POTTERS V LEICESTER KOC 3 / 8
porkypotter replied to porkypotter's topic in National League Speedway
Well mr ore. nice to hear from other speedway fans that things are improving at stoke this year and while I would agree it is not perfect it is a lot better than previous years. I had to miss this one due to a family party but hope to be back up this Saturday for the Plymouth match. So lets hope dave tattum and his band of merry men can keep up the good work and lets hope for some decent crowds to urge the potters on. -
could be squeaky bum time tonight at loomer road when the potters lock horns with Leicester. cant help but think that the potters long tail might be their undoing as it has done for most of the season. I think the top four are a match for any team but the rest have not quite got the desired oomph but hope they prove me wrong. weather is looking just right for some action so come on the potters.
-
eh steady on now. we let you win at your place so now you are in for a good spanking (we hope). a lot depends on our second strings and reserves. if they can nick a few points and stay on the bike then we are in with a shout. anyway come and enjoy a good evening in sunny stoke on trent and good luck to all the lads on both sides.
-
chuff me sings. david wallinger must be the busiest man in uk speedway at present. I think he has ridden most days this week for one team or another. not come across young douglas as yet but good luck to him. with perry and Lawlor missing and luke priest just back from injury it is anyones guess who will win. come on the potters.
-
so the potters entertain the belle vue colts on Saturday night. not sure who is riding as the potters website is not downloading at present. young corbin Pavitt has given up his place in the team so the potters were looking out for a replacement. just hope it is not William O,Keefe who I am sure is a nice lad but cant appear to make any progress in the sport. maybe it is time for paul burnett to come back after his broken leg. he is a good middle order rider who always bags a few points or maybe try a young up and coming rider who wants the chance to try their hand a league racing. whoever it is good luck to them and all the riders and lets hope for a good close match and a win for the potters of course.

speedway bikes in ledbury auction
porkypotter replied to porkypotter's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
absolutely sings. I believe they are the collection of a guy called noel Clarke. as you say there are some crackers. should be a good sale but I dare not go as I know I would come home with a truck load. I live around 3 miles from where the ivan mauger collection went under the hammer but I knew if I went there would be a divorce because they were fabulous but big bucks. so good luck to all those that attend and happy bidding. -
has anyone else seen the large number of classic speedway and grass track bikes for sale in the h j pugh auction in ledbury on august 17th I think. also loads of speedway related items. check it out online. some fantastic bikes there.

exactly sings.
-
exactly mate. never mind the fact that ledwith managed to crash all on his own on the very first bend and that rowe was taken into the fence by another rider overcooking it but hey ho lets blaim stoke.
-
I agree it is frustrating to keep having riders missing from our teams but it is progress for the them. stoke went to Mildenhall on sunday minus Lawlor and coles and while the guests did a good job it is just not the same. I am afraid that the talented riders will always be picked up by higher leagues so we just have to live with it but to be fair this is why speedway will always have a problem with fans buying into team loyalty.
-
a very fair assessment pete. an excellent meeting. for me most of the crashes were by over riding as is the case in most of these big meetings and nobody wanted to give an inch. so for me it is a big well done to Jason pipe and his helpers and to dave tattum and his team for putting on a fantastic event. before the meeting I thought that luke priest could be the weak link for the potters but he proved me wrong and played a blinder and had his best meeting for a good while so to then get injured the very next day just proves what a cruel master speedway can be at times. anyway its a big well done to the potters and onwards and upwards for the whole team at stoke.
-
a busy weekend coming up this weekend for the potters starting at Plymouth this evening. with an 11 point advantage to defend the potters are in with a shout. Edwards for coles is ok but young William is a bit of a worry. the Plymouth side look like a stoke reunion squad with nearly all their riders having turned out for us at some time or other. just hope all the potters riders come through ok and are fit for the fours on Saturday. come on the potters give it some welly.
-
to be fair there is not much home advantage at stoke and most of the top boys ride it very well. I think if luke priest can grab a few points then yes we should be a match for most teams but anything can happen on the day. just hope it is a great success and everyone goes home happy. come on the potters.
-
did not see any real problems with the track other than a bit grippier than usual so the more inexperienced riders found it a bit tricky but the top lads were banging in fast times. to be fair after a week of hot dry weather it poured down all morning and into the afternoon so prep was not easy. stoke are in with a good shout at winning this but feel it depends more on luke priest than the others to grab some points. hope the meeting is a huge success and all the riders and fans go home happy and safe. just one point for me the pa system on the back straight kept cutting in and out so was hard to get details sometimes so perhaps they could look at that in time. good to see that ricky ashworth is coming down and having a spin on his tandem. hope everyone can give him a rousing cheer as he goes round. come on the potters.
-
a very fair report tiger. it was a very hot day and a lot of water had been put down. this suited the more experienced riders ( ie cleggy recording the fastest time of the season so far) but others found it tricky. was looking forwards to seeing young bickley ride but he did not look that interested and halsey was poor. a real shame for Lawlor picking up an injury on his birthday so hope he is ok and yes heat 11 was something else with coles passing both clegg and bickley for an excellent win. so onwards and upwards for the potters.
-
all is looking good for this meeting. a lovely warm evening so its all systems go for a good spanking for those pesky heathens. come on the potters do us proud like last week.

