Totally agree about the longevity etc.... A team of battlers is fine by me....just hoping that we can provide value for money, as 'blind faith' doesn't seem to last that long with speedway these days.

Has Ellis Perks retired?
-
I can't believe that they would sort a consortium to carry the club forward without having a product to sell.... I'm certain that they know/knew what riders would fit the bill.... The first 3 signings are all reasonable Championship riders.....so far, so good. Biggest surprise/disappointment is to lose Thomas.
-
He could sort the track in between rides.....
-
When will the next signing be announced?
-
Laurence Rogers (Team Manager) is a regular poster on here. I've never been called a 'Geek' before....I prefer 'anorak' if that's ok !
-
Not sure if you're being sarcastic? (If they're not, then they need to be.....) I think you'll find that LR (Boss) is a regular poster on here.
-
Some positive suggestions there....you've certainly done your home work. Tom Bacon is a very interesting suggestion. (Local lad, previous fans favourite....may be slightly ahead of Shanes/Morris on his day...but probably a bit rusty .) I'd certainly give Jack Smith another go and Covatti would be a dream signing. P.s Morris/Shanes at reserve would blow most other teams reserves away.
-
I guess the BOSS knows who he's signing....I suppose we are going to get drip fed as it keeps the B'ham forum post alive and helps towards pushing the club in the spotlight ? I still think Smolinski will be the big one!
-
How can I make suggestions when I don't know who's available?
-
Please....no Bates.... We need to sign riders that will improve on the ones we've already signed, so that's Sedgemen out also IMO....

Can we afford the British Champion???

SGB Championship 2022 Confirmed Signings
GiveusaB replied to bloom89's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Of all the confirmed signings....Plymouth look the team to beat as far I'm concerned. -
Bit harsh s4s.... Don't put B23 off from posting....his posts cheer me up with all this depressing covid rubbishe..... :)
-
Covatti would be an incredible signing.
-
Totally agree with your post....we will just have to accept that a weak team will not attract many neutrals on a ad-hoc basis.
-
Good shout! Jack used to be a quick trapper and he's beat some decent riders at PB in the past. His dad 'Andy' would be a great acquisition to have in the pits too...
-
Yes I know....but the point I was making to AP was that we were always going to sign less expensive riders, not Just because we were choosing from 'what's left' ..... which is what his post referred to.... No matter when we were going to put a team together - October 2021 or December 2021, we were always going to sign riders that we could afford and not riders that the everyday fan had on their Christmas list.
-
Newcastle knew they were riding in 2022, so what's their excuse for another 'poor' side ? (not meaning to sound 'challenging', just questioning the point you're trying to make)
-
Entertaining speedway on a well prepared track is certainly not boring ..... But we do need to sign at a couple of riders that's going to attract the 'neutral' fan... I'm sure there's more revenue in one season from a 'neutral' speedway fan attending, than a 'new' face....(just my opinion...) Back in the 70/80's, I never missed a B'ham home meeting (religion) but my old man would take me to see Cradley on a Saturday and sometimes Wolves on a Friday, simply because they both had riders worth watching....I know it's different these days.....there's no so called 'stars' at any club. Gone are the Box Office days of Olsen v Mauger....Penhall v Carter....Gundersen v Nielsen....to name but a few !! I'm so envious of the 'Poles' these days
-
So far as team building goes? Whatever riders we sign, bham fans are hopefully going to turn up....so for me, looking at the bigger picture...we need to assemble a side that's going to attract the neutral fan once in a while....that's where our extra revenue is going to come from... for me, I would go to a meeting to see decent racing, whether it was bham or not.... so, message to the new consortium, sign a rider that the neutral wud cum to see....don't just sign has beens......
-
What a blow for B'ham!
-
What a shame....great potential.
-
I'm guessing Glasgow will re-sign him, but I like the look of Sam Jensen.
-
Not inspired by that signing at all...... Didnt he quit half way through last season?
