  1. Riders are only an asset to a viable business and are only a paper value with no extraneous value so when the business goes the (Person) asset goes as well: My pals son played for a Scottish football team which went pop a few years back; he was worth £125k to £150K on paper and whilst the club were in Administration the Administrator tried to sell him for £25k to realise some cash to try and keep the place afloat; however no-one came in for him at that time knowing when the club went pop they would be able to obtain the boy for a lot less than even the £25k... how this scenario worked out was if any club had bought him he would have been entitled to a 5% signing on fee so £7.5k on the £150k valuation; and at £25k that dropped to £1,250 quid so he didn't really want to move either to be fair; so when the club went bust the Liquidators looked to strip the assets of the club; however People; Players; Employee's are not tangible assets of an entity or business so they move on and my pal's son did just that and got a £10k signing on fee off his new club; he got more cash than he would of even if sold at £150k and the purchasing club got him £16,250 quid cheaper than they would have done if they had bought him off the Administrator for £25k... Furthermore since "The Slavery Abolition Act of 1833" people are not allowed to own people its as simple as that; it gives a false impression that because riders (Players in Football) are assets of a club and the club owns their contracts that there is a value in them; however as stated that value is only there whilst the club are trading and should that business stop trading there is no value whatsoever in those assets to the folded business.. very simple analogy however I hope it explains why there were no riders listed as assets by the liquidator... The air fence is slightly different as it is a Tangible Asset however it is also what is known as a Depreciating Asset and as such represents how much of an asset's value has been used. Depreciating assets help companies earn revenue from an asset while potentially expensing a portion of its cost each year the asset is in use and it allows for a portion of the cost to be written off against tax. Depreciation is what happens when assets lose value over time until the value of the asset becomes zero, or negligible. Depreciation can happen to virtually any fixed asset, including office equipment, computers, machinery, buildings, and so on hence why the tractor and machinery were mentioned in the liquidators report as they had some value. Depreciation is intended to roughly reflect the actual consumption of the underlying asset, so that the carrying amount of the asset has been reduced to its salvage value by the time its useful life is over and you can sell a depreciated asset, however any profit relative to the item's depreciated price is a capital gain. ... So if you have wrote the item down against a tax liability over a period for example, to write down the cost of the Tractor to nothing and then you sold it for £1200, the entire selling price would be a taxable gain. So every asset has a useful life, which is an accounting estimate of how long that asset will last. ... This continues until the asset is fully depreciated. Assets get depreciated down to zero or to their salvage value, which is what the company thinks it could get for the asset at the end of its useful life and unless you had a trade in making Elephant condoms I am not sure what you would do with an Air Fence after 10 or so years. Although the amount of times that one has been punctured at Brough I am not sure Elephant condoms would be the best use for it. One simple example is that we have just bought a New VW Transporter for the business at circa £25k and our accountant writes these vehicles down by £5k each year so by year 5 with around 150k miles on the clock these vans are rated as being worthless to the business and if a liquidator came in tomorrow he would spend a couple of hours marketing the van and selling it for say £18 or £20k however if we went pop 5 years from now that van would be scrapped with a 2 minute phone call for £100 pounds as why would a liquidator whose fees are anything from £200 to £2000 pound per hour spend any more than a 20p phone call to get rid of it. So long response to a simple question; however an air fence which cost about £20k around 7 or 8 years back will have been well and truly written off by now and if the club had of went down the pan the liquidator would probably say to anyone who wanted it to take it to save him the cost of disposing of it. Wey hey Wee Nonce Troll McTrollface is back and doesn't understand what he has read and what the Eck he is on about as usual... lets just say if leaving the club with "a debt to HMRC of £158,048" which has been made reference too by the liquidator doesn't show the “mess” left by the previous promotion and that this debt does still exist? and if the collapsing of the old business by the new one doesn't also show that the “mess” left by the previous promotion existed I don't know what more information you require? you need to crawl back under that rock Biffa... Elephant Condom for @Wee Eck to stick his massive tool of a head in please... Regards THJ
  2. Hi SS BSPL don't own the name and there will be no cost involved as the matter has now been resolved Regards THJ
  3. Hey I like Rob as what you see is what you get he's a genuine bloke... He is sometimes portrayed as the pantomime villain but does that not come with the job... There is a great deal more to get upset about in Speedway than Rob Godfrey thats for sure... Regards THJ
  4. Nothing: Berwick are sorted; a peace deal was signed in 1966 by a Russian diplomat and the the Mayor of Berwick. As the mayor said at the time: "You can tell the Russian people that they can now sleep peacefully in their beds". (and their sheep can now roam freely in the hills)(cough cough) Well the first bit is true but the bit in the brackets is just embellishing the story somewhat... if he didn't say that I bet he was thinking it... Regards THJ
  5. Correct... it was apparently a "little misunderstanding" however that nice fella Rob Godfrey got things sorted so @Neila can get down off his high horse and credit to the Chairman of the BSPL for resolving the minor blip... It will save @Neila a couple of quid as he will still be able to use his old Hat; Scarf; Clip Board; Jacket; Flag; Beanie; Pyjamas; Underpants; Sweat Shirt; Polo Shirt; H18tory Hoodie and Advertising Strip in the back window of his car. "Win Win" (Win Win Win Win Win Win Win Win Win and Win) there then Neil eh... Hugs and Kisses to big Bad Rob G as all's well that ends well eh Neil... Come on Workington Barbarians... Oops... Regards THJ
