  1. That's right. It's rumoured that Lambert is locked for Toruń. I don't think that Gorzów have enough money to sign him as they offered a hefty contract (largest in Ekstraliga history) to Zmarzlik and Lambert's demands are pretty high. As for Zielona Góra the big problem there is that the owners have fallen out with themselves. It is said that they don't have money enough not only to keep Vaculik, but even to get the reliable replacement for him.
  2. Wiesław Dobruszek in his great "Mistrzostwa Świata Par" opus states expressly that 1970 Malmoe tournament was the first officially recognized World Pairs Final. 1968 Kempten was a trial meeting and after it had proven to be succesful FIM introduced the competition called FIM Best Pairs International Championship to the official fixture for 1969. In October 1969 during the FIM Congress at Ljubljana they at last decided to hold official World Pairs Championship starting from 1970. No word about posterior recognition 1969 final as the first official World Pairs Final.
  3. OK. Thanks to invaluable Christian Weber I have now the full results. As iris mentioned Continental Final was held in Oberhausen and yeah, that was the one with crash of Dirtl and Kamper There were also two semifnals: in Warsaw and in Crikvenica. But the system of qualification was really weird. From Warsaw advanced 7 riders (though, some of them were replaced by other riders in the Final) and according to Christian from Crikvenica qualified only a winner - one of the Sidlo brothers, although he didn't appear at Oberhausen oval. 8 riders, including Kjell Carlsson (nominated by SVEMO) were seeded directy to Continental Final. BTW. Ridiculous case of Pole Janusz Suchecki. He advanced from Warsaw, but soon had been suspended for smuggling ... fork, pencil and cigarette case and some parts of watch... and he wasn't able to participate in Oberhausen. The bizarre end of that story is that after retiring he started a career in notorious Polish police and he was a colonel when retired from the service...
  4. Hello, I'm looking for the results of 1956 world championship continental qualification rounds. I have the results of semifinal held in Warsaw, but no idea where and when the second continental SF was staged. From the list of participants of the Continetal Final I could only infer that mystery second SF featured the likes of: German Hofmeister, Seidl, Siegl, Wiesent, Aberl Pole Krzesiński, Dutch Cardang, and the two unlucky Austrian Kamper, and Dirtl. I believe that results @dlprezes.pl and edinburghspeedway sites are wrong. In fact, they gave the results from Abensberg 1957 SF. Above-mentioned sources say that there was also Continental Qualifying Round @ Crikvenica (Yugoslavia, nowadays Croatia), but it's really uncertain if that meeting was actually WC qualifier. I would be grateful for any information. Regards,
  5. It is undecided yet by League Council. There are still three possibilities (depending on what circumstances would be settled by the council): a walk-over for Częstochowa to repeat whole match or to approve 32-28 score after 10 heats.
  6. Łódź will get the license for sure. Rzeszów license and the team future in general is very doubtful as for now. Debts are coming out one after another. Mr. Nawrocki is a kluck rather than reliable businessman and promotor. I wonder how he was able to convince some riders to sign contracts, especially after that famous Porsing's fb post.
  7. https://dlprezes.pl.tl/Runda-kontynentalna--k1-Continental-Round-k2--_-1973.htm IMO this is the best site, although there are some errors in riders names.
  8. Hello, well, I believe both things do matter. Only Woffinden, Lambert and recently Bewley have established themselves as decent points providers in Ekstraliga or 1. Liga. Cook had two very dissapointing seasons in Rybnik and i think he's done in Poland. Others, like Lawson, the Worrall bros are good enough to consider them as solid second strings at the lowest level. Generally, Brits have bad reputation in Poland since Harris and Nicholls' - poor showing a few years ago. Generally, they're viewed as riders with suspected approach, not eager to ride in Poland, without equipment suitable for slick, concrete Polish tracks. For sure, it's a bit unfair but that's the way it is.
