Indeed, thanks all for your replies, I am going to decide on Redcar. Looks like a tidy team with potential, and the fact that the've got Ben Barker riding for them, someone i've always wanted to see at Lakeside. A shout-out to to Alfie Bowtell for the season, been great to watch his progress, the last couple of years.
All great replies so far, super to see positives from fans nationwide. I'm not in a position to follow a team in person, but will follow and support on all social media, so you "Northern Teams" speak to me!
Okay people, with the demise of my beloved Hackney and Arena/Lakeside, to support over the last 50 years. I want to follow a Championship team with the same passion and interest. Let me know why I should support your team, and I'll make my decision by the end of February. Happy New Season folks and enjoy your Speedway.
British Speedway is a ticking time bomb. Clubs are closing down, but there are no buyers out there. The difference between loss and break-even, is so large that an "ego/self indulging" person is totally not interested.
I just don't understand why today's meetings take so long. My Dad used to take me to Hackney every Friday, on the proviso that we didn't stay for the 2nd half. The meeting would start at 8pm sharp, 13 heats, and my Dad would be back in his local by 9.30. Nowadays you would be lucky to get to the last bell!
He spent the whole meeting on Josh Larsen's equipment. Martin's actions were a bit disappointing, it's a fine line knocking somebody off during four laps, but this happened at the beginning of the 5th, after the chequered flag!!!
We had a whole Speedway Star magazine trying to discuss the "state" of British Speedway, and the above post just about sums everything up. Will the BSPA just read the above.
Flamin' Nora, you've got a speedway team in existence to support, and you moan about nicknames. Yes i'm a Hawk and Hammer no more. Enjoy your live Speedway.
I find it a bit ironic, as the signing of Rasmussen and Schroeck to Rye House, opened the floodgates to drown 2nd division speedway and couldn't then keep afloat it's 1st division. That's how far back this all goes.
