I judge what would be better based on the oval bit covered in shale, rather than the atmosphere in the grandstands. Others may have a different view?

Nothing stops the UK making a similar rule to the Poles. Maybe we should have a rule that says if you ride in the UK you can't ride anywhere else? Why can't the Poles do what is best for them? Why should they prop up the joke that is UK speedway?
-
To be fair, Sweden and Denmark have a different business model base on much fewer fixtures, so require fewer dates. when all is said and done, the Poles haven't said you can only ride in Poland, and therefore the UK is competing against Denmark and Sweden, not Poland. The UK needs to be an attractive place to ride speedway if you want the best riders. If you ask the current riders what the UK has going for it, you'll find the responses are normally: plus points: Lots of meetings No Squads Variation of tracks UK income Minus points: Less money extra costs, equipment, bikes, mechanics etc Poor tracks (quality of preparation) More paperwork If you want to attract the better riders, work on the Minus points, but not all riders want extra meetings and travel. Of the three GP riders over here now, they all have their reasons for choosing the UK over essentially Sweden. Many Danes have to ride Denmark to satisfy sponsors. What they don't seem to understand is we are not competing with Poland. If we want better riders we are competing with Sweden, or Denmark

Stripes (Glasgow) Vs Oxford champ 17th June

I think Glasgow are looking pretty strong throughout, there will always be ups and downs with the top 4 but they are a pretty strong unit. The tail I think will look after itself. You will probably have one of them struggling in the main body of the team, but will always have two strong reserves to counter that, so they can cover. If any one of those three goes into the main body and steps up, then you look a VERY strong team. It's a lot of pressure on Tom Brennan, but that's how you find out how good you are and so far he's going the right way. the engine room terrifies every other team, because I don't know any rider who wants to go up against Ulle and Basso. Neither of them know where they'll be riding on the track so the opposition will always be wary Glasgow, Poole and Leicester are the stand out teams for me. Poole's top 3 have to perform every week as their tail is longer, Leicester and Glasgow are pretty even strength for me. It's going to be fun watching -
But to convince one to come over here for half a season ain't easy. If they don't have everything set up in the uk, they need to get 2 more bikes, engines to suit, van, mechanic, somewhere to stay etc. A complete new set up. which they can't use anywhere else during the season. Riding the the UK is a big commitment ££ for the first time for the rider. But a Dane, Czech, or German lad can easily pick up extra meetings in Europe using the same kit they have at the moment. That's the biggest issue before you even start getting into Visas etc

Just don't understand why we have a National Speedway Stadium if we don't use it for National Speedway Events. What's the point? It's like playing the FA Cup final at different club grounds every year just for hoots

No he didn't he chose the UK over Sweden not poland.

What the PZM are doing is no different to anyone else offering a contract of employment. they are imposing conditions on that employment that no one is forced to sign, but they do. It's no different to you getting a builder round to build an extension and agreeing to pay them a large fee if they only work on your job and one other at the same time to minimise problems that other jobs they do could take them away from your contract. the builder can either sign the contract with the big bucks or not and go work elsewhere. The PZM are only doing what's right for them (why would they not?) The riders if they stuck together would have huge power, but they never will as they are all trying to get one over on each other anyway. they are competitors for jobs at the end of the day. If you pay peanuts you'll end up with scraps

I think the Referee had a bit of a shocker. Its not like half the others weren't moving at the starts either

The biggest problem with all uk tracks these days over what was available in days gone by are the materials available and what the environmental police will allow you to do. the reason most tracks are clay based is simple. It's available and it's cheap. traditional red shale is still available but it is horrendously expensive. the second is that many things used to be added to the track surfaces in the past to get the shale to bind together and provide grip. the surface now just turns to powder and dust and doesn't bind, hence you go to very slick dusty conditions much more quickly these days. I know in the past from talking to old track curators. The old waste oil used to be mixed into track dressing, to get it to bind. obviously this is no longer allowed. What you have now on most tracks amounts to no more that mud and dirt with some clay mixed in. Add water and this is what you get. Obviously the idea of allowing oil to be put into the ground (from where it came) is a bad one apparently. the tracks of yesteryear are impossible to re create because of that.

No one wanted gate 3 including Doyley, it was a graveyard, but Troy managed to get off it both times, with a sneaky little roller, but that's the name of the game.

The contact going into turn one had effectively finished his race, he took a chance and it worked. Just like 95% of other riders would -
I think it's the only way they could keep Bomber out of the meeting

He did ride it in '05 '06 time. But it'll be like a new track for him now it's changed so much. Bet he won't recognise the stadium more than the track. -
Don't believe everything you read on the internet, after all speedway fans and even more so, promoters and managers are such a reliable source of information
-
Maybe that's exactly what they are now doing?
-
The only saving grace is that panthers can only strengthen with the approval and funding of your owner
-
Just really surprised with them picking Ryan Douglas. He spent most of the night demonstrating that he can hardly ride the place. Maybe he should have been commentating and given his place to Sam Master's usual partner? But that would probably ruin the Aussie love fest at Wolves
-
Foxhall with quality riders does make for an absolute borefest I'm afraid. It seems the only way to liven the place up is by having riders make mistakes. When they generally don't make mistakes it really can be dull.

Harsh................. but Fair

Until now

I’m convinced you’re right in that. TBH he has been the same at team riding his entire career

Good to see Doyle wheelie over the line to celebrate another loss
