  1. No chance of Emil, the majority of the budget is spent on Doyley
  2. Maybe sign up Covatti instead of Worrall for entertainment purposes
  3. Maybe Worrall is the back up if they cant get Emil haha If Rew is ruled out then about how Thomson at Edinburgh read elsewhere he deseeves a shot at the premiership If the final 2 slots were a combo of Worrrall/Andersen/Batch then Louis has a few spare points to get someone in above Rews average
  4. Believe so yeah, looks like Rew has suffered a injury riding in oz too now
  5. If it hasn't happened cant see panthers having Holder if buster is then still the owner
  6. Difference being Nicholls is a sponsor of Ipswich and his company would have specific budgets set for sponsorship, he does alot of charity work and also sponsors other forms of motorsport. As for Tomalin at City Auction Group, if he actually becomes owner of the panthers thats a completely different ball game from just sponsoring, so if the opportunity became available to spend big on a rider then the Panthers look in the driving seat But they'll likely line up as Holder, NKI, Basso, Tungate, Jenkins plus two so not much left points wise for a huge signing and that's a pretty costly side already before adding the final two
  7. Then in that case I'd rather look at different options
  8. I'm purely talking about maybe a no.1, if seems or sounds whoever doesn't get Worrall could end up with Batch, so good bargaining position to be in if you are Richie Worrall... Someone is going to have to fold first on this one, maybe with Peterborough's new owner willing to spend more, they are in the better position to take a risk
  9. possibly not but if you are also going under the limit say you have 8+ left for a number 1 but opt for a rider on a lower average If a higher average rider becomes available such as a Lindgren, Dudek etc. or just to play a long a Artem or Emil....... would there be a budget for that calibre of rider no doubt Basso, Holder, Tungate and whoever else is more or less signed isn't cheap when comparable to other sides but i'm talking about if you hold out to see if a big rider comes available
  10. nothing wrong with that once Ipswich have named their final 2 Could end up with a Swedish club closing down or other issues resulting in some form of rider availability, but there has to be a will to spend by the new owner regardless if any decent level riders do become available at the 11th hour
  11. That will be quite a bit under the limit again wouldn't it? 1. Jason Doyle 10.32 2. Hans Andersen 4.93 3. Erik Riss 6.00 4. Richie Worrall 6.15 (6.31) 5. Danny King 6.41 (6.57) 6. Keynan Rew 4.00 7. Jack Thomas (RS) Ave: 37.81 Remaining: 1.19 Hans scored 11+1, 7+1 on two visits last season and had a retirement each time Richie scored 11, 10+1 from reserve then 8+1 from riding at no.3 I can maybe see the logic of Richie who is reasonably solid, and Hans who rides Foxhall well as the BP is going to be key this season and based on whats just gone there won't be many BP's based on home form but still need King, Riss to be more consistent at home Apart from Batch for Andersen I can't see the team being anything different to that now
  12. i'd rule out any type of big hitter at no.5 it will be King at 5, Tru7 are not going to cover the costs of another rider at Ipswich next season, that would be a significant increase in sponsorship and that is not happening, and Chris Louis will not gamble the future of the club either Even tho people are saying he isn't there at present Batch @2 and Worrall @3/4 is the best option out there unless someone can come up with something else that's realistic to replace Batch
  13. I can see this being quite successful as you will have numbers in US, Poland, Denmark, Australia etc. all subscribing to this to follow certain riders
  14. no Zagar and no Holder for Witches The team year on year is built to a budget and the majority of that has gone on Jason Doyle as an out and out no.1 which is better than throwing the majority of the budget at Jason Crump a few seasons ago I just wish there was a maximum average of 9.00, as well as there being a minimum average of 3.00 so it doesn't penalise the odd rider here or there that achieves such a high average as Doyley
  15. so the championship promotor is wrong and young Richard is correct, never thought i would type such a thing
  16. Last season was a poor one for Jake for sure, however I think I have posted on this forum before that there could be reasons for it, I think it was 2019 the year before Covid where he averaged 5.56 in the prem and 7.33 in the championship 2020 was obviously lost to Covid, I believe Jake hang around the UK hoping the season would happen but ended up going home, 2021 he planned to miss the UK season as it was still not clear if the UK season was going to start or not, big decisions for an Aussie coming to the UK, he only has a racing VISA at present I believe so his income is from his Speedway he is not allowed to work, so he was back at home working and made a late decision to race in the UK in 2021 it wasn't because he is committed enough with any Aussie really you can't question a commitment they make to leave homes/family/jobs to compete in the UK Anyway Jake came to the UK, he hit the ground running riding at no.4 for Ipswich scoring 11+1, 6+1, 9+2, 7 & 8+1 at home from riding at the no.4 position, away from home early doors he scored 10 at Sheffield, 8+1 at Peterborough and 11 at Belle Vue which included an exclusion all riding at the no.4 position - only in 2021 remember! the latter half of the 2021 season his results didn't meet the start he made and in reality he could have done with dropping to reserve but I believe Ipswich had both Heeps & Rowe riding in the 1-6 and they swapped between themselves at the no.6 position Why? Well quite a few of the Aussie riders go home in the winter, they race of course but they also work, and that money is put towards their racing in the UK when they come over, once that money is gone its down to what they earn on track if their VISA doesn't allow them