Where do you think he'll fit in, what average does he come in on?
-
Its ok he's alive and well... I've been spending this lockdown trying to find old footage of dad riding Now I have purchased some footage on DVD from rerun videos from his Exeter days and obviously there are alot of meeting I mostly remember his Exeter from around 1988 to 1992 when he then retired. I've been searching YouTube for footage from before then or from meetings I cant get on DVD I've found the 89 4TT at Peterborough which was broadcast on wheels, I've found a full meeting of Leicester vs Wolves and one race vs Coventry which stopped them reaching a KO Cup final If anyone knows how to obtain footage or knows anything please let me know, I doubt there would be any footage from his scunthorpe, ipswich or boston days but hoping there might be more Leicester ones potentially Maybe some lions fans on here can help out as I doubt there is any scunthorpe footage

Temporary Plan for 2021?
Falcon1983 replied to Falcon1983's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Great list I've counted at least 26 riders who possibly wont come to Britain to race with 6 of those 100% definitely not in the UK Leaves slim pickings If you go back to my theory you're literally asking teams at the AGM who wants to sit out 2021 but here is what we want to do in 2022 so plan early Whatever they decide they need to also have 2022 more or less sorted in terms of set up even if you pencil Swindon in and they dont return -
Temporary Plan for 2021?
Falcon1983 replied to Falcon1983's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I stand by what I have already said and that there are too many clubs for the sport to thrive of any sort in the UK I am not moaning saying that now their won't be enough teams, someone else said that all clubs could run if riders were allowed to double up/down but I am asking a question, if most of the aussie riders and euroepans can't compete in the UK in 2021 there will be be enough riders to fill every single club - so it goes back to my original post of having some form of British League racing with limited teams i.e. those who can run a 1-7 Just because Swindon and potentially Poole might follow suit, it doesn't mean the end to a 2021 season -
Temporary Plan for 2021?
Falcon1983 replied to Falcon1983's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Fair points but what if a lot of the Aussies and Europeans can't do the 2021 season so you're only left with predominantly British riders Do we allow every rider to triple up/down so that the premier, championship and national league run a league because if it gets to that stage there are only going to be enough riders for 8 or 9 clubs to run 7 man teams Even with 6 man teams it's not much better unless you then look at 4 or 5 rider teams -
Temporary Plan for 2021?
Falcon1983 replied to Falcon1983's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I dont think it matters that the younger promoters are taking up the positions because they still have a voting system so the majority of people who vote are the same from previous years and not all but most are in it for themselves. For the sport to gain any sort of recognition in this country it needs less clubs competing it is that simply but over the next few years that will happen naturally -
Temporary Plan for 2021?
Falcon1983 replied to Falcon1983's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Loss making meetings? Thought speedway never made money for years all clubs plead poverty unless the reality is different Restricting clubs to individual meetings vs potentially not having a 2021 season at all? This is the issue with Speedway in this country, far too many clubs to make it work Hope the BSPA have a good plan because there are going to be absolutely loads of riders unavailable to ride in 2021 -
Temporary Plan for 2021?
Falcon1983 replied to Falcon1983's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Speedway if any will be sparse so if a landlord won't open a stadium someone else takes the slot -
With the BSPA only meeting next week and everywhere else in Europe all sorted for whatever Speedway offering they will provide in 2021, a lot of talk in the UK is that Speedway is doomed, but for me some form of Speedway in 2021 while looking to build into 2022 with a structured long term fixed plan can do wonders for the Sport in the UK - only my opinion but instead of trying to punch above our weight class, we need to understand our place in the rider market, and our plan should be to develop our next future World champions, even if that means in the future they no longer ride in the UK. For 2021 I would forget all about Premier League, Championship, National League and just get 8 clubs together who can form a "British League" Championship, purely focusing on showing some form of Speedway in 2021. For example 2021 British League Belle Vue Ipswich Kings Lynn Peterborough Sheffield Swindon Wolves Glasgow could form together to make an 8-team Championship, the other clubs etc. can get together and provide some form of speedway throughout the year with individual meetings or area championships but these would be run at a semi=pro/amateur setting. So we take our 8 teams, and we have each team running on their own chosen race night, home and away once so 14 league meetings, the team finishing top of the league are Champions, the top 4 sides go into an end of season KO Cup (two legged meetings) so a potential for 14-20 meetings of Speedway. The Top 12 average British Riders at the start of the season and the top 8 U23 averaged British Riders go into a "British Riders Championship" with one round hosted at each of the 8 venues in the league over the duration of the season so a split GP style series which will crown a "British" champion and a "British U23" champion at the same meeting so the 12 Main Championship riders would compete over 12 heats no final The 8 Under23 riders compete over 8 heats no final As the BSPA have left it so long to decide what is happening for 2021 and so much uncertainty make the league up of the following riders Adam Ellis Alex Spooner Alfie Bowtell Anders Rowe Ashley Morris Ben Barker Ben Morley Cameron Heeps Charles Wright Chris Harris Connor Bailley Connor Coles Connor Mountain Craig Cook Dan Gilkes Dan Thompson Danny King Danny Phillips Danyon Hume Drew Kemp Edward Kennett Henry Atkins Jack Thomas James Sarjeant James Shanes James Wright Jason Edwards Joe Lawlor Joe Thompson Jordan Jenkins Jordan Palin Josh Auty Josh Bates Kye Thomson Kyle Bickley Kyle Howarth Kyle Newman Leon Flint Lewis Kerr Luke Riddick Matt Marson Matthew Wethers Max Clegg Nathan Greaves Nathan Stoneman Paul Starke Richard Andrew Richard Lawson Rob Ledwith Ryan Kinsley Scott Campos Scott Nicholls Simon Lambert Stefan Nielsen Steve Worrall Tom Bacon Tom Brennan Tom Woolley William Lawson Obviously taken out a dozen or so names that may still ride in 2021 so could be a stronger field available. Then for 2022 look to keep an 8-team British League where we could welcome back riders who missed 2021 such as Tungate as one example and then create a "National League North & South" which is open to Continental riders (riders 6&7 have to be British) but opens the door up for more Aussies to come over to fill spaces and each team are allowed to track 3 non-Continental riders so you could see some old hands like Ostegaard riding or some young up coming riders from Germany etc. National League North Bradford Berwick Birmingham Edinburgh Leicester Newcastle Redcar Scunthorpe National League South Eastbourne Kent Somerset Isle of Wight Mildenhall Plymouth Poole each club ride home and away in their leagues to definite Northern & Southern Champions, both champions race off home and away for the "National Title" there can also be a regional KO Cup and an overall "National Cup" where all teams are drawn out of a crash helmet.

