Trying to be optimistic, (clutching at straws probably) Cook should be a stronger reserve than Kemp was last year and Hagon may have improved after riding in Australia this winter. Although Douglas and Masters are rumoured to be the last two, SD could pull a rabbit out of the hat, Wozniak mentioned on here, would he strengthen the team? I thought Douglas was a bit disappointing at times last season. Presume Pukka Pies have taken out some sponsorship, new stadium sponsor perhaps?

Don't know what Wozniak's average would be but would he fit in place of Becker?

Leicester v Oxford 27th May
LionsFan replied to Arch Stanton's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I think Richie had a 18 month ban, 9 months of it suspended, so he can ride from next month so long as he provides 2 months of negative tests prior to riding. -

If you're referring to Mr Hemsley, isn't he already the owner? David Darcy said a few weeks ago on the centre green that it's the promotors licence that is up for sale, not the ownership of the club. -

Didn't we win a cup that year as well? -

I think Dave Darcey said on one of his centre green interviews that it's the promoters licence that is up for sale, not the club. -

I heard a couple of weeks ago that there were approx seven interested parties including someone already associated with the club. Don't know anymore than that. -

Yes, he got a 30 day ban, but we don't know the facts regarding what happened when he was asked to take the test and if ,for example, procedures were followed correctly. I think Stewart Dickson said he had employed a solicitor for the hearing, so Morris may think there are reasons to challenge it. -

It's all rumour and speculation at the moment, I don't know if any posters on this forum are aware of the facts. -

In my view he should be allowed to put his side of the story before people rush to judgement. -

I know the hearing is not a court of law but Morris (or his solicitor) is entitled to put his side of the story before any decision is made. -

Can't see it being a change of ownership, especially with the money spent on the stadium over the winter. I have noticed the former promoter in attendance on race nights so could he be looking to come back in some capacity? -

Dan will benefit if he can get fixed up with a championship team. -

I think Morris could do a good job as captain. He seems very professional in his approach and expects others to be the same. Perhaps he can be a bit moany, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing - I remember him having a go at one or two team members in an after-match interview in the 2021 season when he claimed they turned up with poorly maintained equipment. Still, we don't know the full team yet so there may be other candidates. -

He could well be staying at Lynn, but I'm just adding to the rumours. I was surprised his average was lower than Richie's. -

I know the rumour is that Richie Worrall is coming back but it looks like Josh Pickering has a lower average even with the 2.5% reduction and probably has more potential for improvement. -

Last time they were in the top league they were under different management/ownership and had a weak team. If the rumoured team is correct, I can see them being competitive with a fair chance of the play offs. The club seems to be on a more secure financial footing than it was last time: the fact they are spending money on the track and stadium this winter shows that. I also think running on a Thursday rather than a Monday (as last time) will lead to better crowds. -

I think he also has (or had) Polish commitments on Sundays so wasn't happy with the travelling. -

Pretty sure the rider was Andrez Huszcza, and I think it happened when Leicester were struggling to beat Oxford in an inter league cup match in1980 or 81. -

Leicester vs Oxford 7 May 2022
LionsFan replied to PowerfulPierre's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I think Richie Worrall mentioned something about the amount of clay when he was interviewed during the interval two or three weeks ago. The track did improve following the long grading break after heat 4 (must have been ok as Morris set a new track record in heat 5) and I thought Stewart Dickson sounded a little embarrassed when he was interviewed regarding track conditions. -
