There ya go has the 8 day period been amended to a 7 day period in the supplementary regulations because that was what the whole discussion was about and like I said "So Riveting" I just tuned out but the rule was either changed or was being discussed to be changed due to the shortage of riders... Then after much debate it was decided that it didn't matter anyway because it was our No1 who was out... Regards THJ

Your in the know Neil What's the situation with a No1 and using Guests home and away as I was told this issue was something like away he could ride as a guest for one club then 7 days later for his own club but couldn't ride as a guest if it was the other way round; so riding for his own club first then going to the same spot 7 days later as a guest; or return as a guest for another club within 7 days hence he would be okay on the 8th day Like I said I just tuned out Regards THJ

Honestly Think it might have changed this year IS (or been suspended) as there was a query on Newcastle using Kyle Howarth up at Edinburgh then using him again for the return leg which didn't happen (as it happens) as we went with Tero; then when Leicester were going up there and then when Leicester were coming to Newcastle then something else; then someone else; then I stopped listening because it was doing my head in... but I am sure that the upshot was (before I tuned out) that the 7 day rule was being suspended due to a shortage of riders... As I say I may have picked up the wrong end of the stick because the conversation boiled down to stupid petty rules that only seem to apply to some clubs and not others... at the end of the day whatever Newcastle did must have been acceptable... because they did it... A once done one of the world cup matches at the centre for life in town watching on a big screen but there was to much beer throwing for me... Al have an early finish thanks an sit wid me feet up in me own front room with a few cold bottles of liquid refreshment... hopefully we can get a result in 90 minutes and it doesn't go to penalties Regards THJ

Yep another unadvertised rule change... but is that not different anyway when it is the Number 1... I could be wrong but someone will know for sure Apparently due to the lack of riders and the Covid situation its a set aside rule now unless you are coming with your own club or some such other total load of old pony within the 7 days... I believe it is one of many "Old Rules" that have fallen by the way side... Regards THJ

Leicester Lions 2021

I believe Bridger has sold all his gear Regards THJ -
Crump cant make it because he needs another week or two to sort his injury out (cough cough) so Plymouth call on Charles Wright to fill in as a guest at Number 1 so a bit of added spice with Charles and James going head to head... Fans need to book early to ensure they aren't disappointed especially when our former "Super Dane" Bjarne Pedersen... is coming back... Bjarne Pedersen had a fantastic record when he rode for the Diamonds... 87 meetings with 446 rides... 1073 points and 39 bonus points for a total of 1112 points which included 15 full and 8 paid maximums and ending up with a 9.97 average for his career which puts him in joint 6th place (with Nicki P) on the all time average list in Newcastle colours and he comes in at 20th in the best seasons average list with 10.17 in 2003 and 8th on the all time list for maximums in a Newcastle career... the guy is a true Newcastle Diamonds Legend... This will be a cracking meeting with a strong Plymouth top end and the return of a couple of former Diamonds as lets not forget Alfie Bowtell and then there are the guys who have never seen Brough Park before and watching these riders who will be visiting for the very first time will be good to see, This has all the potential to be a classic meeting Regards THJ PS. Many thanks to Joe Wake for allowing the use of the information above from his excellent book "History of Speedway at Brough Park, Newcastle 1929 to 2018"

Should RS be the No.7
TotallyHonestJohn replied to 2ndbend's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
This Rising Star thing wants done away with... the rule should be if you don't have a 6 average in the Championship to convert down to a Premiership average of 4 you cant race in the Premiership... one of the ideas was to ensure strength at reserve and bring kids on whilst ensuring an even playing field to select from... Rubbish... Why do the BSPL try and restrict teams with ridiculous schemes and apply it across all teams... let the NDL and the Championship do their job and bring these kids on and when they "Prove" they are good enough for the Premiership with an average that has been developed through competitive racing in the lower leagues and can demonstrate that they are ready to race in a more physical and competitive environment then put them in... Regards THJ -
There is the bar area with seats provided and can accommodate 2 people sitting together and the hospitality area as well... if you click on the links on the try booking site https://www.trybooking.com/uk/events/landing?eid=19744 it will let you know what is available... also fold out chairs can be set out on both terracing areas... on the terracing under the canopy there is a walkway that folks put fold out chairs on and it still leaves plenty of room for people to walk past and on the main terracing not under the canopy these terraces are one standard 600 x 600 flag wide and a fold out chair fits no problem. Will Mr Crump be fit for this meeting and if so will he attend as his lad is racing in the 1st round of the British Superbike Championship on the 27th, however if he is passed fit and is a no show Plymouth won't get a facility for him... So I think that means an NDL guest... If he is still injured (cough cough) and Plymouth get a facility then maybe Danny King... How many will Bjarne put on the gate and how many more will Crump add if he turns up? Forecast is for rain at the minute but they said the same for this Sunday.... Score... well I reckon with Stevie Worrall in again we should be good for a 50 40 home win as a minimum no matter what team Plymouth send ... Ruml could score being used to tighter US tracks Steven Goret will not know what planet he's on and will have seen nothing like Brough in his life Zach Cook could struggle as well and it depends which Alfie Bowtell turns up and young Luke will be a good test for JPB... All in all should be a good match and I am also expecting some thrills with the Plymouth top two and a few spills from the rest of them... Regards THJ

