  1. Use of the tubeless rims and tyres in the UK is currently banned on the grounds of cost.
  2. I didn't realise Orlando was in France? Because that's where he is flying to today
  3. He's just one of those riders who it seems is an easy target for the keyboard warriors of today. That seems to be how society is these days, everyone loving to pile on with the insults at a moments notice
  4. I don't think they were dirty, just a hard race where both wanted to win badly, drew was missing about 8 spokes from his front wheel when he came in which kind of explains the last lap
  5. Agree completely, the simple fact is after heat 3 Leicester never won a race until it was all over in heat 14. If you don't win a race you can't get a heat advantage. Not enough race winners particularly the heat leaders
  6. Not obvious to everyone unfortunately
  7. everyone is so desperate to do it, they are all ringing their respective team managers begging to be given the chance? Team managers still can't decide due to the overwhelming interest and demand? Must be it
  8. It's a very fair point, especially when you consider he was riding at number 7 which has an easier set of opponents than number 6. In theory the 7 berth was for the rising star, but Peterborough used it to their advantage with Ulle, many other teams started with the RS at 7. Ulle had a great start to the season, was high on confidence and riding very well, but no one in their right mind was ever going to suggest he could have maintained that average riding at number 1. Sure, he rode well at Sheffield, that one time at #1, but he does like that track, PLRC Champion I recall. The cards fell in Peterborough's favour and they played their hand well. Yes they were fortunate the timing of when he got injured, but they chose well in 2021. They then chose poorly in 2022, but hindsight is a wonderful thing.
  9. I totally get what you say, and agree completely that speedway in the UK is operated INSPITE of the people who run it, not because of. In general, they are clueless, corrupt, and I despise 90% of them. But they own the business model, it's theirs's to do what they want with. They play like most sports, on the fact that Fans feel some connection, when in truth they are just customers of a product, who in general will suffer all kinds of ill treatment before finally giving up their affection for a brand In my youth, I used to think that many professions had integrity and honour. Politicians, Police, Teachers, Solicitors, Accountants, to name just a few. I now know that's not the case, so my life has fewer disappointments. I no longer expect anything other than to be lied to, I just now look for a few "good" people amongst a sea of distinctly "average" or "bad" people. It's just a shame like you say, because speedway "could" be so much better than it is. But sometimes this place just becomes a centre of excellence for moaning. Just when you thought you were fed up with the sport, someone else pops up and suggests something else to moan about.
  10. Mate, It's a bit of sport, it's a bit of entertainment, It's not Russia Vs Ukraine, no one is dying in the streets. Stop getting so het up about the integrity of this or that. If you enjoy watching the sport, go watch it,if you don't, then don't, but sometimes it looks like people just live a weird life on here moaning about everything. Let the promoters get it wrong, it's their right to if they want to, they own the business. But if all you are going to do is get wound up about everything other people do that you think is wrong, you're going to spend a lot of your life being disappointed and angry at the world.
  11. BSPL Meeting, gate receipts to them, BSPL pay the prize money, so makes no difference. Any incidental income/expenses for the clubs involved? They have the same Owners, so I hardly think anyone is going to lose as much sleep over the change of venue as you are
  12. People see what they want to see, and will apportion blame where it suits. Some will seek to blame the referee, some will choose riders, some will choose the rule makers. I think the one point I would make was that for me Christina was very consistent in her application of the "rules" Personally I disagree with most of the decisions made these days, where the slightest contact results in a rider taking a dive and getting the decision, but that is very much how the sport is decided these days. Anyone thinking Holder should not have been excluded when Wright went down in the first leg must also agree that Brady shouldn't have been excluded in heat 1 of the second leg, both occasions where a rider made a forceful move with minimal "rubbing" on the way through, the rider on the outside could easily have straightened up and conceded the move, but instead chose to take the contact and chance a get off and reinstatement. For me this is how speedway is going. I'm not keen on it, but it seems to be the norm. The reality of both legs was if you went up the inside of someone and there was the slightest of contact, you were deemed the guilty party. At least she was consistent in that regard
  13. Online ticket sales are great until someone realises there's a record of them. Cash is King
  14. Speedway is becoming too like football these days with people “looking for contact” and being given decisions
  15. you could say that about Greg Hancock to be fair. In modern speedway, if you are good at one thing, be good at gating.
  16. presumably we are now going to have 4 days of "we're the underdogs", "No! we're the underdogs",
  17. Go back and check that discussion, you'll see I was one of the main contributors to what had actually happened, because I was in a position to give some facts. And if you think I'm a newbie to the sport and just watch from the side lines
  18. If it does go ahead as outlined it will be interesting if they try to rearrange every rain off for a Thursday, (which I expect them to do) rather than any other day which may be available for the rescheduled fixture. I could even see them rearranging a rain off for a Thursday and having a practise on the following Sunday. Then the next year there will be a desire to remove the rain off only caveat, and gradually over a few years they'll acquire an extra day for full use. Sweden will capitulate as Thursdays were in the past really Alvenskan league days, it's only recently they've used a few for the top league. I think we all know where this is heading. If the BSPL vote to agree to it, they better up the points limit and budgets, to get GP riders here, because they will have given away a race day in exchange for an increase in the availability of top riders, so if they drop the points limit and build on the cheap, what's the point? So that's what some of them will no doubt vote for
  19. Infamy, infamy, they've all got it in for me. Whatever you do, don't let facts spoil your post
  20. GSA figures give you facts, whether you like it or not. People now seem to want a different system that deals in feelings or whether someone had a good or bad night here or there. People are then going to argue about how the facts came about. Finishing last by being dog slow or finishing last with a puncture after leading the race for 3 laps is still 0 points from 1 ride. Is Lambert better than Fricke? when he has a good night yes, but when he has a bad night no. The system isn't perfect, but sometimes I don't know what some of you really want. It seems to me some people want something to moan about more than they want to watch 4 guys, racing 4 laps with no brakes. Half of the people on here don't even go or watch speedway these days, they seem to get their kicks by moaning on here. If that is what floats your boat, crack on. For the record, I think Lambert and Fricke are pretty even overall. At the start of the year Fricke was probably better, by the SON, they were pretty level, and at the moment Lambert is the better rider on form. You can argue all you like as to who is better, all I know is I don't mind watching either of them at full tilt on a good racetrack. Belle Vue brought him in to replace one injured GP rider with another, a couple of members of the BSPL spat their dummy out and withdrew the permission with their own self interests at heart, and neither of them were the opposition promotion at the time. Just another example of where independent governance would work better than what we have at the moment.
  21. So now the UK promotions have to keep an eye on Polish weather forecasts as well as their own. I certainly think the poles have the better side of that deal. Makes it less likely Thursday clubs will sign Extraliga riders but the poles were never going to give up the 1 league rule without getting something back in return
  22. I just think they don't build teams, they build a group of well paid individuals. It'll always be that way if you employ the same type of riders. I've been in and around every team in the pits for many years and they all say the right things, but they don't build a real team spirit.
