  1. It was suggested his father was with him and could well have been the overwhelming influence in what occurred. Apparently car parks cannot be used as pits for health and safety reasons, this didn't suit and resulted in them leaving. If this is the case it is diabolical, there were a good few Leicester fans who gratefully made the journey and this action may well have cost them a victory bearing in mind the dominance Ashton demonstrated on track the last couple of weekends. It is these Leicester fans I feel a lot of sympathy for, quite disgraceful actually.
  2. Harry has been sorely lacking in all departments so far not least confidence and looking like he his actually enjoying it. I hope he can rediscover some passion, speed and confidence otherwise i can't see him having a future in speedway. Callum Foy isn't ready for this level from what i have seen to date and i doubt very much he will get a ride from choice.
  3. Haven't seen much of Dan Thomoson to be honest so maybe that comment is reminiscing back to the Roynon who was a Comets heat leader and former track record holder.
  4. Yeah Harry needs to step up and help take a bit of pressure off Luke who is just returning from injury. Thinks this also applies to the skipper geoff. Need all the lads chipping in for sure.
  5. Looks like Harry drops to reserve on Saturday and Elliot moves into the main body. No news on whether we will be using a guest or rider replacement for Elliot. Always a bit of gamble using rider replacement in case you lose another rider early in the meeting which may result in only having one rider in a heat in the worst case scenario. Conversely it's also a gamble bringing in an effective guest at Elliot's average. Ace will be the only higher average rider able to take one of his rides . Looking forward to this fixture and suspect we will need better luck and all round team performance than last week if we are to secure the points. UTC !
  6. Saturday's meeting against Mildenhall was a bit unusual re wind direction. The meeting started with a fairly stiff north westerly wind with any dust blowing from that direction then partbway through the meeting it switched round to a south westerly and blew any dust the other way . By the time the British Junior Championship got underway on Sunday the wind direction was back to north westerly. To be fair dust levels were fairly minimal on Sunday. Looking forward to another close meeting especially after watching Ashton Boughen tear round the track in the British U21's and Junior 500 class recently. Sure Steve Lawson will try everything that is within his control to minimise dust levels . It hasn't rained in Worky since i came back from holiday on 29th April which is unusual in itself.
  7. Some good speedway today, beaten by the better team who had 3 solid heat leaders. Mechanicals and falls cost the Comets valuable points. Harry continues to struggle with only 6 points from 15 rides to date a bit of a concern. Connor was good value today and rode a brilliant heat 15 before what looked like a mechanical cost him a much deserved win. Elliot was in the wars again and may also have suffered a mechanical for his second big of,f hope he isn't too bad. Great comeback for young Luke Harrison who also had a mechanical when in a scoring position. The skipper won't have been happy, he also had a mechanical in his his first ride when in a scoring position. More seating had been installed on the first bend since last week and it looked great so well done to all concerned. Unfortunate delay when someone took ill in the crowd with 2 races to go and once again on a breezy warm day it was hard work to keep the dust down. Missed Ranting Roy today, never thought I would say that. Well done to the Fen tigers.
  8. After watching Glasgow against Scunthorpe recently I'm surprised at how easy the Tigers appear to have succumbed. Great result for the Bears.
  9. Yeah it's slightly unfortunate but live Speedway wins out every time for me personally. Hopefully too nice a day to sit in watching footy anyho.
  10. Yeah it's fair to say that tougher challenges lie ahead for the Comets and they will need everyone firing.
  11. Yeah there was movement at the starts which went unpunished and Sam was definitely rolling on more than one occasion. Agree about the ref, heat 9 where the result was given then changed, then changed again to what was given originally made a right mess of my programme.
  12. Good guest in Lee Complin who rode his socks off and was entertaining. Ace once again showed his great potential. Both Sam and Harry McGurk improved as the meeting progressed, Harry would have had another 2 points when his engine failed with the Comets on a 5-0. Elliot Kelly never lost his confidence even though be was involved in a couple of potentially scary incidents. Hope Crangy is okay he never took his last ride after coming down following taking evasive action to miss Elliot. Hope Josh Embelton is okay, he walked back to the pits but it was a nasty crash into the polyfoam fence. Greg Blair was great for the Bullits and had good support from Danny Philips. Good win for the Comets, historically it's never been easy to win at Shielfield.
  13. First time i've visited Glasgow this season and i left thinking this could be the year barring injuries that the Tigers lift some silverware. Bomber for me has always been box office regardless of where he rides, he's just a class act and worth the admission money on his own. Along with the in form duo of Basso and Brennan they form a strong heat leader trio. Glasgow seems to bring out the best in big Claus Vissing who along with Marcin Nowak form strong second strings. Ace Pjiper was very impressive tonight for someone 16 years old and as a Worky fan i'm gonna enjoy watching his progress for the Comets NDL team while the reborn Lee Complin is not far away from scoring bigger points. Bearing in mind it was cloudy most of the afternoon i was disappointed that there was dust from heat 1. Some of the racing was top drawer especially from Bomber and Tom Brennan. Scunny with the exception of flying Ryan Douglas and the early races of MPT were generally disappointing. The previous comments regarding their recent team changes are well justified in my opinion. At £20 pound admission and £3-50 for a programme its just as well the racing was generally entertaining.
  14. Thanks crescent girl, looking forward to the two meetings over the weekend .
  15. thank you kindly for making such a long round trip and the kind words
  16. Fantastic to have competitive Speedway back at Worky. The delight delight on the faces of the long term fans was plain to see. Thank you to all members of the wider Speedway family who made the journey, I'm sure every one of you help make it an even more special day for Andrew, Steve and the rest of the team who have worked tirelessly to make it happen. The weather was the icing on the cake. Nice to get the new era off to a winning start. Some fans not used to this level of speedway may well have been surprised with the general high quality of racing but these young men are obviously very comfortable and accomplished on the bike. All square after 7 heats at 21 all Comets took control of the second half of the meeting with 4 5-1's not conceding another heat advantage and the like of Sam McGurk, Connor Bailey, Ace Pjiper and Elliot Kelly gave the fans a glimpse of the competitive racers they are. Can't wait for next week. UTC !!!
  17. Like you say John season ticket great value and rest of admission prices very well pitched, spot on me thinks.
  18. this would be great. I believe that that the BSPA apparently own the name so there will be money involved.
  19. Hi THJ I've been away for a couple of weeks and was dismayed and angered to read about the vandalism and burglary that has gone on in that time. Your above post though has helped lift the gloom a bit. Andrew and the team must have been demoralised yet again by the low lives who carry out these actions. It's fair to say that the travellers see this area as a soft touch, this is in no small part nurtured by the Police not making use of the powers they have under Section 61 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994. The Police do have powers to move a site immediately without recourse to the courts while Allerdale Council does not. Cumbria Constabulary is able to move more quickly and take far more robust action. The claim that Police have no authority to move travellers due to the absence of a dedicated place for them to go in Allerdale is also false. Apparently the fact remains there is no requirement to find the travellers somewhere to go before moving them on. If the Police made use of the powers available to them immediately in response to criminal damage and antisocial behaviour then this would surely act as a powerful deterrent and they would soon get the message. They have been allowed to get away with behaviour that other members of the local community wouldn't get away with for far to long. With the number of Police Officers in Cumbria reported to be at a record high it is good to here about them taking the above action. I hope it's the start of things to come going forward. I did think the travellers would find there way back onto Northside sooner or later especially since the intended CCTV security cameras were not installed at the same time as the security gates. Hope your keeping alright fella.
  20. Commiserations to all at Glasgow Tigers on the sad news of the passing of Michael Facenna.
