Will the premiership start on time?
Falcon1983 replied to tellboy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Poland only contracts moving forward should not even be an issue for British Speedway. A dozen or so riders ride in the Polish top league who ride in the UK (or less). -
Future Format for British Speedway
Falcon1983 replied to Falcon1983's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I spoke to a company last week that has pulled out of sponsoring a rider in BSB and I mentioned speedway as a cheaper alternative. They declined even with the cost involved its cost vs exposure and even with the Eurosport deal in place they said it was the overall presentation of the sport which is a no I'll keep trying lol -
Future Format for British Speedway
Falcon1983 replied to Falcon1983's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I've not been able to post in depth as I've been flat out working from home and setting up a part time enterprise (see if it goes anywhere) as been meaning to "give it a chance" for a while Will try and get round to it over the coming weeks -
No point naming them as there would be clauses in any deal voiding it so would imagine its "on hold" until further notice and if covid19 has caused financial loss then the contract will be ripped up. Also its quite common for it to be paid in installments also.

Never nice to see riders crash and hope on every occasion they walk away healthy as possible. However some are quite spectacular, some are ball breaking and you also see the odd comical ones where the rider may even feel silly. Post a crash thread.

British Speedway to be reborn?
Falcon1983 replied to Theboss's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I don't see much change going into 2021 when/if things settle down again even with the aviation industry currently in a mess someone will come along and go for the budget approach as it worked for Ryanair for years and someone with the financial capability to offer cheap air travel will enter the market if those currently in the market increase prices or go bankrupt. However all this mess is a great opportunity for British speedway to remodel itself rather than constantly just rebranding the same turd calling in elite league, premier league etc. Promoters aren't going to voluntarily give up the sport so the maximum number of tracks will still want to operate and if we stick purely to british riders we will go further backwards as there are just not enough riders coming into the sport in this country The guys involved in youth speedway are doing a great job but still the numbers coming into the sport are not of the past. To progress to any sort of professional level we need the foreign riders I'd like to see two leagues, in the second tier the only requirement being all reserves are British -
Who are the future stars of British Speedway?

Nothing wrong with Kemp think he is in our Top 5 "young guns" well on my list he is anyway -
Who are the future stars of British Speedway?
Falcon1983 replied to Falcon1983's topic in National League Speedway
The stars we have produced has been minimal possibly to two reasons 1. The opportunity to progress through the British league structure, either being promoted too early and losing confidence and interest in the sport or not being given enough opportunities 2. The lack of professional help off track, not enough career guidance in terms of sponsorship or even rider application, resulting in become an also-ran Who was that young lad to come through the national league with something like a 10 or 11 point average then stepped up to the now championship and struggled... my head is telling me Sheffield... not sure if he is now lost to the sport? -
Who would you say are our future stars including riders no longer racing at national league level.

Will the premiership start on time?
Falcon1983 replied to tellboy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
All comes down to money on the football front. The german Bundesliga looks likely to restart in May sometime behind closed doors, the premier league cant afford not to start and I guess if that returns it may give people a boost to watch sport from home even if there is limited atmosphere. The power of the league I'm sure they can test squads and quarantine them until the end of the season and those working in the background to make the broadcast etc. Happen It's far from ideal but it's been said for many years if the tv deal changed for the premier league then it could ruin a fair few clubs so they will complete it. Not sure how that helps clubs outside in the lower leagues as they rely on gate receipts. I was entering a side in my local sunday league next season normally start doing bits in May ready for a September start but unofficially have been told grassroots sunday league will be postponed until September 2021 Crazy times let's hope there is some positivity soon for speedway -

Falcon1983 replied to tellboy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Yes I take back what I said, I've just read what the chief medical officer has said looks like no amateur sport either taking place until 2021 by amateur I mean local football Sunday league stuff Seems only those sports with a big broadcasting deal might be able to put something together tho with no fans. -
Will the premiership start on time?
Falcon1983 replied to tellboy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I think you COULD see some action this year but there is no way they could run a league of any merit. Some people have been told around June but that's a bit unrealistic I think speedway could start again July/August but not much speedway to be got in before poor weather wipes meetings out. Maybe some open meetings in August/September perhaps -

Flu stats are the same Figures are only made from people who have a confirmed case of the flu, does everyone go to hospital for mild flu? I doubt it very much -
Will British Speedway Survive ?
Falcon1983 replied to old bob at herne bay's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Its not incorrect its fact using statistical websites. Again with any stats you can only use them on confirmed cases so its irrelevant how many people have not been tested etc. Stats on ant disease is all based on confirmed information at on closed cases the death rate is 21% worldwide. Fact I think you want the last say on it as you keep backing yourself up then casually saying "we're not here to discuss this" so let's put this discussion to bed.... Nobody has the answer of when people will feel comfortable to return to spectator sports, every person is different and will feel differently My opinion only tho In speedway if some feel they need to stay away it will damage the sport immensely, if 50% of football fans in the premier league decide to stay away then there will be the same amount of people who will probably buy the tickets up anyway as there is always a bigger demand Minority sports will suffer this year -
Will British Speedway Survive ?
Falcon1983 replied to old bob at herne bay's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Correct The only way you can calculate the death % is on closed cases I.e recovered or dead. At the moment the death % on confirmed closed cases is 21% On open cases only 4% are critical but that doesn't mean the 96% non critical will not suddenly get worse as the virus takes a tighter grip But anyway we'll all be fine once the 5G masts get taken down -

The big stars should never come back those days are over and UK speedway needs to let go of that dream and lay the foundations for future generations to enjoy the sport -

Think Woffy would probably be more like 300% more in costs but all depends on his earnings in Poland if they are not as agreed he may want to top up his earnings -
Isolation has left me bored so I have been putting together a detailed plan on how British Speedway could look in the future and perhaps even prosper a little bit vs how it operates now. Over the next week or so I'll post each segment in "parts" as some is quite alot of info for one post. Will be good to pick it apart, discuss the positives and negatives etc. And generally give us more to talk about To give an idea before it goes up later in the week My idea is to move the British Championship into a mini Grand Prix type series and have it as the "main event" of speedway in this country at the same time it gives most support to British riders. League racing still operates to give spectators that love league racing and team association tho its across two divisions only (British and National league) with a junior racing/training programme. It unfortunately loses the GP stars or those more or less guaranteed every meeting in the Polish top flight, I've omitted them tho the calendar in my plans reduces league fixtures so maybe one or two may committ however it's based on clubs operating on its chosen race night where they can gain most footfall. Would love to hear everyone else's suggestions in the meantime Structures Formats Etc.

What is the conversion for a rider dropping into the championship from the prem And what is the average conversion for a championship rider dropping into the national league -
Will British Speedway Survive ?
Falcon1983 replied to old bob at herne bay's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
True very true and I agree but with one set of fixtures a top 4 finish could be very exciting as it should be close. Unless they do one set of fixtures, whoever finishes top is league champions and top 4 qualify for KO Cup semi finals... gives teams something to ride for -

Maybe they should do a coupon so £18 to attend the first meeting, £16 for the second, £14 and then £12. Discount only works if you have been to meeting one it would mean ppl have to go each time So meeting one £18 Two £16 Three £14 Four £12 Five £12 Six £12 Seven £12 And so on... If you miss the sequence you restart but if you're savvy you buy a friend a ticket
