Will the premiership start on time?
Falcon1983 replied to tellboy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I can see a May start for speedway as I see maybe mid april as a time where cases of covid19 will start decreasing (depends what sites you read and what you believe). I think if the BSPA can run at least one home vs one away meeting I.e. league tie for the prem then straight into the play offs at least there will be some top flight speedway What they could do also to help british riders is extend the British championship to a 7 round series at each prem stadium and offset 50% of the gate into prize money to help the riders against costs and loss of earnings through less league meetings -
Will British Speedway Survive ?
Falcon1983 replied to old bob at herne bay's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
It is not just clubs that may not survive How many large corporations sponsor speedway vs small businesses, if they suffer loss of business then they are going to withdraw sponsorship to clubs, riders etc. it will all have a knock on effect I can see the premiership if being run this season being literally 1 Home vs 1 Away then straight into the play-offs, at least we will see some Speedway. Imagine if riders had proper contracts with Speedway clubs and clubs still had to pay riders during this time -
Such a shame

Premiership Junior League

Prem is Home/Away twice but the junior league is only 1 home/1 away -
It was well documented as Baldy says above who also follows that championship quite closely if i remember correctly - He probably knows more than me as I do not look at entry lists etc. but I only copy and pasted my part because it was "fresh" from the BSB facebook page, I didn;t know and I am not going to know if I don't go out and find the information myself that he signed for MSS Kawasaki until I actually saw it first hand. Really good team that he has signed for, lots of pedigree and under Nick Morgan he has a good mentor - I'll certainly be trying to watch the odd race meeting on Eurosport if indeed Eurosport still cover a full days racing of BSB, I know they show most support classes unsure on the junior supersport or not.

I believed ya lol just didnt see you mention it before apart from saying he does road racing as opposed to speedway What I pasted was from the BSB Facebook that went up this morning. So jason will look after his son and while over here make a few quid out of speedway

Young Australian race star Seth Crump is moving to the UK to race for MSS Performance onboard a Kawasaki Ninja 400 in the HEL Performance British Junior Supersport Championship. Crump, the son of three-time Speedway World Champion Jason, who is coming out of retirement this year to race for the Ipswich Witches, will race his first full season on the British scene when the season gets underway at Silverstone at Easter. The sixteen-year-old from the Gold Coast, Australia, came to international attention when he won the Phillip Island MotoGP support class race and has also already won a round of the Australian SBK series in his class.

Peterborough Panthers 2020

If its Nicholls and Ulrich and nicholls isn't so hot at home then give him 3 rides, scott away from home potentially having 7 rides at wolves, ipswich etc is a good weapon -
how much roughly is glove sponsorship? Might look at doing something with a rider myself perhaps.
-
Based on near full sides I'm going to settle for 1. Swindon 2. Peterborough 3. Wolves 4. Sheffield 5. Kings Lynn 6. Belle Vue 7. Ipswich

Riders are but if you're getting polish money you will do whatever the club wants -
Maybe Holder will join him mid season once Visas are sorted? Someone said crumps son is over as he excels in his sport, is this speedway or another sport?
-
JL yes was criticised for not making changes but CL is rightly criticised for making changes too late I.e. Chris Harris last season should have been let go alot sooner It is a numbers game and would have been less of a risk if crumps average was low enough to maybe had Nicholls at reserve but now it really puts pressure on the full 1-7 including Drew who now cant be allowed time to adjust to this level Can't see CL dropping king, heeps, allen at all can't see them dropping Crump either after bringing him out of retirement it will possibly be crump himself who will drop himself if his return is not as he expects it Possible they may drop Klindt possibly Covatti and Drew will only be part of it if it's a numbers game. Using King as an example he had a poor finish to last season and was lucky to be in this years side but the club are loyal to their golfers, I mean riders I guess as mentioned already by someone else give it 8 meetings see where they are but I expect to be bottom 2 If this team goes unchanged and makes the plays offs I'll do a lap of foxhall in my boxer shorts lol
-
Ok I will restate weakest looking side on paper starting the season lol Do you think chris and richard will be ballsy enough to drop Crump if it's not working out? I think generally they are quite weak in that area Compared to last season its weaker but let's see how it goes, crump on a 6.5 average would have been there or thereabouts for me but to be savaged with 8.21 is just wow As baldy says they've struggled for a heat leader and it's clear that there is limited availability and 95% was possibly thrown into the Holder basket
-
Weakest 1-7 in the league and no chance of a play off place
-
Its Dudek He feels a season in the UK will help him achieve better GP results I.e improve his skillset Interesting signing
-
i'll be Holding the Bacon in anticipation
-
Crump and i'll get the old man out to ride at 7
-
I would take Michelsen
-
Vaculik would be good but would have thought he would go to Sheffield if he had the opportunity of the UK before they signed Pedersen but who knows Maybe Aspgren, Thomsen, Michelsen, Zagar, Miedzinksi, Lebedevs - could be anyone
-
I think with the wait etc is HAS to be a big name and worth it or it will look egg on face for CL So who do people class as a big name? Either a GP rider or recently ex GP rider so could be Holder Pawlicki Lindback Kolodzje Smolinksi Milik Do any of then excite you apart from Holder? It is quite clear that CL and Richard have targeted a big no.1 if they now announce a more solid team and go for a stronger reserve then perhaps in hindsight they could have named the side a long time ago IMO the strength in depth route is better then end of the transfer window try picking up a Bjerre (Danish) + Bacon combo if necessary and be a little more fire power for the end of season push and playoffs as long as the right changes are made at the right time then starting strength in depth will be the best option
