  1. I hope they do....otherwise we've got to ride...... with more guests than a Jonathan Ross show !
  2. The 'Promoters' have been brilliant this season......they've worked really hard to try and generate interest and I think it's been unbelievable they way they've involved the 'kids' (future of the sport) Hats off to the 'management' and their efforts! P.s enjoyed the 'Cycle Speedway' demos....shame they can't get a make shift track on the centre green and make it a regular feature.? I wonder how many kids went home and added a cycle speedway bike to their Xmas list?
  3. P.s May be I'm traditionalist ? but I'm not a fan of the 6 man formula? several reasons....most notably, if an injury occurs during the match ? who wants to watch 3 riders in a race? Also, handicapping riders for 2 mins/tape infringements holds no weight either! There needs to be a 7th man...... imo !
  4. Imo...speedway is dying because 'other' sports are so much more popular....and speedway can't compete with the competition for 'new blood' through the turnstiles! Other sports such as F1/Football/Cricket/Rugby have all progressed to a totally new level and League speedway, has gone backwards. I'm only a fan/follower because I've been brought up on the sport and it's in my blood.....none of the Premiership matches (our 'so called' TOP division) that I've seen on BT this season have floated my boat !? I don''t know the answers....but the speedway product is really poor ! (p.s with the exception of Heat 13 at BV v Somerset last week? Max Fricke was brilliant!) need more races like that !
  5. Wasn't the best racing this season.....may be we expected too much ? Race win times were slower than the NL ones ? : ) I think we have to remember that a lot of the riders still have something to ride for with their respective clubs and may be didn't push it as much as they normally would have? Gappmaier looked impressive, as did Ashley Morris and it was good to see 'Barker's' trademark move on bends 1/2.....first time I've seen it this season....that guy has got some bottle! The only rider that looked out of place, was Lambert ? he really struggled for some reason ? Still, it was good to see '4' riders hitting the first bend from the tapes, as we only usually see 1 or 2 in the NL. Crowd looked reasonable considering ! Well done to the club for 'putting' this meeting together!
  6. My point about the lights as opposed to a clock, is EVERYONE (not just the riders)can/would see the lights(hence no confusion over exclusions) and it will/would add to the atmosphere........ imo!
  7. Well I for one can't wait to see some Championship riders grace Perry Barr.....be great to see Starke/Barker/Ellis/Lambert and Jason Garrity is an entertainer, just like 'our' James Shanes! Btw Avoid M6 NORTH .....broken down vehicle/s causing headache delays yet again !
  8. Have to disagree about a guaranteed Final place? If we 'Birmingham' had got a FULL team, we'd have beaten them at Perry Barr ....for certain ! And in 'Cradley's' defence (so to speak...) they used that many different riders, coupled with the fact that they didn't have as many meetings (at Monmore) 'they hardly had much 'home' advantage ? Not that they needed it !
  9. Just joking Matt......I think Wolverhampton's track has been very inconsistent this season....Wolves are renowned for changing their surface mid-meeting to fox the opposition ! Peter Adams as much as admitted it when interviewed on BT Sport during one of their live fixtures!?
  10. Most likely Cradley's way of trying to slow down the opposition?
  11. and most likely Ricky Wells ? It's bubbling up ! I can't wait for this meeting.......line-ups have changed a lot, but they look quite even and full of 'racers' ....'what a treat for the fans and a bitter sweet end to a terrible season of bad luck' !
  12. You're in for a treat ! The track will produce some great racing ! Watch out for Ben Barker when he heads towards the fence.....'it's very scary' at times : )
  13. I think they've got time to put an 'insert' in ?
  14. Cheers.... The main website needs updating too!
  15. I think it's in the best interest of Birmingham Speedway/Owner's/management to get something out there publicly re: the line-ups ? You can't expect people to turn up not knowing who's going to be riding? We need something 'Official' and legitimate!?
  16. Oh no......it's turning in to another 'circus' .....drives you mad !
  17. May be flashing green lights to start with.....give riders a few seconds to respond and then take action ? Something needs to be in 'black/white' with no scope for discretion of the referee ! Then I also think that a rider should be allowed to start off a handicap as in league racing....not many fans want to see a reserve rider take anybody's place? We pay good money and I expect to see the best!
  18. Absolutely spot on ! Forget all this nonsense debate about the if's /but's, why's/wherefore's etc etc etc..... The Green lights should have been put on ! As soon as the 2 mins clock has run down, the green lights should go on and away we go! The referee was still a cheat....imo!
  19. Never going to be a classic on a track as tricky/dire as Wolverhampton!
  20. Like you say...it should be a cracking meeting, especially if last season's Tony Mole farewell is anything to go by? I think the Mason's are realistic and will understand the lack of interest due to recent injuries (especially to Tom....) It's getting colder too : ) might have to take this one inside tonight : ) LOL
  21. I'm glad that the best team won last night( happy to see any team lose that Ellis Perks rides for )....but sad to see the demise of Cradley....hate to see any team fold, Will miss the atmosphere that only a local derby can create!
  22. WEDNESDAY'S TEAMS (in alphabetical order)BIRMINGHAM: Adam Ellis, Dany Gappmaier, Jason Garrity, Sam Masters, Ashley Morris, James Shanes.PETERBOROUGH: Ben Barker, David Howe, Simon Lambert, Ulrich Ostergaard, Paul Starke, Jordan Stewart Shame about the injuries depleting the original line-up and the absence of 'Bomber'......but still a far better line-up than what we've been used to this season. Hoping that a good turn out can influence our managements plans for next season.
  23. Which seems to be common practice these days ! Commenting on 'Simmo' as a rider ? pure class ! After reading his auto biography, it appeared that he led a colourful life... causing a few controversies on and off the track along the way, but again, nothing out the ordinary these days! Nobody's perfect!
  24. Its riders 'fannying' around after a false start that need disciplining....not riders on the track building up the crowd's anticipation ??? The Polish referee is a 'CHEAT' and he should be banned!
