You're not wrong... however it's the boredom of waiting for these announcements... and you know what they say... Nothing good comes from boredom. Unfortunately not; and nothing so "derring-do" covert or surreptitious, it was from a conversation at Peterborough with "Top Men" you know like those in the Harrison Ford Film Indiana Jones and Raiders of the Lost Ark... There’s a scene at the end of “Raiders of the Lost Ark” that always had me thinking.... No, not the one where the crate containing the Team Announcements that are being made are stored and being hidden away in that huge BSPA warehouse (along with all the other crates containing things the BSPA wants to keep from us – the club losses, evidence of alien life, super-efficient bikes saving riders money, cheap engines, the 6 man team proposal, riders sign on fees and salaries, pay slips etc.), but the one just before that where Indiana slams the BSPA agents at whose bequest he recovered the Team Announcements: Indiana: Fools. Bureaucratic fools! Marion: What’d they say? Indiana: They don’t know what they’ve got there. Dr. Jones, the dedicated arbiter that he is, wants the Team Build Announcements to be studied and analysed so that all there secrets can be learned and that they can be confirmed as being fair and equitable. He suspects, with good reason, that the inept bureaucrats in the BSPA will either botch the study or worse, bury it again, hiding all the evidence that there has been illegal practices going on. Maj. Eaton: We have top men working on it right now. Indiana: Who? Maj. Eaton: Top… men. But I think that the BSPA really does know what it’s doing, and hiding the information away like they do is most likely the best option and it was these "Top Men" who must unfortunately remain anonymous who I had my conversation with. I could make something up if you want, just to give the gossip merchants something to talk about, however I am not sure the Diamonds Promotion know what their team is yet; let alone anyone else. However here are a couple of names to conjure with; (and I do not honestly have a clue and have not heard any rumours whatsoever). How about Ulrich Ostergaard, raced on a Sunday last year at Peterborough and doesn't have any Polish commitments (as far as I am aware) and could quite possibly be back at Peterborough this year; so may be open to a doubling up spot. Rene Bach is another Dane who may be in the Newcastle (team) sights; Rene is about to be a Dad and stated he didn't really want to race in the UK this coming year, however he said the same last year right up to the end of February and with the Newcastle/Danish and Sapphire Engineering connections who knows. However Rene does I believe have Polish commitments. Matty Wethers performed well in his come back year and Ash Morris is another then include Carl Wilkinson and Danny Phillips as the reserve pairing and there are 6 names. That lot comes in around 31.4 leaving 6.77 for a Brit and 6.6 for a non-Brit so Kus, Heeps, Newman or Wilson Dean would all fit and their may be a Dane or Two spare down at Redcar to borrow; or a new 5 .2 Dane/Swede or that ilk in spot of Rene which would leave around 8.55 for a non Brit and 8.76 for a big hitting No 1 (if there are any left).... Honesly Gaz I have had my rant and I think you have gathered how annoyed I am at what has went on, however “it is what it is” and “we are where we are” to use a couple of old cliches. I agree how Glasgow conduct their business is up to them however I would have had much more respect if they had done it within the rules and guidelines and if they had not just put out a statement to fans that basically said they were hard up and the club was under threat having had several previous years of losing six figure sums. Then as Laura Morgan has stated they go out and offer £10k signing on fees. There is something not right here but I am done moaning for now. I also fully agree with you the “Chinese Whisper” brigade only compound the matter and do they honestly think ”Dave down the pub” other wise known as the reliable source knows the ins and outs of riders contracts as their comments only fan the flames of the rumour mill and infuriate others. I have stated this is my first year at having to deal with the financial side of things and the setting up of contracts and the way the process is going I honestly think it will be my last. Finally and only as a daft suggestion one way out of the situation would be to say to Glasgow after the AGM go and get your side signed and announced you have two weeks, everyone waits till that happens then the scrum for riders can start in earnest after they have announced, and what advantage would there be in this you might ask, well; you would not have riders using Glasgow as a lever to blackmail other clubs by trying to jack up their rate when the Glasgow team has its seven riders announced that’s it. No rider would be able to say Glasgow offered me XXX as it would have no bearing with the Glasgow team filled. Then everyone else knows where they stand, I know the Glasgow team is sorted however there are still riders trying it on by saying they have been offered a deal by the club when I know it is rubbish. Only human nature I suppose or possibly a sign of the times in this new “Trumpism Age” with a non-traditional political philosophy and approach; fake news, positive briefings and negative reinforcement, when all you want is some fair play and a level playing field. The only other option is for the BSPA to do something and make these types of “illegal approaches” for want of a better phrase, so unattractive to both club and rider that everyone involved adopts a different approach. However I cant see that ever happening. Okay Dickie I will answer this more fully when I am back at my desk Monday/Tuesday as you are talking complete and utter "crepe" and like someone once said "in a few good men" "you cant handle the truth" I will post the tripe I received over a number of texts if you want openness and honestly that isn't a problem. On contract law I can give you chapter and verse and if someone had a British bank account they could then invoice.
