  1. I believe each meeting has 2 Ambulances in attendance.....One for hospital emergencies, whilst the other one stays and covers. If both have to leave, then the meeting would be stopped until cover is in place. I don't know if what I'm saying is correct, but that's what I think happens?
  2. I agree with your point of view....nobody is suggesting that fans owe clubs anything.... may be some of us old gits are more hardcore than others.....but to want to penalise promoters, who are most likely already out of pocket is a scandalous suggestion IMO! I don't think Peter and David Mason are running our club to make a living.....they're doing it out of passion for the sport! They need our backing to survive and mistakes or no mistakes, they have my gratitude and support unconditionally!
  3. “the visitors in particular weren’t too happy with the track. 'You missed that part of your quote' !
  4. So called fans slating B'ham is a bigger disgrace than B'ham trying their hardest to get the meeting on and struggling..... especially considering how far Redcar had travelled. A lot of bodies associated with B'ham have been working tirelessly for the last 2/3 months to try and get things ready for the season.....there's more to a speedway club than a race track that has to be 'passed' off...... Mistakes happen and as long as lessons are learnt, what more can people do? Trying to punish/penalise the club financially is a disgrace..... Sticking the boot in when the sport is already down doesn't bode well IMO! Give Redcar the win and move on! (blame BSPA for demanding a re-schedule....I bet nobody from B'ham wants it)
  5. The track was ready to go at 7.30pm....Redcar riders made a massive issue about it not being rideable... I'm not a track technician, so we will have to wait for a club statement about proceedings......may be ? From what I could see/tell....may be the track was watered with hoses and it wasn't evenly spread, causing some 'soft' patches in places ? Once racing started, there was no track issues at all apart from 'dust' and rider trepidation.
  6. Who's laughing ???....if Somerset are losing their venue, why wouldn't it be feasible to use the shale elsewhere ?
  7. It was dusty as you'd expect from a very dry last few days.....no water went down once the meeting got underway, but I think that's because of the broken equipment, or may be because rain was forecast ? also the time limits must have been in the back of promoters minds? The track was fine if you attacked it like the Redcar boys did...... If you watched Harris and Wright, who both made great passes in certain heats, you wouldn't think there was any track problems?
  8. Poor Chris was doing his best with limited equipment due to break-ins/vandals.... B'ham management did extremely well to get a track that was ready for racing....under very difficult circumstances. If there's any spare shale going from 'Somerset', is there any chance we can have it ?
  9. Not sure the track was as bad as 'some' are making out? Harris/Wright and even the inexperienced Jenkins didn't have any problems? As for the delay? It was Redcar's riders that caused that.....they complained and tried to get the meeting abandoned. I do think that the result should stand as Redcar were superior once the meeting got underway. Nobody was at fault for the Heat 10 crash...it was a 'typical' first bend incident. Sarjeant jumped the start in Heat 8 and the Ref was too blind to notice. I send my best wishes to Stewart and hope he's ok, but it looked like a broken leg.
  10. Yes....Gating will no doubt prove fruitful tonight....I wonder how many times Sarjeant will get pulled ?
  11. Anders Rowe is developing every time I see him (pre-covid..) he looks to have started the season well and he goes very well around PB....there's a lot of talented riders on show tonight, but I think it could be a case of who's second strings deliver ? It's the first meeting, so more a case of getting the bikes right and getting the track in shape (will be a tough task with the heat/dust....) I think we are in for a treat!
  12. It just looks a poor side on paper.....not sure where any improvements are going to come from? Tero should be hitting his average....especially at home. He's a tough guy with a lot of bottle and I'm sure he'll click soon. Plymouth are going to struggle on every away track with their side.... Leicester look super strong! Will be a great battle when they meet Redcar!
  13. I dont think replacing Tero, will make much difference to a very weak assembled team. Scunthorpe fans have been sold short with that side IMO.
  14. Tero would be welcome back at B'ham at the 'drop' of a hat ! (pardon the pun)
  15. Gutted for Somerset fans and speedway in general.
  16. Even better still (IMO)... develop 12 or so, neutrally selected tracks, conducive to decent racing and have all the meetings happen on the same day. And bring back the Golden/Silver Helmet
  17. Apologies if my topic replies came across abrupt/condescending......certainly no intention. I totally agree with your views of the sports integrity/rules etc.... I hope Berwick have a good season...I remember the days of the 'Templeton bros' (Doug/willie) if I remember correctly.... however I was only 7 years old at the time
  18. A bit unfair to blame the manager? His job is to win a speedway meeting. He should be getting credit for a great away win and a great start to our season. If we shouldn't have been allowed a guest, then it should be the BSPA that need addressing. Having said that, we still would have won if you take away the four points that Nicol scored against a Berwick rider? It all comes down to either wanting to see a competitive meeting, or is it just about winning? Lets face it, Berwick are going to lose a fair few more home meetings, guests, or no guests......
  19. Not sure what all the fuss is about Broc Nicol guesting? He only scored 4 points against Berwick riders? Had we had a weaker 'rider' in his place, it would have just meant that the on form Jack Thomas would've most likely had an extra 2 rides? IMO- it wasn't the guest situation that won us the meeting...it was the unfortunate withdrawl of Etheridge and what looks like a poor performance from Gappmaier? Not to mention some inspired riding by our lads ! Well done LR ....great choice of guests
  20. I wouldn't complain about any team winning the league, if it was full of young British talent !
  21. There's always someone that will complain.....but I'll be grateful and count my lucky stars that I get to see any racing, from any position!!
