  1. Maybe its just against Worky but from what i've seen in recent seasons if you aren't in the first two coming off turn 2 then your race is done. Watching the racing last night suggested that a lot of the riders think the same which is a shame. To their great credit Dan and Rene tried there best to pass right up to the chequered flag but the track never offered them a great deal to work with. Go back 24 hours to Derwent Park and some of the racing was very good because the track offered the racers something they could exploit. Steve Lawson has prepared a track over the last two meetings which although a bit drier than ideal has produced some exciting racing. You also need riders with the right mind set and ability to give it a go from behind, not enough appear genuinely willing to do it these days
  2. Tight meeting with never more than 2 points between the teams until after heat 15 when Comets took a match deciding 5-1. On a track where good starts are absolutely vital it was the 8 last places and a retirement from the Bandits which ultimately decided the meeting. Gappmaier after looking pretty poor at Worky the previous evening was probably Bandits star man with 12 points from reserve , not sure why he didn't get 7 rides, Spud was solid again as was big improver Jye Etheridge after running a last in his first ride. Dave Howe and NBJ with only 5 points between them had nights they wlll want to forget. For the Comets all the boys contributed. Dan was sensational in his first two rides from the outside gates before finding out how difficult it is to execute a pass at Shielfield if your behind after bend 2 lap 1. Rene was competitive all meeting and looking like the rider we all know again. Mason deserves a lot of credit for being involved in 3 heat advantages in his first 3 rides 2 of which were 5-1's. Rasser dug deep in his latter races to help secure the points, did a fantastic job in heat 15 after a late call up following a tape offence by Rene. Nicholai just got better as the meeting went on, can look so classy and is great from the tapes . Like Ty in the Shield meeting draw he won his last 3 rides which was hugely instrumental in the destination of the points. Good to see young Kyle get a point in what is a very tough league.
  3. No additional temporary standing is a big disappointment. Could be compromised viewing if a lot of additional fans turn up.
  4. Very entertaining meeting against the Tigers with all the ingredients that can make speedway such a great sport worthy of a much bigger audience. No lack of effort by any rider from either team . Harris tried his nuts off but just couldn't find a win against a very resolute home side . Richie Worrall had a couple of great scraps with Rene Bach with honours even. Claus was solid again, nearly had Ty Proctor tasting the paint on the fence in heat 15 in a very hard move which resulted in handbags after the race. Starky kept plugging away, was also on the end of a hard racing move by Nicolai in heat 7 and expressed his displeasure after the race.. Was also involved in the first half point score i've ever entered on a speedway programme in heat 11 after hunting down Mason over the four laps, we actually thought he nicked it on the line. James Sarjeant again won the reserves race after Mason was just spinning up off the line and unable to reel him in. For the Comets the boys were solid throughout but it was the performance of Rene on a reportedly new engine that gave most satisfaction, he will be much happier with that i'm sure. It was good to see Ty return with no obvious ill effects and 3 good wins to boot. He wasn't happy with the referee in heat 5 when it looked as though the Tigers pair got a flier and he ended up biting the dust on turns 3 & 4 playing catch up. The home 5-1 and two 4-2's in heats 8 through 10 turned a 2 point deficit into a 6 point lead which the Comets never relinquished. It will be great to see the full seven back in action and disappointing Nicolai and Rene won't be available for the Fours. Thanks to all the Tigers fans who made the journey, must have been very disappointing to not get something from the meeting.
  5. Would never describe the Tigers performances at Derwent Park as half arsed Gazc. Usually close and entertaining, always feel you guys are gonna get something. One of the most attractive fixtures on the calendar for me !
  6. Either your post's re payment of riders are mischief or there is some truth in what you post. Either way what are you gaining by broadcasting such unsubstantiated hearsay on here ?. If you analyse the logic , riders protesting by deliberately not scoring points will not increase any potential monies they may or may not be owed so is therefore not in the interest of rider, club or crowd levels. Either substantiate what you are circulating or leave it alone. The paucity of home fixtures has been been detrimental to the Comets and further evidence of how speedway repeatedly shoots itself and member clubs in the foot.