  6. A suppose that's the crux of the question... answers on a postcard please...
  7. Watch this and the question is "Has the Sport really moved on" Regards THJ
  8. Belle Cue? not surprised a Belle End couldn't spell check Belle Vue (only one eye in the head and that cant see), but there you go... and there you go again making things up... but what's new like eh... Northside had a full team and a No 8 rider all set and ready for 2022 until Travellers put paid to the Workington Comets aspirations for next season by trashing the new track and venue... I don't know what the status is with the IOW but I doubt their participation is due to lack of riders... You should stay under that rock and do more research before you start bumping your gums... Regards THJ
  9. Tero shot himself in the foot a bit... he applied for a Tier 2 Sports Persons Visa and it was taking ages to come through so he thought he would apply for a UK Tier 5 Temporary Worker Visa in the mean time... however what Tero didn't realise is/was you have to let the process run its course and you cannot apply for a different Visa whilst one is still being processed... So he got a phone call of the Visa and Immigration people asking him what he was doing (was it dodgy and was he trying to enter the country illegally and other such questions) so then the whole thing got put on stop until he gave some acceptable answers. So when you say he broke the rules yes he did technically speaking... however was it malicious or wilful... No... he's just a bit thick... which also explains the minor issue he had/is having with the track and trace people when rather than being in the house where he said he would be in isolation he was on the M6 heading to Plymouth for a meeting with Scunny... Not the brightest bulb in the box but his heart is in the right place... Regards THJ
  10. Sorry buddy as explained in my very long post some time back it wouldn't be right or appropriate for me to now comment on what the promotion will or will not be doing going forward... however there is some rational and common sense in what you are stating... Regards THJ
  11. What an annoying wee nonce... okay you have got a bite (you've been trying for long enough)... and you have been told what the situation is... however on the issue to hand just about any company can be a sponsor... we (as a company) have just done it for one of our European Employees and as Crescent Girl points out it is time consuming but it isn't that expensive (we felt) and once you can show 12 months of trading you can apply for a Sponsors Licence. The important thing to note here is you should have 12 months of trading and produced a full set of accounts before you can apply to be a sponsor... it has nothing to do with the BSPL it is driven by the British Government and if you don't have 12 months worth of trading accounts you can not apply for the licence so being a new promotion with no trading accounts is a critical factor... 12 month into the job its a different story and you can apply for your own licence (or you can tie into another clubs licence which I wont go into here but it can be done) However costs for a licence are Type of licence Fee for small or charitable sponsors Fee for medium or large sponsors Worker £536 £1,476 Temporary Worker £536 £536 Worker and Temporary Worker £536 £ 1,476 Add a Worker licence to an existing Temporary Worker licence No fee £940 Add a Temporary Worker licence to an existing Worker licence No fee No fee I would suggest that Speedway comes under a small or charitable sponsor as you are usually a small sponsor if at least 2 of the following apply: your annual turnover is £10.2 million or less your total assets are worth £5.1 million or less you have 50 employees or fewer https://www.gov.uk/uk-visa-sponsorship-employers Furthermore the employee (in this case the rider) has to obtain a relevant visa and permit to enable them to enter the country and work which also has a cost attached (for someone)... its complicated until you get your head round it... so any Speedway fan who can get their head around the intricacies of the Speedway rules and regulations book will have no trouble with it as it is only half as complicated as they are... So don't keep trying to correct what you perceive as "some of the nonsense previously spread" as it is blatantly obvious you don't have a clue what you are talking about and worst of all because you don't know what you are on about you think it is okay to make up your own little version and stick it on here as being fact. All this has been covered in previous posts that you thought were nonsense then however hit the link and look at the facts and apply them to the situation to hand and you will see the facts (FACTS) for yourself its all there to read... There are none so blind as those who cant see... or aren't prepared to and who would much rather be an antagonistic little Pratt... Regards THJ
  12. So there you go and numerous clubs have moved venue and retained their historical names so naughty BSPL I would say Regards THJ