Well I thought we may have had some comment from the Leicester fans who were in attendance but maybe not... Not a bad day for racing in the end as the forecast was for it to be battering down but shirt sleeve order was the dress of the day... Track was a bit dusty and an old man with a prostate problem could have put more water down than that water bowser... but they did have a couple of goes... apparently a new bowser is being delivered this week from Belle Vue... as for the racing it was competitive with plenty of passing and personally I was very pleased with not only the result but the performance (which if I am totally honest; I was not expecting) Steve Worrall looks like a Number 1 and delivered a score to underline that with good support from the other 4 who all got wins under their belts even Max in heat 14 which will do him the power of good along with the practice laps he put in after the meeting and young JPB was like greased lighten out of the start gate but lost ground after lifting once out of the gate; and once he gets to grips with that minor issue I think we have a real prospect at 7 and not detracting anything from the effort put in by Joe Alcock... JPB appeared to have a bit more fire in his belly when behind and worked really hard to get back into races; so again I am looking forward to seeing him progress... its a pity we didn't have Stevie for those Edinburgh meetings even just the home one might have made a difference and on that Edinburgh meeting it was noticeable that the times were much faster at around the 63 second mark compared with the fastest time in the Leicester meeting which was 64 seconds.. On to Leicester "Hold me now" because they have a couple of class acts at reserve and I know Joe only got 2 points to Dan's 12 but there was enough shown on the day to think they will both do well and maybe carve out the same future the Worrall twins have and possibly go further again; good luck in their career and I look forward to seeing them again at Brough, Leicester put a lot of effort in and kept it close and if the shoe was on the other foot with the Morris exclusion I would have been a bit miffed as it looked like his rear wheel had been clipped before he locked up and the two Diamonds bailed out; all four back would possibly have been the fairer call but some you win and some you lose; however the biggest disappointment of the day was Ty Proctor and I am hearing he has stepped back from both his Leicester and Kings Lynn slots today and I am not surprised as he looked totally devoid of confidence on a track where he has always scored points... even going back to his Redcar days... and again he could always trap... but the guy looked like he has a lot of issues on his back... real shame as I like Ty as someone I sponsored at Worky however he definitely looks like someone who needs a time out and hopefully he comes back with his head in a better place because on his day he's a quality rider and someone who has performed far better at Brough than the effort witnessed on Sunday... So all in all an enjoyable meeting and seen some new faces in the crowd... all we need are the old faces we usually see back in the crowd as well and we will have things sorted... an opportunity to say hello to Bjarne Pedersen this week as well so it will be interesting to see what he puts on the crowd as it may be the last chance to see him at Brough Park ever again... never say never but time waits for no man unfortunately... Oh and this week I got the Double Cheeseburger with all the trimmings and you can not eat two of them that's official... in fact if they done some Veg and Mash with them it would be as filling as a full Sunday dinner... knocks that old rubbish that used to be served up right into a cocked hat... Roll on Plymouth and if @lewy has the Cojones to show his face the beers are on me big boy... Just bring your passport so they let you over the Tyne crossing... Regards THJ

No its a sensible suggestion and you shouldn't get shot down for it but I believe it is the Stadium owners (ARC) who are dictating the strict terms with regard to Covid safety; because it seems (and I could be wrong) the Council appear to give any proposals to do things differently a fair airing and if the council think whatever the promotion are suggesting to do with regard to Covid safety may work then they seem open to supporting them and giving them the opportunity to try the new proposal. ARC on the other hand don't want you using cash however that's a bit hypocritical when they are taking cash for the drink they are selling inside the stadium; however I don't think the Birmingham situation helped either again could be wrong... but we are where we are As @IronScorpion stated earlier names and addresses taken before entry at Scunny and as @Ringitsneck stated its not beyond the wit of man to put something simple in place to allow for the taking of cash on the day without the need of using pinch points like the turnstile's. All you need is a table in the car park in front of the turnstiles with a couple of people on it and four more tables spaced apart with a pen on each one; a ticket like a raffle ticket that we all know; about and the size of a 5 pound note; perforated up the middle; one half is an entry ticket to the stadium and the other side a place for the name; address and telephone number of the person using it; Buy ticket at first table; fill in name and address at next table where you will find a pen; then just go join the line at the large gates being used for entry; on entry keep your ticket for the rain off and rip the perforated side off and chuck that into a bucket; then if there is a need to track and trace you have a bucket full of names and addresses; or is that to hard. No congregating; no crowding of people; a flow through that follows the same process we have now (which works well) a ticket for the fan should the meeting be abandoned and a ticket for the promotion to keep with all the contact details on just in case of a Covid problem; and how about this; when the restrictions are lifted if there is still the need to socially distance and track and trace you have a bucket full of names for a free raffle for free entry to the next meeting... little incentive to buy a ticket...