David Wallinger Ludicrous situation.
porkypotter replied to Fortythirtyeight's topic in National League Speedway
what about craig cook and dan bewley. I think craig rode for buxton. dan is a star of the future and rode for the belle vue colts I think so to say the league is not fit for purpose is very harsh. -
you are right mike it is a pain sometimes and can hold up racing. the setting sun is in direct line with the starting gate but what can you do other than turn the track around. lets hope we get just enough cloud cover to shield the glare but no rain please. I am sure stoke is not the only track that has this problem.
-
well after weeks without any activity I for one am ready for some action. this looks like a fairly even match and cleggy is always going to get a bag full of points at our place. cant help but feel that stoke should have brought in young butcher at reserve as he looks to have made big improvements lately. anyway the forecast looks ok so lets spank those bog moggies. up the potters.
-
well considering there is a 9.30 pm curfew in place this meeting will not run into the night. to be fair stoke are taking flack here that should be directed towards the bspa or whoever. the last meeting at stoke ran very well. I live in Stafford and was home by 9.30 and if the ref cracks on with it there should not be a problem. also it is high summer now so should not need the floodlights on very much. looking forward to a good meeting and a good trouble free night for all the riders involved.

think you have it spot on there Sidney. the national league is a good product with a mix of more experienced riders passing on their knowledge and help to the youngsters. then the cream will rise to the top and the more talented riders will move up and so the circle starts again. others who for whatever reason don,t move up are there ready for the next batch. when I left school I started work as an apprentice and learned my skills off the senior men and that is the way it happens in all walks of life. so I say hurrah for the middle of the road riders who want to go out and enjoy their racing while passing on tips to the young starters. I do not think having a team of seven youngsters would not be a good product to sell to the public. for me I always look forward to the likes of danny ayres coming to lock horns with our boys each to their own but for me the national league is doing just fine. -
Were you a Bees fan of the 60's, 70's or 80's?
porkypotter replied to oleoleole's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
yes you are probably right there but with the events that have gone on there circus music is more apt. it is a crying shame what has happened to the old place. I found a you tube clip the other day where a couple of lads went into the stadium and did some filming. absolutely heartbreaking and all those involved in this debacle should hang their heads in shame. good luck to the save Coventry speedway campaign -
well it was not easy for either side in the end but I did think the potters would do better than this. glad I did not go as it sounds like an awful meeting for riders and fans alike once again the potters reserves were a bit lacking so if one of the top five have a bad day it gives you no chance. anyway hope young perks is ok and not out for too long. onwards and upwards.
-
well the potters are off to Leicester on sunday afternoon. should be fairly even with a few guests in operation. think young palin will again be a thorn in the potters side but if they can keep up the form from the 3 team match we should give a good account of ourselves though I still think the reserves are our main worry at present. come on the potters.

potters v crewe v buxton saturday may 25th
porkypotter replied to porkypotter's topic in National League Speedway
well what a cracking meeting this turned out to be. from the guy doing a demo on an old 2 valve jawa to the young fella on the junior bike giving it plenty then to the 3 sides putting on a great show and racing hard and fair. the most improved riders on the night for me were joe Lawlor, Shelby Rutherford , luke priest and aaron butcher. all looked a lot sharper and attacked the track. if they keep it going stoke will surely rise up the league table. so its a big well done for dave tattum and all the team for putting on a great night on a very good racing track. sorry sandking I did not keep the times. up the potters.
