As for the topic thread.... I remember Mitch Shirra turning up at B'ham mid 70's for second half events, until they found out that he was only 14 years old ? ...he was 'phenomenal' on a bike ! Unfortunately I can't ever remember him riding for B'ham when old enough? I think Coventry signed him!

Great meeting! I was lucky enough to win Sam Ermolenko's race bib in a raffle on the day . my job at the time was driving for Fed-Ex....astonishingly, the following week, I had a parcel delivery for Rick at his rented home in Walmley - B'ham....I took the race jacket with me and he duly signed it. (it's in my loft....) happy days!

Probably best to start looking for a replacement for Millik...he's a waste of time/money.... Rory Schlein would do better!

If taking it to a last heat decider away from home, was a poor display....God help all the other teams if/when BV get it together! B'hams reserves were the difference!

I think you must have been watching a different meeting? there was plenty of passing from where I was watching the meeting? The consistency of the 'gate' positions are always up for question...but it also has a lot to do with how the rider handles the first 2 bends on approach! (there was a race win from each gate last night...albeit only 1 from gate 3 ) If riders did/do a track walk, then they would've seen where the dirt was/wasnt? they wouldn't need to have to ride it to find out? Pawlicki going down gave BV a 2nd bite of the cherry, had he stayed on B'ham would still have won! ....may be he thought that the race would be awarded? Would like to know why it wasnt? the refereeing has been poor this season! Why no warning for Kurtz moving at the start? Hoping Brennan/Worrall can pass a bit of 'track set-up' knowledge,when B'ham visit BV next week!

I don't get that one either? I'd class previous tracks such as Eastbourne/Wolverhampton/Arena-Essex, as the 'home-advantage' type venues? Failing that....Leicester's gate-'n'-go type track is the new Home advantage for me....simply because the home side can get the bike set-up just right for getting out the starts....

I said pre-season that Cook would be a great acquisition for B'ham in the Prem! The suggestion got quashed...mostly grunts about Cook's attitude? Assuming that he's not a Team player and may be difficult to man manage? This probably relates to previous post (iainb)
