasso may need to hang his head over starboard side for a bit longer by the sounds of it!