  13. Like I stated earlier the Comets name isn't copyright and it's not a registered trademark so why are the BSPL looking for a fee from it... no one owns it...I'm not even sure they are following their own guidelines... I can sort of see where they might be coming from with the regulation put up by @Marksman 're Chapter 14 Junior Leagues but all they should have said is once you come back into the Champ or Prem you can use the Comets name please use something else for now... after all the junior team was always called the Meteors.... when they had two teams... However in recent times when Brum and Eastie dropped down a league did they drop their main club name? I'm not sure but I don't think so... so I honestly can't see the argument and how they .can enforce it... When Belle Vue moved venues did they change their name... there are precedents to support Workington to be called the Comets that would stand a legal test... Think the BSPL are shooting themselves it the foot with this one... but at the end of the day a name change wouldn't bother me one bit and certainly wouldn't stop me from attending meetings... Regards THJ

  15. For those who can get it there is a piece about Worky Speedway on BBC Look North tonight... Regards THJ
  16. Possibly but it wasn't a very clever idea to set fire to a pole with two 11KV transformers on it and live 11KV cables either... the cost of these and the damage they caused and the works that will be needed to be done to reinstate them will probably cost more than what they got out of the cash machine and the cost putting that thing back in; it was going to cost the thick end of 60K just to have it moved 30 metres shortening the cables and using the same transformers... that will be in excess of 100k now to resolve that little problem... so the only good thing to come out of this is the "Scum" have removed a viewing obstacle for free as it wasn't going anywhere fast at those prices just getting a padded jacket fitted... Well there's a story that will cause some debate... The new promotion were being asked a silly amount of money to retain the Comets name which is a bit rich when it was Ian Thomas who came up with it and I don't think it is has a copyright on it; however I don't know what is in the BSPL rule book regarding club names and who ultimately owns them... someone may know... But hey ho stick my vote down for Workington Warriors... or Workington Barbarians...or as matey boy up at Berwick used to say the Comics of Workington and they will still be able to use the big blue "C" logo... Go Workington Comics.... and after all old Captain "Windbush" Comet would look splendid in a "clown outfit" he's already got the big red nose... Go on Andy I dare you... PMSL... Regards THJ PS. Alan we all love you really... (or is it now Coco)
  17. Well Well Well… oh ye of little faith eh... I didn't think it could be done but here you go... News hot off the press so to speak... The travellers have been evicted (again)... the gates have been repaired and locked (again)... there are now CCTV cameras in operation (good)... and three of our little friends have been arrested and locked up and another two are on the run (Ho Ho Ho Merry Christmas)... so there you go three nil to the police and two off the crossbar... nice when a plan comes together and the boys in blue get a result... Carlsberg don't do News Flashes but if they did... (and its official I will be smiling all day) Regards THJ
  18. So just keep responding to this one 2022 and let the other one just fade away... problem solved Regards THJ
  19. Ya not wrong Although not political nor a Tory fan I got annoyed with that Dan Walker having a go at Dominic Rabb this morning not getting enough people out of Afghanistan and over here after the pull out... as 95% who were entitled to come were possibly left behind and some had been murdered which is an absolute tragedy; and he asked if Rabb felt guilty about taking a holiday and not responding quick enough: however if it had of been the other way round and he had let 95% in without checking them and he let in murderers criminals or Taliban sleepers he would have been slated for doing that... He couldn't win whatever stance he took and I m getting fed up with the contradictory/confrontation all the time... not everyone wants to be "Woke" there are times when people have to stand up or be called out for injustices however the people on the receiving end need to be part of society and want to be included... like these travellers they create havoc everywhere they go with their criminal actions and not following the rules and ultimately contribute nothing to our society... however they work the system to their benefit and tread a very thin line... we should be coming down on them like a ton of bricks... the Ray Mallon policy of "Zero Tolerance" until they get the message that their behaviour is unacceptable... live within the law not outside of it... Regards THJ