SGB 2021 confirmed signings
Falcon1983 replied to old bob at herne bay's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Even if it was the only sport to run it wouldn't get any mainstream media local maybe as it does so often now but mainstream media would rather look at gossip/rumours in football, boxing, cricket, F1 etc. -

Not sure if it's been discussed but could speedway for Peterborough be moved from the show ground to the greyhound stadium? Has this ever been explored? Seen today they have cancelled greyhound racing and are looking at other opportunities -
Crump out Holder in then for next year

Will the premiership start on time?
Falcon1983 replied to tellboy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Even if it's the top two leagues UK will have to build a series that stands on it's own. If Poland is where the money is in the top 2 tiers then nothing can be done riders will go where the money is and the UK will either help them get there or see them on their way back down the ladder. -
Will the premiership start on time?

Poland only contracts moving forward should not even be an issue for British Speedway. A dozen or so riders ride in the Polish top league who ride in the UK (or less). -
Future Format for British Speedway
Falcon1983 replied to Falcon1983's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I spoke to a company last week that has pulled out of sponsoring a rider in BSB and I mentioned speedway as a cheaper alternative. They declined even with the cost involved its cost vs exposure and even with the Eurosport deal in place they said it was the overall presentation of the sport which is a no I'll keep trying lol -
Future Format for British Speedway
Falcon1983 replied to Falcon1983's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I've not been able to post in depth as I've been flat out working from home and setting up a part time enterprise (see if it goes anywhere) as been meaning to "give it a chance" for a while Will try and get round to it over the coming weeks -
No point naming them as there would be clauses in any deal voiding it so would imagine its "on hold" until further notice and if covid19 has caused financial loss then the contract will be ripped up. Also its quite common for it to be paid in installments also.

Never nice to see riders crash and hope on every occasion they walk away healthy as possible. However some are quite spectacular, some are ball breaking and you also see the odd comical ones where the rider may even feel silly. Post a crash thread.

British Speedway to be reborn?
Falcon1983 replied to Theboss's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I don't see much change going into 2021 when/if things settle down again even with the aviation industry currently in a mess someone will come along and go for the budget approach as it worked for Ryanair for years and someone with the financial capability to offer cheap air travel will enter the market if those currently in the market increase prices or go bankrupt. However all this mess is a great opportunity for British speedway to remodel itself rather than constantly just rebranding the same turd calling in elite league, premier league etc. Promoters aren't going to voluntarily give up the sport so the maximum number of tracks will still want to operate and if we stick purely to british riders we will go further backwards as there are just not enough riders coming into the sport in this country The guys involved in youth speedway are doing a great job but still the numbers coming into the sport are not of the past. To progress to any sort of professional level we need the foreign riders I'd like to see two leagues, in the second tier the only requirement being all reserves are British -

Who are the future stars of British Speedway?
Falcon1983 replied to Falcon1983's topic in National League Speedway
The stars we have produced has been minimal possibly to two reasons 1. The opportunity to progress through the British league structure, either being promoted too early and losing confidence and interest in the sport or not being given enough opportunities 2. The lack of professional help off track, not enough career guidance in terms of sponsorship or even rider application, resulting in become an also-ran Who was that young lad to come through the national league with something like a 10 or 11 point average then stepped up to the now championship and struggled... my head is telling me Sheffield... not sure if he is now lost to the sport? -
Who would you say are our future stars including riders no longer racing at national league level.

Will the premiership start on time?
Falcon1983 replied to tellboy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
All comes down to money on the football front. The german Bundesliga looks likely to restart in May sometime behind closed doors, the premier league cant afford not to start and I guess if that returns it may give people a boost to watch sport from home even if there is limited atmosphere. The power of the league I'm sure they can test squads and quarantine them until the end of the season and those working in the background to make the broadcast etc. Happen It's far from ideal but it's been said for many years if the tv deal changed for the premier league then it could ruin a fair few clubs so they will complete it. Not sure how that helps clubs outside in the lower leagues as they rely on gate receipts. I was entering a side in my local sunday league next season normally start doing bits in May ready for a September start but unofficially have been told grassroots sunday league will be postponed until September 2021 Crazy times let's hope there is some positivity soon for speedway
