  1. He did. What actually happened was: tried his 2nd engine at Glasgow which had been good previously, but after first heat it wasn't good, so swapped to 2nd bike with his usual Workington engine. After his 3rd ride that engine blew up immediately after the race snapping its camchain. Back onto first bike for heat 13 with some big changes and managed to get a win whilst feeling slow. For Workington, now only had one bike so borrowed an engine from Jacob Hook ( as his workshop is in Workington) that was "strong" so that he had 2 bikes (the alternative was a 20 hr round trip to home to collect a spare engine, but only had 19 hrs before the next meeting). Tried Hooky's engine in the first 2 heats but struggled to get out of the starts with it ( heavier flywheels than normal may have been the difference? but jumped back onto the underperforming engine again for the last 2 rides and made some radical changes again and managed to win heat 13 again with a massive cutback off the first turn and a defensive ride. Was out after the meeting on that same underperforming engine trying some other radical changes to see if they helped it to perform better. So a frustrating weekend some high points, some low points and no doubt a big bill to come too. Hope that explains what happened
  2. The riders don't get paid for superheats in general
  3. Year before when he was at Birmingham in the pairs on a soaking wet race track
  4. I think their respective CVs might paint a different picture
  5. If that's the case and it's so obvious, it makes you wonder why the promotion chose one over the other?
  6. I'm not sure he's been awash with phone calls, he's on an awkward average where others want to take a chance on an unknown and gain an asset. I'm not sure how much he can do to push on by forcing a move elsewhere?
  7. You're right about Tate and Antti still learning away tracks and any other newcomers having to learn away tracks will make the Comets suspect away from home. Personally I can see Jye being a big improver this year. He'll love his new home track and the wide open spaces, plus from the teams point of view having someone else in the team who knows all the away tracks will be essential. I can see Jye adding 1.5 points on his average this year. I think Jye at his worst is a 5.00 point rider. I think he'll be a good improver and will be good for the team too.
  8. Not sure where you were Friday night, but I guess 1 out of 7 ain't bad😉
  9. He’s had several offers and will be spending most of his time travelling ooop north 🤣
  10. Couldn't use Starke, he was in the play offs for Workington. But I agree they should have found a better guest
  11. Jim was there in person last night, so will have witnessed it first hand.
  12. Best bet if he could fit would be Voulas, but he's entirely the wrong nationality for Lemon
  13. Whilst it's far from ideal, Workington could get away with RR for Tate at home with extra rides for Troy, Claus and Antii. Away from home where Tate has been learning new tracks and his scores reflect that, well chosen guests could work well.
  14. It’s clearly just very convenient to exclude the guy who’s now out of the meeting rather than the one who momentarily loses control, makes contact with another rider pushing them into the fence. Decision is a joke
