  1. Why wasn’t it popular? Oxford will end the season having run 30 plus meetings with good crowds, while others struggle to run less than half that. Is it because Oxford are showing up their own efforts? Lets take a very successful club and cut in half the number of fixtures they can run and income they can generate. unbelievable.
  2. At Oxford on Wednesday, for the first time in my life I decided to just accept the fact that I wasn’t watching a serious sporting contest where the result mattered. I just watched the racing for it’s own sake and actually quite enjoyed it.
  3. He has testers show up at the house at very short notice during the off-season. 1st offence is a 6 month ban. 2nd offence is a 12 months ban. 3rd offence is a lifetime ban. He has a waiver for Adderall, which has to be renewed every year.
  4. My son is a professional athlete. He is given a list of banned substances and common medications that contain them. If he needs to take something (even if prescribed) that contains a banned substance he has to request a waiver from the league. If he takes it without an approved waiver, he will get banned. Plymouth’s statement that it was prescribed would not be an acceptable defence in any sport with a serious drug policy.
  5. It is free, but you are supposed to select the parking option when you buy your ticket. I go every week and nobody has ever checked to see if I have a parking ticket or not. They just wave you in.
  6. I watched on the livestream and I don’t think there was anything wrong with the track. The problem is that financially, Poole, Glasgow and Leicester are literally in a different league to everybody else. Poole have three number 1’s. Outside of visits from Glasgow and Leicester, everybody else is going to get the same sort of thumping that Oxford got, and there probably won’t be much great racing. Not saying it is right or wrong, it is just reality.
  7. I lived in US for 22 years until last week, now back home in Oxford. I would have given my right arm for the BSPA to find a way of monetising my interest. Would happily have paid. I think there are a lot of interested expats like me who currently generate £0 revenue for speedway.
  8. Denzil Kent from South Africa rode for Oxford back in the day.
  9. Bob Coles, Michael Coles and Connor Coles al rode for Mildenhall.
  10. Soccer? I must have imagined standing in those 70,000 crowds in Atlanta for MLS games.
