German Gp Confirmed
Rob B replied to German Speedway Fan's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Just booked our flights, £1 each way with Air Berlin to Dusseldorf, so with taxes and fuel surcharge it's £40 each, bargain! Question for maybe someone local, they are selling standing tickets for £20, where is the standing? Thought being a modern stadium it would be all seating. -
6 Riders In The Swc Teams
Rob B replied to treborbee's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Can't beleive it's took them so long to realise the need for a reserve, thankfully a rider has not been injured in the World Cup so far and had to pull out as it would of been diabolical that they couldn't bring anyone in before. -
New Points System For Gp 2007
Rob B replied to tomazpozrl's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
To be honest I never saw the problem with the first GP system where they had the 20 heats Then split into D, C, B and A finals. Or why not use the system they are using in the Australian Championship, 20 heats then B and A finals and then points get allocated down as per position, at least then the lowest a rider could come from to winning the GP would be 4th rather then 8th. -
Yep good racing, track shape looks similar to Peterborough.

Apparently it doesn't like the Mildura track, which is very strange as its the most similar track to most UK tracks. -

Sounds like another balls up by Ole Olsen to me. -
Quite a long time I'd guess, quite a lot further then Gdansk or Poznan.

There is so much choice, all depends how much you want to spend, if you don't want to spend much some of the pensions are ok, basic but they have a clean bed and bathrooms not much else. Last year we stayed in Hotel City Center, probably about 3* rating. Was ok, decent breakfast buffet, just off the old town square.

Didn't know he was having one. When is it, I take it its at Mildura? The weather can't be any worst then his one at Belle Vue, poured down all day, was a mud bath. Unfortunatly the weather really affected the crowd. Hope he gets plenty of people over there.

I'll put this in here, more people likely to see it here then the other thread. Pater Ballinger wrote this quite a vew years ago, we followed it then and found are way round no problem. We have been several times since and nothing has changed. Upon clearing passport control, you will pass through some automatic frosted glass doors, leading you into the Entrance to the Airport. To your left will be an automatic money exchange machine, to your right some stairs leading upwards. Infront, and to the right are car rental desks, public information desks, etc. It is from the public information desks that you can purchase 3 day (or even 5 day) public transport passes. These give you access to buses, trams, and underground. Exit the building via the front exit, and go straight ahead over 2 or 3 zebra crossings, following the signs for the 119 Bus. After 100 yards or so, the roads conclude with a standard road, from where you can pick up the 119 Bus. The 119 Bus runs from the airport to the underground stop at “Dejvicka”, and only to “Dejvicka”, i.e. it is the Airport Shuttle. Once aboard the bus, stamp your travel passes in the on board ticket machines. This validates your tickets, and the period starts from the moment you stamp your tickets. Dejvicka is where you can pick up the Underground (Green Line – Line A), and is about 3-4 miles journey on the bus from the airport. It takes about 15-20 minutes. Just get off when everyone gets off. The bus goes no further than Dejvicka, apart from back to the Airport. Being foreign, the bus will be on the correct side of the road for the Underground station. Go into Dejvicka Station, watch out for the fast escalators as they are easy to fall down after a tiring journey especially when you are loaded up with cases. (There speaks the voice of experience :!: ) Once in Dejvicka station, continue down to the platforms, the train will only be going in one direction from Dejvicka, and indeed arriving from one direction, as Dejvicka is the first stop on the line. You will not need to stamp your tickets again at any time whilst in Prague, just look after them, and if a ordinary looking bloke (ie. No uniform) approaches you and shows you a “Sherrifs” Badge, he will be a ticket inspector, just show him your ticket and you’ll be OK. Travel on the Underground from Dejvicka all the way through to the most appropriate station to your hotel / accomodation. Stops on Line A are as follows. Dejvicka Hradcanska Malostranska Staromestska Mustek Muzeum Hlavni Madazi Nam Miru Jiriho z Podebrad (the TV Tower stop) Flora Zelivskeho Strasnicka Stalka Undergound map http://www.czech-travel-guide.com/mapview.htm?act=metro Getting to Stadion Marketa Take the Underground to Malostranska station (Green line). Exit Malostranska station to street level, where you can pick up the No.22 tram which will take you up to the area of Prague called “Brevnov”. This is where the Speedway is. The tram lines run in the middle of the road, accordingly the tram stops are in the middle also. You will need the No.22 that is going uphill, rather than the one going downhill back into town. Once on the No.22, watch for the stops on the onboard displays, and the maps that are in the carriages. There are around 20 stops beofre you'll need to get off, but its a nice route up past the Castle. You need to get off at the stop "Vypich", rather than "Brevnov". You will see the stadium up on the hill from Brevnov, but Vypich is closer to the Stadion Marketa.

Depends if you only want to go from Manchester or are willing to travel a bit. From Manchester cheapest is BMI Baby but nothing from Manchester is particulary cheap. Also Czech Airlines but they have gone pretty expensive now. Others to look at are Jet2 from Leeds/Bradford. Thomson from Sheffield. BMI Baby and Easyjet from Nottingham East Midlands and I find the cheapest Easyjet from Stansted or Luton. You can buy tickets from the stadium but we just find it easiest to buy them online, you can print them yourselves on your printer then they just scan the barcode. -
It's the risk you take, if the flight is not full then, then the prices will drop nearer to departure, but prices will rise the more people book and will stay high if the flight is nearly full. Personally that sounds like a good price and I would book it now.

For someone going to their first GP abroad, Prague is definatly the easiest and cheapest. Lots of cheap airlines flying there, lots of hotels, very good public transport easy to get around. Very cheap food and drink. -
