Had to pass from the back just the once, his last ride against Byron Bekker. Dissappoiting crowd tonight, seemed to be less there then there has been for this meeting the last few years. Was some good racing but not quite as entertaining as the last couple of years. Interesting though that there wasn't a single rerun race. Just the one race being stopped and awarded. Jade Mudgway turned up late after getting stuck in traffic and missed his first two rides.

Race Off Leszno Poland Thursday 19 Juli
Rob B replied to tarabanko's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Think it will be Poland and Australia. But part of me thinks don't rule the Swedes out. Remember in 2003 I think when Rickardsson got injured and they replaced him with Ljung and they still got through and won the final. But don't think it will happen again. Think the Russians will do better then Monday on a big track but not good enough to qualify. Should be good meeting, normally one of the best of the year. -
Yes they did, Sky announced twice that the start had been delayed due to crowd trying to get in and they showed the queues outside, racing didn't start until just before 8pm.

Speedway Betting For Tonight...
Rob B replied to deanozoff's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
No you can't, best alternative was on Skybet, hosts to win event 1, 2 & raceoff at 5/2. The first two have happened, just need Poland to win on Thursday now. -
Speedway Betting For Tonight...

Won quite a lot of Russia to beat USA at 23/20. Did a lot of heat betting, won quite a few but two riders cost me quite a bit of money, Jonas Davidsson and Peter Karlsson! Davidsson was unbelieveable and Karlsson was very inconsistent. -
Whats the delay? Now 19.35 and only just started doing the parade. Suppose to be finished at 22:00 on Sky, definatly going to run over.

Good grief don't you read? Been answered several times on several topics. Max for AJ. Hamill has never been in the USA squad this year.

From Belle Vue website : Along with the other 17 riders Adam Roynon was booked to ride at Belle Vue through the proper channels (i.e. by contacting his promoter at Rye House to seek permission to talk to Adam, and then agreeing the booking with Adam). This was a fortnight ago. On Friday just gone, Poole were booking riders for their equivalent Junior Meeting on the same date which they are running as a junior GB select v a junior Australian select. Poole contacted Peter Oakes about riders and Peter Oakes asked Adam Roynon to ride. Although no one from Poole contacted Belle Vue to ask if we would release Adam from his obligation, Adam himself rang to ask to be released. We were reluctant to release Adam from an agreed booking at such a late stage (after the programme had gone to print) but recognised that with Peter Oakes being the promoter at Adam's ultimate parent club, and manager of the British Youth Academy, it would be placing Adam in an awkward position if we forced him to go though with the agreed booking. We agreed with Adam that we would agree to release him if a replacement of equal standard could be found. A 60 second phone call to Neil Machin and James Cockle confirmed that James Cockle would be happy to ride, and he will take Roynon's place. To date we have had no contact from Poole asking for Roynon to be released to ride there. However we believe James Cockle will be an adequate and enthusiastic replacement, and we have a good line up of riders who want to ride. We hope everyone will still support the meeting, recognising the the field remains strong and competitive, and that the Roynon/Poole meeting hiccup was in no way our fault as all our riders were booked via the proper channels.

World Cup - Vojens Sat 14 July
Rob B replied to Mad Mitch's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I know Jan comes on here occasionally, but he has posted this on the speedway list : Hi everyone, I may be biased, but I’m also honest: We had no say in how the track was prepared. Actually all the guys in the team prefer some dirt. The difference is that we seem to be able to do well on the slick also. What you probably don’t know is that practice was cancelled due to the immense amount of rain we have had in southern Denmark in the last few days, and the forecast for race day was thunder storms late afternoon/early evening. There was a decent wind all day, but the threat of rain never materialized – thankfully – and the only bit we got was a light drizzle around 6pm. That is why the track was as slick as it was. It was even watered every 5 races, and at least it wasn’t as bad as Reading at the race off last year… Great to see well over 10.500 spectators again in Vojens. Best wishes Jan -
World Cup - Vojens Sat 14 July
Rob B replied to Mad Mitch's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
No they are not, I've been to Vojens lots of times and seen some cracking meetings. I think tonight was a mixture of due to the heavy rain yesterday and the danes liking it a bit slick but they went well over the top. -
World Cup - Vojens Sat 14 July
Rob B replied to Mad Mitch's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
The first two meetings are always crap in the world cup because there is always a team who never scores any points and all there is to race for for the other three teams is the chance not to go to the race off even though the race off seems to be an advantage! It only heats up when we get to the race off. Few months ago I suggested maybe it should just be 6 teams in the world cup, top 2 from previous year seeded to the final and the other 4 then battle it out in the race off. -
For those questioning why Simon Stead had been picked, tonight at Coventry guesting for Peterborough he has won his first three rides beating Nicholls once and Harris twice!

Will The Yanks Survive Round 1
Rob B replied to speedibee's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
USA won't qualify, I think the russians will be a lot stronger then some people think. -
Also why no Ryan Fisher for USA, has he fallen out with AMA too?
-
Well it's obvious which two teams won't be making the race off, Finland and USA. It's just about who goes straight through to the final now, I think it will be Denmark and Sweden. Poland will then win the race off and probably the final too. Will be interesting to see Charlie 'The Edge' Venegas riding over here again but wouldn't expect him to do much.

Gp Qualification Semifinals Draw

This weekend? Riders haven't got long to sort out flights and getting bikes out there etc! -
Stead rides well round Coventry. Has beat Nicholls last couple of times there.

Cardiff Attendance
Rob B replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I'd say crowd was similar size to last couple of years, it's hard to guage depending on where you are sitting because from where we were sat lower tier back straight looking up, the top tier on home straight and third/fourth bend were a lot more empty than last two years but seeing it on sky the back straight upper tier looked nearly full. -
Gate Positions For The Final
Rob B replied to TonyE's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Because gate 4 was one of the best gates on the night, but I don't think he looked to see what riders he would have on the inside of him and think about it, -
Cardiff Practice
Rob B replied to Squirelnutkins's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Track is always worst for practise because firstly if you count the number of riders and the amount of times they go out and time it is the equivant of about 40-50 heats. Secondly they don't race on different lines trying to pass each other, the majority of the time they are all riding round the inside trying to get their bikes setup on the fastest line. Thats why more ruts appear etc.
