April to October (approx 28 weeks/weds...) Morris only required to be present for 8 Home League meetings- 1 away....no drama really . Moving on...who is going to be our final rider? has to be from overseas due to the delay...guessing its a young Aussie (currently injured) ?
-
We will be stronger if we use the right guest to replace Morris!
-
Very good post...very good points made. The only 'complaint/discretion' I would have, is the fact that the Ellis signing wasn't transparent! Bottom line though....I feel that the Birmingham promotion are a giving set-up....predictions/opinions pushed aside, I'm happy to pay £20 to support them.

May be it's just a case of the Team Manager's ethos.... Winning ruthlessly at all times...or winning with development in mind, as and when. I suppose it could be argued that the manager was more keen to develop Cook, as this would be more beneficial to the team when matches were closely run? As I said...it's just an observation and you can't knock Middlo's success ! I get frustrated with B'ham's manager when he 'doesnt' tactically use the reserves to B'ham's benefit. (but that's a whole different story...)

I can't buy that one Lisa....Ablitt could've taken an extra ride in Heat 12/14 respectively once the meeting had been won. But in light of your comment...I don't think it mattered if the meeting was still up for grabs...see e.g below ? Ht 8: B.Cook, Z.Cook, T.Brennan, C.Bailey 5-1 34-14 [59.41] 16 points up and Ablitt still replaced ? It's just an observation...
-
Incidentally...looking at the stats (coz I'm bored at work...) there was only 4 meetings where Ablitt wasn't replaced at some point. So, if there's anything critical I could say about the Poole team ethics, which means nothing, you would've thought that considering the big margins that they often won by, Ablitt would've taken more rides, giving him more track time, helping his development? (just a thought...) it's all a matter of opinion of course !
-
Top 2 teams Glasgow and Redcar.....Bottom 2 teams Berwick and Birmingham.
-
Not really....looking through Poole's results, there is only one meeting that I can see where Ablitt's point/s prevented a defeat ? (Plymouth at home...) Basically, Poole proved that you can win the title with 6 riders!

Well they did it last season

SGB Championship 2023 Confirmed Signings
GiveusaB replied to Nickinho's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Im shocked that Drew Kemp hasn't been signed by anyone? Birmingham should've gone for him instead of Bowtell ..... -
Will Poole be going for Ashley Morris at reserve ? Final place taken by Ablitt ?
-
From second half events, like in the past....
-
That depends on the Heat format and Team formation.
-
I'm thinking that the better riders should be accommodated in the Championship in some way...Heat restructure etc... And the 'lesser' riders taking part in a second half event....having 3 rides each
-
I didn't look past the 3 riders I mentioned..... You make a fair point !
-
Maybe the 'terminology' of the League is misleading ? National 'No Choice' League ?
-
Ben Morley --- Jordan Jenkins....Dan Thompson NDL ? Really ?
-
One league is the only way forward from a fans perspective/variation etc....IMO
-
I think we need to take a closer look at the doubling up situation? We... the fans are watching 8/10 home meetings... the riders that are doubling up, are competing in 50 odd meetings on home soil .... Maybe, it was the riders that swung the vote to do a u turn on the Championship formula?
-
I think you only need 1 strong reserve....
-
He's ok if he gates....but if he doesnt ? ...... give me Nicholls any day of the week!
-
I agree with Redcar...but definitely NOT Scunthorpe....
-
We lacked a regular No.1 due to 'crap' team building...but we had some great guest appearances to compensate! I'm neither happy, or sad....I'm just expressing an opinion and I think so far as team building goes, 10 points on Morris is a mistake, unless you've got a Scott Nicholls to give him support ....
-
Pearson is the one that should/can improve, so, I see your point (pardon the pun) but I'd stick with him... Its the 10 plus Morris that's going to have the biggest negative impact. I would have sacrificed Bowtell for a 2 pointer and got a stronger replacement.

Not sure...I think I'm just comparing to 'Bham'....would prefer Cook/Pickering Thomson looks useful too!
