Bonnie Tyler At Cardiff
shortoi replied to shortoi's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
You took the words right out of my mouth. Let's see, she could sing "Have you ever seen the rain?" For British speedway, of course. Or "Rebel without a Clue" for certain riders. -

Well I think she'll be simply Ravishing. -
Yayness!! Speedway and a Bonnie Tyler concert. A match made in heaven.

Good grief!!! And after you vowed never to post as well. Ooh... I've gone all light-headed with the shock.
-
All exactly as he told me... but he left out that little detail. Haha, you will have to see if you can find me a picture. It'll have excellent blackmail potential! Won't say too much more, because he reads this forum.
-
Sorry Iris, I wanted to warn you, but sworn to secrecy and all that. Do you know anyone who did take pictures?
-
Well I haven't passed my driving test yet, so if I want to go to Poole I guess I will be cycling.
-
And what have we learnt about rumours from this thread? Erm... I don't suppose you have stopped to consider that the reason for that is that you live closer to the Poole stadium than the Brandon stadium? I could just as easily turn around and say that Swindon is the easiest to get to because it only takes me 20 minutes whereas Poole would take in the region of 3-4 hours.

Didn't Henning Loof ride in this?
-
Well he has to have inches somewhere. (Only joking Matt - but it had to be said!!)
-
No, he really is such an idiot. Judging by most of his postings that I've read anyway.

God yes! Get those track staff down to Swindon, pronto! -
I do think some people on here are slightly over-sensitive. People who know Silver Cheetah will tell you that he's not a racist person in the slightest. Most of the posts that are taken to be offensive are not meant even remotely like that. And I know Alan would be / is horrified to think that people might perceive him that way. So chill and remember that things are not always what they seem! (Oo-ee-oo!)

Have to say I agree with this, riders seem to be getting away with it more and more, and therefore keep doing it! Not often applicable in league racing, mostly in international meetings. Still, was it Keith Huewen saying how bad refereeing is becoming of late? Perhaps someone will take notice as the problem has been brought into the global spotlight.

Fantastic race between Gollob and Crump there... probably some of the best racing I've seen all season in this meeting. -

Yeah, I'm amazed that the track is producing such excellent racing. It's a really good meeting, slightly marred by poor decisions from the referee. Good interview from Pedersen there, not often I'm on his side. Now let's see him knock Gollob out of the semis and go through to the final. My prediction for riders to be in the final: Adams, Rickardson, Pedersen, Crump. -

Totally agree with both of these. I seldom have sympathy with Nicki Pedersen, but that was totally unfair. Minimal contact (if any) and Gollob just got filled in and dropped it. I feel sorry for the bloke, his reputation has preceeded him once again, and although some would say what goes around comes around, I believe that ALL refereeing decisions should be made objectively. Regardless of nationality. -

And you think that means that she watches them herself? She doesn't come up with everything on the spot you know, most of it is pre-planned and influenced by what other people want her to say. Just like one of those barbie dolls - you pull the string and it talks. -

I think it would have done! Changing the vocab and slowing it down can work wonders. I'm sure he would have understood things like: "Do you feel good?" "Is the track ok?" or "Do you think you will win?" He obviously understood those words individually, but when they were thrown at him at speed with big words like "confidence", "exceptional" or slang terms like "on fire" it becomes much more difficult! -

It's a good technique. It's what I did in Germany. Had some interesting results though. For example: Laura: "When did you get your mobile phone?" Me: "I broke mine, so I gave birth to this one." Or, even better: Laura: "You look cold, would you like to borrow my coat?" Me: "Why? Are you frigid?" Or my friend: Romana (the German girl): "What would you like to do?" Anyetta (English): "I eat my own flesh." Oh dear! -

What bugged me about Sophie Blake is that she showed absolutely s0d all consideration for the riders whose English is not superb. Using vocab and sky slang that, if a German person was using to me, I would never have understood! She didn't even bother to slow down!! She said she would and then rattled off at the usual pace, leaving the poor rider bemused and feeling like a right prat. It's quite clear that she's never bothered her backside to try and learn a foreign language. -
Watch it Loz, she knows where you live.
