Leicester lions 2023 (PREMIERSHIP)
wtf replied to PhilTheAce's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Andersen could easily do the same if you give him a home track that is difficult to pass on. He's been one of the worlds best at defending a lead for a long time. If he had Leicester as a home track he could easily put a point on his average. -
Strong team for sure, will be very interesting seeing how they go certainly early doors. Lidsey may take time to settle and learn tracks and set ups in english conditions, but it's not like he's a heatleader from the start so he has time to settle in. Brennan starting in the main body, he will have pressure to maintain his upward trajectory, hopefully he continues to progress, but it's never easy starting in the main body for the first time. I don't expect Dan to get it all his own way at #1 either, particularly at the away tracks. Brady and Charles will be what they are. Don't underestimate Mulford, he has speed and race craft and at the NSS could score well. Away very little expected of him, but he has ability. Blodorn, I rate highly, If he has Robbie with him next year I expect him to continue improving. He scored pretty well last year seeing as how he was visiting tracks for the first time a lot. What impressed me the most was how he improved and learnt during the meetings. Sheffield are very strong and start favourites for me, but this team has more potential improvement in it so will make for some good matches for sure

How consistent do you expect a 5.5 point rider to be? They are what they are by definition -
It would be a really good track for him, he has genuine speed. Chucks his toys out his pram a bit, but if Lemon can get that out of his game then could be a really good signing.

not Wozniak, that's for sure

Correct

Further East

he's already somewhere else

I somewhat disagree. Monmore is a tricky track to master, consequently a LOT of riders want it as a home track. It gives them a significant advantage in earnings potential for half their meetings each year. It's a bit of a closed shop with many riders wanting to return year after year. Riders stay there for long periods. It can be quite clicky and difficult for outsiders to get in and established there. CVS often goes with tried and trusted riders because some riders just cannot ride the track however much they try. Wolves does not have a shortage of riders wanting to be there.

Come on Steve, there is no room for facts, this is an internet forum. It'll ruin everything if you introduce facts

I think most riders do first time or two they go there, plus their opposition is well dialled in there. Both cooks show a lot of potential, next year will be interesting, with a lot of new tracks, but they seem to adapt pretty quickly. I think Zach will need a little time both home and away, but should prove a good signing. He makes good starts pretty consistently and once he figures out the lines and gets an engine that suits the track, he'll be pretty competitive I'm sure.

Exactly right, being in successful teams competing for trophies simply means extra meetings, more pay days

If you want to believe that they do all or any of those things that's fine -

unless he's going to be presenting TV when PL fixtures are on? I also think people are over thinking what a captain does these days in speedway, which is pretty much nothing. -
If you don't want to pay £20 for 2nd rate entertainment that's fine, we all are only ever going to pay for what we value. And we all value things differently. But please stop blaming riders and calling them money grabbing when idiot promoters are paying them what they cannot afford. That's like blaming Mcdonalds for making you fat! Are you seriously suggesting they should give back what they are being offered and say No that's too much! pay me less

The unfortunate facts are that as per ONS statistics the over 65s are the wealthiest group of people in the country. They as a group have the largest amount of capital, and whilst like any group of people by age there are some who are not well off, as a whole they have the most disposable income. Most under 65's have higher incomes, but are still paying mortgages and funding kids and god knows what else. But from a business point of view, when presented with those facts, it does seem a little absurd to be offering a discount to your wealthiest customers. I'll now stand back and wait for all the over 65's to explode as to how ageist these statistics are Remember folks, this is a group of people as a whole. It may well not apply in YOUR personal case.

I would also add, 'a rider who scores a disproportionately high number of bonus points' previously -
Zach will be a second string

Heat 1 also has the added advantage that there is rarely a question mark over where on the track to ride. If you make a start and hug the kerb, it's not often you'll get passed. Obviously the No 1s have an outside gate, but if you ride at 5 and are out in heat 4, the track can be starting to develop by then where there can be more than one line. Truth is some riders like going out in heat 1 to set the tone, some really do not.

Holder's golf isn't of sufficient standard for him to be considered at Ipswich just yet
-
I think that honour is being reserved for another team. (using Hume at 6 and a rising star that is)
-
It's not the riders wage demands that puts the club or any other club at risk, it's the idiots running the club who choose to pay what they can't afford that puts the club at risk. It isn't the riders responsibility to make sure their wages are affordable to a club. If someone is stupid enough to pay stupid money, that's on them. I mean, who the hell would pay £15K for 3 meetings? Depends on what it's worth to them. Promotors need to stop blaming riders wage demands for the insolvency of their businesses. If you can't afford Rider A, don't employ them.

An outline deal had been done with Nicki but it fell through unfortunately. That much I do know

I'm sure there is no bias here, I mean from a Wolves supporters' point of view Ipswich were so poor that they beat wolves twice at Monmore, twice at Ipswich, then again in the pairs at Monmore and in the pairs at Ipswich. Shocking team
