  1. Didn't know you were a Poole fan Geoff Happy new year marra UTC
  2. Because last season had 2 more teams 1 home 1 away meeting, but still dispite what was one of the best summers ever. The season struggled to finish in 2st week of November.. Also IMO in these financial hard times , less is more, maybe have regular meetings every 2 weeks at home, through May to mid August then run play offs August bank holiday weekend .
  3. Agree it must be hard work to keep the speedway star in print, but several people I know still buy the speedway star and have not been to a meeting in the UK for many years since their team folded
  4. No problems marra, just Jenga has form of winding up people the wrong way, no offence to you Jenga either
  5. Jenga. Be careful you don't upset this person, as I think he could be a parent of one of the young comets
  6. I hope the supporters return and back the rebirth of the comets, but IMO some of the newer supporters of speedway in the modern times were attracted by big names, whether riding for or against the comets, and this is a reason why I say, I hope they get speedway at this level, in the past when some of these kids were riding development/northern junior league at Derwent park the majority of the crowd had gone home, now some of those kids are riding for the comets hope this does not sound doom and gloom, but just saying as I see it, after following speedway every year since 1970 in the UK and Europe, more so in the 80's and 90's after the comets died in 1981
  7. Why is Poole on premiership page, you've got enough space on championship page for all your comments
  8. Seems we have a good team for the rebirth of the comets, just hope the local speedway fans back the promotion, as some fans may not get the level the comets are in next season .but this level was always supposed to be about bring the kids through while providing close and exciting racing, can't wait to see how the track holds up once racing starts,
  9. Minimum 2 : 5 hour journey, either way not the best of roads,as the A1 can be scary at times !!
  10. Hopefully Mr Cook can move on from the last season issues and ride a speedway bike the best he can https://www.newsandstar.co.uk/news/23205865.cleator-moor-man-accused-strangling-partner-case-dismissed/
  11. Not trying to run speedway on a Friday so Mr Godfrey maybe OK with the comets this time round
  12. At the moment the local rag has not made the connection, in the past the said person featured in the paper when he done well or moved teams in the top flight
  13. This may explain one or two things that went on in the past season with your No 1 https://www.newsandstar.co.uk/news/23205865.cleator-moor-man-accused-strangling-partner-case-dismissed/
  14. Surprisenly got this week's through the post on time
  15. Got paid by someone to keep it down
  16. Any clever people know how many points we have left for the last signing, ta very much
  17. What I'm getting at is when a circus comes to town you can't move for adverts or flyers. But speedway promotion imo is trying to keep the sport a secret yes Glasgow do promote but a lot of it is on social media, when my team was alive (comets) we live in an area that's full of tourists, but very very rarely do you see posters trying to attract the tourists or other people from the area . It is a minimal cost to print posters and get out up in shops ets
  18. As for promoters promoting the sport, Glasgow do a good job. But on my 1 visit and watching on BSN this year the crowd looked poor,. I've always said pick one meeting, do promotion like when a circus comes to town, can't move for advertising, discount tickets available the circuses seem to do well so speedway can maybe do the same.
  19. ££££ s loan fees now and a transfer fee when he improves from Glasgow or Poole
  20. As an avid local speedway fan I have not heard rumours of the cash being splashed. But have heard that there's hardly any riders who don't want to ride for the comets, the main reason I have heard is they want to ride what looks to be a great track. And most importantly have access to ride 7 days a week practicing to improve themselves, so far most are young and have the ambition to progress further through the speedway ranks, Looking forward to seeing these young kids progress and only 2 mile fra yam you never know one of these kids could turn out to be the next Dan Bewley UTC
  21. Snap but I bailed out and bought copies from local Morrisons, so helping out speedway star in a roundabout way, no fault of pinegen, lost in royal mail back log, probably still gonna get Xmas cards at Easter at this rate
  22. Looks like all behind the rebirth of the comets mean business 1st what looks to be a great track now looking like a great team to go with it UTC
  23. Don't want another job. As the yan I've got is enuf
  24. THJ think it's about time you got a hobby to keep ya busy, how about knitting you could knit some team pom poms