  20. Well here is the latest Read this... https://www.newsandstar.co.uk/news/19732908.cash-machine-stolen-dunmail-park-workington/ Now this was just before they got onto the Northside site however where was the cash machine container found yep you guessed it... Northside... 2 and 2 adding up to anyone Break in at Northside Friday; steal spare batteries and set fire to the pole holding the 11KVA transformers that to be fair was causing a bit of a problem in the centre green of the track and was going to cost 45k plus VAT to move... However fire brigade come and put the fire out and save the day. Sunday and another break in at Northside with every portacabin and every container accessed (even the big steel container with the knackered hinges that three big fat blokes; or 60 stone of muscle as I prefer to call it could not access) and they get in and steal a container full of diesel put it under the 11KVA transformers and set fire to it again; this time the fire brigade come out and cant do anything with it because it is live and 11KVA and the pole goes over North West Electricity come and make the thing safe and isolate it. However in the mean time all of Dunmail Park went off including a large ASDA store. The police actually thought it might have been to cause another power outage to have a second go at the new cash machine but no just the copper. As low and behold they were back Monday (Yesterday) and stripped the transformers and went through all the site cabins again to sweep up anything metallic. The police were called and it took them 3 and a half hours to arrive and when they were asked what they were going to do they said "we will get a court injunction but it will take months" and when asked if nothing could be done quicker they said well we could do something on a Section 61 which can be used in certain circumstances (for example, where the Gypsies/Travellers have with them six or more vehicles), officers may use powers under Section 61 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994. These powers will only be used in situations of serious criminality or public disorder not capable of being addressed by normal criminal legislation and in which the trespassory occupation of the land is a relevant factor but the cop said we wont usually do that as the police are bound by the Human Rights Act and can be constrained to avoid using Section 61 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 in circumstances where it would preclude welfare considerations from being applied by the civil courts. Honestly these people know how to work the system to their benefit... but the one question I would as is stealing a Cash Machine and destroying an 11KVA pole and stripping the Transformers not serious criminality? How much can they get away with? So that's it anything of any value has been removed off site; all the plant ground moving equipment and tractors have been moved back to their respective depots and all works has stopped until this problem has been sorted. Which could be months off yet... Could there be more trouble ahead? Probably... Regards THJ
  21. It happens in other parts of the County let alone the Country Home Group had an issue with them in Maryport with an Unauthorised Encampment? as they are affectionately known as when they undertake a land grab and it took months to get rid of them and Home Group had all the legal support of there own inhouse legal team. They got them off the site and then they accessed trough a different point 24 hours later and all the legal work they had done was in vain and they had to start the process all over again... when they finally got them off for the second time they then had to put security on the site for a couple of month and remedial works in place to make the site inaccessible with barriers; gates; fencing and mounds of earth and rubble... the whole thing is a joke... These Unauthorised encampments (UEs) are defined by the Government as "encampments of caravans and/or other vehicles on land without the landowner or occupier's consent and constituting trespass" what I don't get is... if it was a normal person trespassing their feet would not touch the ground and they would be prosecuted to the nth degree the Law would allow but these Bar-Stewards get away with it... The governments recommended way to keep travellers off your land is by using Security Cameras and Guards which they say are some of the most effective ways to protecting your land against Gypsies and Travellers but can prove costly (No Poop Sherlock). Bollards or other natural obstacles can be used as a substitute. Natural Obstacles such as trees or water make unauthorised entrance to the land harder... However what the government don't say is that all this costs money and once they are in; they are pretty difficult to extract and to steal a line from an old Arnie movie they dig in "like an Alabama tick" Problem is this lot are tooled up and if someone tried that they would probably get their legs blown off... but I fully agree with your sentiment Regards THJ
  22. It's a problem the locals have had to put up with for a long time now... unfortunately...
  23. They not only have the backing of local councillors they have the support of the local MP but with what they are dealing with in lawless scum who opt out of society it will always be a difficult situation until possibly the whole site is developed and there is no land for them to park up on... Regards THJ
