I go bend one at the front, great for getting covered in sh**..... shale! All part of the fun when attending speedway, the sound, smell & getting covered in shale! Especially as there's no greyhound track u will get hit by shale on the bends. The odd piece of stone can whack u in the face. Unless u want a seat in the stands or be along the front it doesn't really get too crowded to choose where u want to go.

I wonder if the BCP council had 4 men around that hole & only one working on it?! -

Appreciate your suggestion But the Play Offs now take priority with the Pirates all but secured a top 2 place. I've been to many of the away meetings including the Northern Tour so lookin forward to the business end -

Shame to hear about Stefan, top rider & a top gentleman. Here's to a speedy recovery Sadly I can't make it to Wimborne Road tomorrow due to costs of accommodation. Being on a Friday most places want you booking at least 2 nights as well. But come the play offs I'll be down there & maybe for the 2nd leg of the Cup Semi Final against Leicester. Plus the cup final of course......well we are the Pirates! .....wish the Towngate guest house was still a guest house on Wimborne Road, was a home from home for me with lovely people that ran it. Of everywhere I've stayed nothing else beats it, was off the charts -

CARDIFF to be or not to be?

A 2 day GP at the NSS would easily sell out and the atmosphere would be Bonkers. 2 day events could be the future, can't see that working at Cardiff as I believe the attendance would drop dramatically. -
CARDIFF to be or not to be?

It's usually far better having a FULL stadium even if the capacity is far lower as it will be for the SON in terms of creating an atmosphere. The atmosphere will be as good if not better than holding a meeting at a stadium that isn't half full!!!!! If the circa 40,000 at Cardiff was held in a stadium with a capacity of 40,000 then the atmosphere would far surpass Cardiff. Don't get me wrong the atmosphere at Cardiff is amazing but just imagine how much better it would be if the attendance met capacity. Smaller capacity for SON who cares? Atmosphere is more important! -

Exactly, what is all the banging on about a roof for? Obviously it can save a meeting being from rained off but if BSI & now Discovery went everywhere demanding a roof then they wouldn't get very far in staging a GP in a posh stadium. Could always stage a GP on centre court at Wimbledon I guess?! And no it wasn't my brainy idea to have the SON at Belle Vue in October, but you know something there will still be a full house there including me! -
CARDIFF to be or not to be?

Sometimes despite something's popularity it's still worth looking at other options to move it forward. Speedway itself was popular at one time but other options have not been explored to keep it that way. 40000 at Cardiff,? I inderstand officially it to be nearer 30,000 - 35,000 , but anyways why not go for 60000 by relocating??? I enjoy Cardiff but I'm sure a lot more people will be attracted by the sights and sounds of London when attending. That's where speedway promoter's fail, they are happy to get a break even figure instead of aiming for double or more. -
Hi Booyaa There is also an advert in the Speedway Star. Travel Plus Tours have 2 options to book hotel and tickets through them. Or go to www.speedwaytours.co.uk Emai:l tours@tptours.co.uk

If it was to happen it would be just as easy and cheaper to stay on the outskirts of London then get public transport, bus, tube, train etc into the capital. -

Kelvin Tatum was given a guided tour by the head groundsman and yep he is a speedway fan. The video is on YouTube. Thank you for reminding me. Of course we know it takes a lot more than the head groundsman being a speedway fan to getting a GP there, but a foot in the door is better than having it shut in your face. The stadium can easily be converted for any event as the pitch is stored in an underground car park behind the stands. Now that would be an amazing stadium to have a GP in, yes the show would truly be a spectacular event. Bring it on! -

I distinctly remember a bad one at Cardiff that I attended when they had to relay the track overnight after practice. Wasn't much better for the GP as it rutted up badly and Craig Cook, who was meeting reserve, gave up when he had a outing coz it was that bad. The shale had been stored open to the elements and it got slightly wet! But u live and learn.
