  1. Wow poor Mutley... a can believe it... We went to the The Koh-i-noor Restraurant in town and they did the hottest curry on the planet (allegedly) and if you ate it you got a certificate and I'm not sure they even do it now but a pal of mine said he was going for it... so they bring out this plate full of molten lava and my mate Mick starts weighing in... he's about 8 shovel fulls in and the little waiter guy says ok you have ate enough you have got your certificate and a free meal what would you like... he says I like this boy and I'm eating it... so the waiter grabs the plate and Mick has the other side and is shovelling as much of this stuff down his neck as he can... even the chefs came out the back to watch because what usually happened was people would have one mouthful and give up so my mate is three quarters of the way through this meal before they wrestle it off him... anyway he's doing his nut saying he wanted to eat it and they came out with what looked like a washing up bowl full of ice cream and said here eat that... Mick said why and the waiter said pal we are used to the stuff and even we don't eat it that hot and if you don't eat that there is a chance you will burn the lining off you stomach and end up in hospital... The guy was a legend... I put my finger in it to taste it and it wasn't hot to the touch but it nearly burnt the end of my finger off and I wasn't brave enough to stick my tongue on it and out of 6 of us only one other guy did have a lick off the back of a spoon and he lost his sense of taste for about 3 days he reckoned his tongue was numb for days after.... Should put it in some of our riders tanks instead of methanol... might speed them up a bit... Regards THJ
  2. Howay man Ruff how am a gonna drink a cup of tea with 15 pints plus on board there is barely room for the curry... in fact am sure that's why most of it ends up down the front of me shirt... Some times I only know I have had the curry by looking at me shirt (the carpet; the table top; the dog;) the next morning to see what I have had... A black lab looks pretty cool with a red stripe across his heed from the red tikka sauce or an orange stripe if a get the masala... but trying to get it out the soft furnishings well that is a bit of a do for sure... many a patched work shirt went into the charity bag... in fact you can spend 20 quid on cleaning stuff like vanish and wash the life oot the shirt but if you put it in the charity bag they wash it and you can buy it back for 2 quid... saves a fortune... Regards THJ
  3. Not quite right Jason Vissing getting released had nothing to do with cutting costs... It would have been cheaper to put Kyle in heat 15 rather than James; however James had wanted to try something on his bike and his set up... and presumably practice his rolling starts (Ahem)… so again you are wide of the mark with the last comment... However you are spot on with the bit in the middle... Regards THJ
  4. Aye so is mine I am thinking of going to see the Doctor about it...
  5. Careful now play nice or the thread will get pulled... and you know what happens when a thread gets pulled... Yep... your jumper unravels... Regards THJ
  6. Because you can guest in more than one league in more than one country at more than one time so Sweden Denmark Germany France and Austria... Czech Republic; Croatia Finland Slovakia and Slovenia all okay and Poland any other day except a Sunday or if there is an "R" in the month which means you can only guest in one of the three British leagues... Simple really IS.. Honestly I do wish you would keep up with this "Curry Star" Rating System its the best thing since sliced bread... Oh and mines a Madras I cant do the really hot stuff... no fun when you are eating a Phaal that's cold; drinking cold beer; and your mouth is still on fire eating a cold curry how does that work... tried it once and didn't like it... which is what they should do with this system... Regards THJ
  7. Honestly What the real shame was... is this meeting wasn't bad and there was plenty of passing and some good competitive racing; there was a healthy crowd in the stadium and it was the first time this season the overflow car park had to be used so there were a lot of positives to take out of Sunday; however I couldn't get my second nose bag because of the queue at the chuck waggon which again I suppose isn't a bad thing cos one; I'm fat enough and two; it means the food was selling well although there were no chips available; come on guys "No chips" I'm starting to think this is a witch hunt against fat lads; you'll be selling salad next... however the result was just the wrong way round and its accepted that Redcar have a good team but again apart from the dust off the track it was a good days entertainment... the club have nothing to apologise for IMHO or to feel embarrassed about that's for sure... Onwards and upwards and bring on Berwick this Sunday and lets see how we get on... As a team surely we cant gate as poorly as we did against Redcar... Here's a question has the promotion set up for a change with that strongly worded statement? maybe... who knows but possibly there could be news coming... but all in all there were a lot of positives to take out of Sunday other than the final score and the dusty track... and on that