A competitive meeting coming up at Workington with on paper, at the moment, a very strong field. 1. Jack Smith (BV). 2.Alfie Bowtell (ML) 3. Max Clegg (ED) 4. Connor Bailey (WC) 5. Nathan Ablitt (KR) 6. Henry Atkins (OC) 7. Dan Thompson (LLC) 8. Jamie Halder (BB) 9. Adam Roynon (EA) 10. James Pearson (BVC) 11. Danny Phillips (BB) 12. Ben Morley (KR) 13. Lee Complin (MFT) 14. Jordan Jenkins (OC) 15. Joe Thompson (LLC) 16. Sam McGurk (WC) Obviously there will be changes to the line up but this is it as it stands. Predictions? I’ll be backing Bailey being the home town favourite but there’s plenty of riders who will have something to say about that. The list to come in etc boasts some good talent too so fingers crossed for a dry day down at the Northside Arena come Sunday!

You’ve cursed it, it’s just started to rain hahah. -

I wouldn’t say it ruined it. If anything it’s made it better. Even though the track is a terrible as per usual. -

Think they’ve just been announced this week, seen something on twitter or whatever it goes by these days, through the week. Could be wrong though. -

But they’re not the main sponsors of the series? Yeah probably put more into speedway in Poland. -

Don’t understand the amount of people defending Zmarzlik. He knows the rules like every single rider in the field, even the reserves would know them! They’ve followed the rules and are being professional, and people still twine and complain! Sponsors will have it wrote in a contract agreement to display there logo in certain places etc. People seem to forget without these sponsors, we wouldn’t have the GP series or it wouldn’t have the field it has. Rules are rules, break them and pay the consequences no matter who you are. Would people be kicking off this much if it was Kim Nilsson or Patryk Dudek? I think not. -
Yeah I forgot he rode for Scunthorpe tbh haha. If they are he’s on a decent average so plenty of capable guests would be available I suppose, time will tell!
-
Looking at the calendar and rider availability etc, looks like next Saturday could be a date for the restaging a nice packed weekend of speedway to see the season out sounds good to me!
-
Is what it is I suppose. But looking at the forecast, and the amount of rain that’s come down, maybe seeing a postponement.

Can see Tai being back but I think Janowski is a bit of a stretch
-
Be racing on Saturday hopefully seeing as he looks to be using Tai’s equipment so would just have to get himself over there for Sunday. Won’t be in the riders championship which is a shame, but you can’t knock him. He’s contracted to Wrocław and has been all season, so for me, it shows how much he’s developed and how much we as the comets have contributed to that development. Nothing but support and thanks to Connor for what he’s done this season just a shame he won’t be wearing the big C next season unless we’re out of the NDL.
-
Connors been named to start at Number 2 for Wrocław this weekend. Hopefully hes racing Saturday but as for the NDLRC I can’t see it which would be a shame but you can’t knock the lad. It’s testament to show how much he’s developed this season.

Any updates on Ace & Sam?
-
Yeah I just think this is where it could be improved. Changes should be tabled until around august then an AGM held this month to get things sorted. it’s how Poland do things so why not take a leaf out of there book rather than leaving it so late

If there’s so little interest from certain teams and obviously with clubs closing it looks as though it’s probably going to be 2 leagues. The format for this is debatable, you’ve got the old north/south split then merge for a finals series at the end of the season, with the teams not qualifying for the title into another series so that they still have something to ride for? Then the opening meeting the following season could be a 2 leg match between the winners of both trophies? There’s a lot of big decisions to be made by the SCB/BSPA first before any sort of planning for next season. Instead of it being in November or whenever surely it makes sense to have it at the very latest now so it gives promoters time to prepare for next season and get plans/riders in place.

Couldn’t agree more. It makes it even worse when you’re captain is the one doing it! If he’s not 100% then he shouldn’t be riding. -

Not the first, and if we use R/R again certainly won’t be the last. All it comes down is inexperienced/poor team management. Anyone with a bit of speedway knowledge knows this. -

Disappointing result today but as I expected tbh. Harry just looks like he cannot be bothered and Crang, well deary me. You’re supposed to be the captain and inspire this young side giving up cause you’re last is just mind boggling. I get it’s the first season but surely we need to be setting up to compete at the sharp end of the league. Some serious thinking to take place over the winter and not just the team either. -

Be a lot tougher today Neila I think. Welcoming back hagon and Pearson strengthens them massively, we all know hagon can ride our place really well barring his off day in the Sue Roper -
Can’t see Connor still racing in the NDL next year but I’d agree with that start
-
Too early to start thinking about the 2024 team?

British Final 2023

Great meeting all things considered when it was chucking it down at 7.25. Thought the track came into its own and wasn’t the gate and go a lot of people expected. Congrats to Dan on another title and to Stevie for getting the wildcard. Might shut the other worrall up for a bit. Even on a different track like the moaners are wishing, I can only imagine Dan would clean up again. His ability to just turn it on when he needs to is ridiculous. The pass on Brennan and then his first 2 corners in the final were just exquisite. Had a few concerns about the line up throughout the day but thought it was a decent enough field. Although I do think that other than the defending champ, there should be a qualification process so we get the truly best 16 riders GB has to offer at the time.
