Workington v Berwick Border Trophy 31/03/24 3pm
bloom89 replied to topaz325's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Wait until they come up against similar standard reserves? Hmm… one of Berwick’s reserves hasn’t ridden at this level before same as Sam and the other had a handful of meetings and comes in on the same average as your other reserve so don’t really understand that comment… although they need a few more meetings than two but if they carry on in that vein then it places a lot of pressure on the top 5 which is a risk as some of them are going to tracks for the first time. -

Just seen a post on Facebook from the Workington page and Cook is riding. -
A decent issue of the bumper edition my only personal gripe is that the National league didn’t have the same cover as the premiership and championship they usually do but maybe with less teams they didn’t bother.
-
But the NDL have slightly changed the rules to suit one team I totally get why they done that mind but it just opens a can of worms for other teams to try and do surely? You don’t want a young rider potentially missing out as was the case with Perry I think but rules should be equal for the three leagues surely? But at the same time the other promoters are partly to blame for not signing the young lad in the first place imo.
-
Hopefully nobody touches him if/when he’s available again… made himself look a right tool with his high and mighty innocent statement after he’d already failed a drugs test… more importantly though let his team down badly.
-
Not sure the Birmingham fans will agree with that.

New race suit design for Glasgow… https://glasgowtigers.co.uk/tigers-reveal-new-racesuit/

Me either but you only have to look at how workington are struggling to get the last rider and sometimes beggars can’t be choosers. Unless they could do a short term deal with someone like Ellis how Birmingham did I don’t really see many options imo.
-
He hasn’t but I don’t think anyone agrees he’s improved by 2 points? Choices look slim for Plymouth so unless Riss wants to do it then maybe BWD is the next best shot.
-
I’m not saying his average should be dropped by 2 points but he should be eligible to a discount if Janowski has had one and they’ve plucked a figure out the air for Milik as ever just a bit of consistency would be good.
-
Good memory! Just checked the updates site and he did indeed ride against Stoke 2 points from four rides.
-
Is that all he rode for us? Could’ve swore it was more! Either way signing a number 1 to score 1 point is shocking whatever way you look at it.
-
Janowski has been reassessed though hasn’t he? Not saying it’s right but one rule for one.
-
Take what riders say with a pinch of salt… apparently Richie Worrall didn’t take any drugs but failed a drugs test haha.
-
I thought he done an interview in the speedway star recently stating his average was still the one he had with Newcastle and he was stuck with that? He was awful for us mind. Haven’t got the figures at hand but I’d be surprised if he’s even averaged above 6.50 in all his time in the championship.
-
Can rule Hans Andersen out of the equation as he’s announced his retirement… not even sure if he was in the frame at all for a short term stint.
-
Playing devils advocate here but all Redcar need to do is find a rider with a higher average than the points they currently have left and ask the bspa to up the limit slightly… precedent has been set by Edinburgh so happy days haha.

In fairness Tolley may have pumped hundreds and thousands into Birmingham speedway but all he has achieved so far is putting two seasons of poor sides out in the championship while admitting crowds were poor during those two seasons. So yes applaud him by all means but to move up to a higher league higher rider wages and better riders with no guarantee of increased crowds is a major gamble. There is only so much money one person can continue to lose until they get sick and that’s a fact unless you’re a billionaire who has money to throw away which I don’t think Tolley is. You can understand fans being frustrated, Oxford have brought magic back, Sheffield have woffy and the holders, Ipswich have doyle and Emil but realistically who are brum going to get? I hope it works out but I’m fearful for them if I’m honest.

SGB Championship 2024 Confirmed Signings
bloom89 replied to bloom89's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Do you know this for definite though? Is it any different to say bringing an Aussie over giving them digs for the season, a van and whatever else though? Add in the cost of this and it could be what another rider is wanting. Not saying it’s right or wrong but it happens. -
If so then announce it surely? It’s not as if they are signing Zmarzlik which you’d want all the publicity possible. Supporters are your main source of income but as usual the promoters keep them in the dark but expect them to buy season tickets etc. Why?

SGB Championship 2024 Confirmed Signings
bloom89 replied to bloom89's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I know various people have said certain riders like Gilkes, Rowe and Jack Thomas have been offered deals and turned them down but it’s mightily disappointing when these riders don’t have spots in the league. -
Well I personally don’t see what they gain by withholding the last rider if they do indeed have all 7 signed up. Maybe someone unexpected has became available and there working on getting him or maybe like Birmingham they are struggling to get the last piece of the jigsaw.
-
If workington have got all 7 riders signed up what’s the delay in announcing the last rider then?

SGB Championship 2024 Confirmed Signings

Yes exactly this, the world we live in prices continue to rise and I’m sure most clubs will be hiking there prices up again this coming season. Lowering the product but increasing the price same old British speedway.