point... this defeat does not technically hit the top 20 biggest defeats at Brough... (that might change when Poole come or maybe Edinburgh again... Doh) that 20 point differential has been matched 3 times in the past and sits in the joint 20th place and those others were 32 - 52 against Edinburgh 27th July 1951; a 29 - 49 against Poole 19th June 1961 and 29 - 49 against Cradley Heath on the 6th August 1984 and on the 21st of June 2012 we pumped Redcar down their place 58 - 37 so "Schmit Happens" and what goes around comes around... however saying that Middlesbrough did do us on the 19th of May 1947 with a 30 - 65 reversal for our joint top (sitting in second place by date only) heaviest ever home defeat; but even Barry Wallace can barely remember that one... As D:Ream said "Things can only get better" and they will... Honest... I think the Berwick match will be much more keenly contested and much closer... Regards THJ Data Supplied from the excellent book compiled by Joe Wake "History of Speedway at Brough Park Newcastle 1929 to 2018"
  8. Nuts... People wonder why I don't like this "Scheme" its Nuts absolutely Nuts... cheers for clearing that one up... Regards THJ
  9. Dan isn't the Rising Star in the Leicester team is he? thought that was Joe? Has someone dropped a clanger? Regards THJ
  10. Yep when you think about it... I just seem to remember him doing the business more on 1 and 2 Ludvig was always 3 and 4 Lemmo was his cut back up the inside of 4 and they seemed to be their favourite little moves which they done at least once in a meeting and more often than not it worked... the likes of Rene and Robbo used to do it anywhere... neither were great at gating but could stalk a rider and pass or just wind it on from behind and go for it... not many can start off 15 and win a race at Brough but I have seen both those guys do it and twice in the case of Robbo... the other guy who could pull a good passing move was Anton Rosen who always made riding a bike look easy... wonder what hes doing these days as he definitely quit way to early IMHO... Never mind things can only get better... Regards THJ
  11. A hope ya right but if it doesn't come back soon the riders will.forget it's there... and to be fair there was nothing finer than watching Lingren go for he big bomb on the outside and lately we have seen a couple of riders go for it and you see them going backwards as there is nothing out there... Regards THJ
  12. If they are having issues with tyres it was only one side struggling with them... IMHO it had nothing to do with tyres On the track... not sure where it was Grippy Charlie Wright put in the fastest time of the season passing Ben Barker up the back straight... also the James Grieves line was 2/3rds of the way out on the 1st and 2nd bends unless my memory is failing and no one goes out where Ludvig used to do his passing in the dirt on bends 3 and 4 as there is nothing there for anyone... no grip whatsoever... and everyone tries the Lemmo cut back on 4 hugging the inside line which can make it rather processional at times... 3 or 4 passes up the back straight which is unusual for Brough and Dickie Juul's advice in the pits must have been invaluable to Redcar... the dust was an issue for sure and the problem with a new track man for me is he potentially won't listen to the home riders and will prepare the track how he likes to see it not how the home riders want to see it... the issue may settle once the guys get dialled back in... and the dust will settle with more water on the track... Newcastle were just not good enough in every department... Redcar were better and stronger right through... it was a good old fashioned stuffing without a doubt... gating was an issue all night for the Diamonds with the exception of heat 15 when James Wright got a massive roller and still couldn't keep the lead... Also what's up with Max Clegg... his body language didn't seem right and on the track the effort just didn't seem there... has his head been turned? He seems to have gone right off the boil... The team is ripe for changes however is there anyone out there who can come in and significanty strengthen the team... some big decisions to be made... Finally I am not surprised any newbie liked what they saw as it was a master class of Speedway... passing with thrills and spills... good entertainment... only problem was it was all coming from the away side... Newcastle were just not at the races unfortunately... Regards THJ
  13. Yep they did to be fair... around 2.30 they went out and done their track walk as I was standing talking to Alfie Bowtell in the pits when they went out... and I was back in my spot around 20 minutes later when they had reached the start gate... so they had all had a good look at the track... No excuses we got taken to the cleaners by a better team... Regards THJ