to work, there has been many a rider down the years from when Speedway began where supports would say "if they had some more financial backing they could have been World Champion" etc. its the same for any standard, harder if you can't work alongside riding of course. He had a good 2019 season I believe there is a video of him beating Doyle at Foxhall as a reserve, not many people have done that at Foxhall to Doyley, 2020 was a loss for every rider, 2021 he started well as presumably he had the finances in place, last winter he didn't go home I believe he stayed in the UK, this winter he has gone home so I am hopeful that maybe preparation for 2023 will be better for him with a bit more budget behind him. Not mentioning that he lost one of his sponsors to Covid as well so that didn't help, as for last season as I said I don't think he went home that winter and stayed in the UK, I know he was a bit underpower last season starting in the championship then got called up to the Belle Vue team which was only ever a short-term deal, he then got to Sheffield and was about that time his engines were being sorted (a lot of riders struggle early season with machinery), he then got injured which was a broken scaphoid I believe but was reported as a wrist injury, Sedgman then came in and hit the ground running so obviously he lost that ride - then going back to only having the income from Speedway as a Visa would not allow work, riders like this then find themselves back on a bike sooner than later and that does reflect in performance sometimes on track, some money is better than no money right? I wouldn't know never put myself in a position where I was in a foreign country and couldn't work to top up my racing income... That is why I would never really put the boot in to riders who are not performing maybe as they should, as there are usually lots of things behind the scenes going on, I just hope the fact that Jake has a prem place confirmed as early as now, the fact he will be earning some money back home, the fact he will be racing out in Oz this winter, and the fact that he is probably, well I know he is embarassed by his average in the prem being a 4.00 that he will come back and it will be to the benefit of not only himself but for Leicester & his championship club 2019 averaged 5.56 & 7.33 in the championship there is no reason really why if all things fall into place he cannot achieve such averages again or even kick-on, most of it as I have said above is down to budgets and every rider I believe deserves a budget As for his size, I don't think that is as big a deal as it could be, Hans Nielsen was quite a tall rider and there have been many successful tall riders in the sport in the past, but if the budget is not there due to circumstances the results are not likely to follow This is not to say Jake will achieve the success of 2019 to a certain extent, he may or may not but he has the ability to do so if everything falls into place, its just a matter of waiting and seeing what happens
  17. thats more of a statement than reason, so why was he crap there are definitely reasons behind it
  18. Bagpuss is spot on I was meaning my reply would be typical Speedway I am not sure what I have been told makes sense, I guess on one hand if you have a rider who is a RS like Brennan who could still qualify for it, its better if he progresses to take him out of it for a start he will likely be on better money as he's out of the RS system, so there must be an incentive to take him out and run him in the 1-6, so I see the 25% deduction as fair With others say Hume, he rode well at times last season and people could argue he maybe deserves a chance and I personally believe he deserves to be incentivised for someone to take a chance but maybe promoters want to look at other options as they don't think he will progress any further and there are better options in the 1-6 My other question would be, what happens if Brennan has a poor season, can he go back into the RS scheme in 2024? if he meets the criteria
  19. This is a typical speedway reply but based on what I have been told by someone who promotes in the championship Brennan although in terms of age etc. has the criteria for the RS scheme, his on track performance has seen him graduate out of it, Belle Vue thus can't use Brennan as a RS this season but benefit from the reduction has he is now in the 1-6 of the team i.e. not a rising star though still has the age/experience criteria Mountain & Hume no longer qualify for the RS scheme so will not have the benefit of 25% reduction for getting a team place, if they had still qualified for the system but had graduated from it in terms of performances last season then they would get the 25% reduction Right or Wrong, promoters see things differently I would say, and I guess until one is used in a side we will not know for sure as the rules have zero clarity. Based on that I guess someone like Flint could have been used in the 1-6 at Wolves with a 25% discount but based on his 2022 This has confused me even writing the explanation down where is the SCB when you need them
  20. 25% deduction only counts if they are still eligible for the Rising Star scheme but not used as a RS Mountain and Hume have to make do with the standard 2.5% brit reduction Would Zagar and Hans fit the final two spots? I am not sure why I am even suggesting that because the budget has gone on Doyle and they are just hoping riders find improvement such as King, Riss etc. so any rider in the guise of Zagar, Holder, Shamek etc. are all not on the shopping list
  21. I wouldn't ever base anything off one season in Speedway due to rider injuries etc. always look for me over 3 seasons if there is enough statistics for it, last season was not a great season for Jake but he did suffer from injury which one could argue made his average suffer, should be 7+ in the championship and 4.8+ in the prem at the very least, capable of 8+ and 5+ respectively if all things fall into place I guess in terms of prem Thomson needs that opportunity in the prem to see what he can do