  14. Honestly I think it is called a Right Royal Pumping... Diamonds to slow from the gate... Bears much more positive.... better team definitely won... Redcar guests were brilliant and the Newcastle engine room at 3 and 4 just had no answer... just didnt fire at all... saying that I doubt we would have won even if Redcar had their usual 7 never mind the quality guests they utilised... My ball ache was the track... we got hauled over the coals for a dusty track and a couple of supposed rotted kick boards on the back straight from the Scunny meeting ref which resulted in the club having to employ "expert track curators"... well sorry... the track was worse and definitely dustier than the alleged problem Scunny meeting... and yes it's the same for both teams but to be fair the Redcar lads adapted to it much better than the home team... Still think if Redcar get their full side together for the run in to the end of the season that they will make the play offs no problem... they are a good team... The only consolation tonight is the Glasgow Tigers suffered a very rare home defeat so it can happen to.the best of them... even a quality side like Glasgow... and Leicester for that matter last night... Regards THJ
  15. I thought an irrelevant had big grey ears; a trunk and tusks? Regards THJ
  16. Leave your brolly at home the good weather is set to hold out at least till Monday so we should be good to go... Haven't heard about Matty after his off at Redcar so will we get a guest or will it be R/R with Roynon coming through unscathed... Regards THJ
  17. Here are the proposed teams for tonight and it looks like Charles Wright is still carrying a bit of a knee injury... Redcar “Agilia” Bears 1. Charles Wright 9.66 (C) 2. Ben Cook (G) 4.29 3. Jake Allen 7.16 4. Jordan Stewart R/R 5.48 5. Michael Palm Toft 7.60 6. Stefan Nielsen (G) 4.23 7. Dan Thompson (G) 2* Newcastle “Grants Event Catering” Diamonds 1. Ben Barker 7.07 (C) 2. Adam Roynon 4.00 3. Connor Mountain 4.95 4. Max Clegg 4.98 5. Matthew Wethers 7.03 6. James Wright 4.00 7. Archie Freeman 1* Strong reserve guests for the Bears and nice to see Adam Roynon back from his recent injury... Be an interesting meeting this and depending on how the guests work out could see the Diamonds nicking an away point here and 48 - 42 should be doable or if those guests take a while to settle maybe even closer; however the three Redcar heat leaders should be good for around 36/38 points between them; again depending on how Charlie's knee holds up.... Could be very interesting... Regards THJ
  18. You aren't the only one who has said this... Cant understand why Ben wasn't picked up at the start of the season... would have been moot anyway because of his hand injury at the Newcastle P&P however he's back firing on all cylinders now (well one good one anyway) and its nuts that someone hasn't give him a go... there are a few Prem clubs that seem to be weak at the bottom end and Ben slots in on a very reasonable average (5.42)... Like I said "Nuts" as he could do a job that is for sure... and improve any team in the league... Regards THJ
  19. Back to "some" normality hopefully with the restrictions being lifted and a mouth-watering clash with our nearest and dearest who will be fancying their chances of getting something out of this meeting... All being equal and baring any injuries from the Friday meeting the teams could or should be along the following lines Newcastle; Ben Barker; Connor Mountain; Max Clegg Adam Roynon Matthew Weathers James Wright and Archie Freeman Redcar: Charles Wright James Sarjeant Jake Allen Michael Palm Toft Jordan Stewart R/R Anders Rowe and Jordan Jenkins Has anyone seen the additional promotion the club have done for this meeting; I am not on social media but I believe that the club have paid for adverts to go out to interested people on Facebook and there were 37,000 targeted adverts which have gone out as of yesterday and over 1500 reposts and likes on the adverts; so lets hope it generates some interest and more fans feel the urge to attend and there will also be ads going out on Metro Radio and Jeff Brown off the BBC is running a feature on Friday night promoting the Derby between the clubs... So something else to watch out for... then of course 500 Redcar fans will be beating a path up the A19 to see the Mighty Redcar Bears strut their stuff at the newly groomed and polished Brough (no longer rough) Park with our new track curator doing the business... Only thing is; and not wanting to put a dampener on things; looking at the weather all this nice stuff is being forecast to break down over the weekend and reverting back the the usual Summer fare we are accustom to; lets hope it holds out and we gat a full house and a competitive meeting with some quality racing... I suppose if it does rain it will keep the dust down... silver lining and all that... Regards THJ
  20. No Yes And the one you forgot to ask "Can you pay on the gate" and the answer is "yes" to that one as well Regards THJ
  21. Ricky is usually a solid performer and although we aren't in normal times this season who would you replace him with... any normal season and I think he may have found himself cut by Glasgow before now but this ain't any normal season and who do you replace him with as there arent many riders out there to slot straight in... I think he will come good and work through this rough patch... hopefully... as he has the talent... we have all seen it Regards THJ A was a bit slow there Gaz because if they are looking and have someone lined up then maybe the clock is ticking...
  22. Steve You just beat me to this... never mind hopefully I can get to start Newcastle 2022 and a brave new world under the same promotion with a bit of luck... Regards THJ
