  1. No the track didn't cause Jonsson to break his shoulder. It had a small part in it but did you see any other riders crash last night? The reason Josson crashed was partly because of the track but mainly due to his bike setup and his shoulder not being strong enough to control the bike. Thats 3 big crashes he's had similar to that this year.
  2. Poor GP, track looked to have plenty of dirt on it so thought the racing would get better once the dirt moved out but unfortunatly it didn't. Pedersen in a class of his own, championship is his now unless he gets a serious injury. Did any one notice Crump lent Nicholls a new back wheel for this final?
  3. I've been to Prague 4 times for the GP and twice it has rained, including the infamous GP about 3 years ago when the start was delayed for an hour and a half, was stood in the rain for about 5 hours, was soaked to the skin, hotel receptionist gave us a strange look when we walked in afterwards.
  4. This was written by Peter Ballinger a few years ago, follow this and you won't go wrong. Arrival in Prague Airport Upon clearing passport control, you will pass through some automatic frosted glass doors, leading you into the Entrance to the Airport. To your left will be an automatic money exchange machine, to your right some stairs leading upwards. Infront, and to the right are car rental desks, public information desks, etc. It is from the public information desks that you can purchase 3 day (or even 5 day) public transport passes. These give you access to buses, trams, and underground, and in 2002 they cost about 200 Kc for 3 days. Exit the building via the front exit, and go straight ahead over 2 or 3 zebra crossings, following the signs for the 119 Bus. After 100 yards or so, the roads conclude with a standard road, from where you can pick up the 119 Bus. The 119 Bus runs from the airport to the underground stop at “Dejvicka”, and only to “Dejvicka”, i.e. it is the Airport Shuttle. Once aboard the bus, stamp your 3 day passes in the on board ticket machines. This validates your tickets, and the 3 day period starts from the moment you stamp your tickets. Dejvicka is where you can pick up the Underground (Green Line – Line A), and is about 3-4 miles journey on the bus from the airport. It takes about 15-20 minutes. Just get off when everyone gets off. The bus goes no further than Dejvicka, apart from back to the Airport. Being foreign, the bus will be on the correct side of the road for the Underground station. Go into Dejvicka Station, watch out for the fast escalators as they are easy to fall down after a tiring journey especially when you are loaded up with cases. (There speaks the voice of experience ) Once in Dejvicka station, continue down to the platforms, the train will only be going in one direction from Dejvicka, and indeed arriving from one direction, as Dejvicka is the first stop on the line. You will not need to stamp your tickets again at any time whilst in Prague, just look after them, and if a ordinary looking bloke (ie. No uniform) approaches you and shows you a “Sherrifs” Badge, he will be a ticket inspector, just show him your ticket and you’ll be OK. Travel on the Underground from Dejvicka all the way through to the most appropriate station to your hotel / accomodation. NB : I’d suggest either Mustek or Muzuem as both are reasonably close to Wencelas Square. Getting to Stadion Marketa My suggestion is that you take the Underground to Malostranska station (Green line). Exit Malostranska station to street level, where you can pick up the No.22 tram towards Bila Hora which will take you up to the area of Prague called “Brevnov”. This is where the Speedway is. The tram lines run in the middle of the road, accordingly the tram stops are in the middle also You will need the No.22 that is going uphill, rather than the one going downhill back into town. Once on the No.22, watch for the stops on the onboard displays, and the maps that are in the carriages. There are around 20 stops beofre you'll need to get off, but its a nice route up past the Castle. You need to get off at the stop "Vypich", rather than "Brevnov". You will see the stadium up on the hill from Brevnov, but Vypich is closer to the Stadion Marketa.
  5. People raved about the racing at Cardiff, the racing was a lot better tonight but people not going on about it so much because GB were so rubbish and not in contention There was some really hard racing, riders passing each other and taking each other out all the time, surprised there was only one crash.
  6. Yep think Crump was just trying to cover up his embarrasment of touching the tapes whilst on a joker. Shame because the Aussies were still in contention until that point.
  7. Use you head and think, how many people are going to turn up when the home nation is not even riding in the World Cup because they haven't qualified! Yes I agree it would be good to have it on a neutral track like in Czech Rep but its never going to happen because there would be no one there with no home team to support.
  8. I think you must of been watching a different meeting to the rest of us then! Are you sure you weren't watching a video of the meeting from Vojens last week?
  9. Nothing to do with SKY, its the producers, Sky only get the feed.
  10. And then there will only be about 1000 people there watching it! You can see with that crowd tonight and atmosphere why they have it in Poland every few years. Got a feeling though it could be back in Vojens next year.
  11. I won tonight on some matchups on Skybet and also GB to get less then 3 heats wins and to score less then 26 points on Stan James.
  12. With a massive crowd like that great atmosphere and a great racetrack, just showed how crap the World Cup was at Reading last year!!
  13. I can't understand all the fuss about Walasek. They said the guy was ill, he could of been throwing his guts up in the corner of the pits but just because the cameras didn't show it everyone presumes it is made up. What about Kennett suddenly having an shoulder injury, when did that happen. Same for Holder.
  14. On a side note, I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure Crump didn't break a conrod when he went through the tapes on the joker. If you watch the replay closely you could see his hand let the clutch out. Also if a conrod goes it doesn't throw you forward into the tapes, the engine just goes bang.
  15. Harris and Nicholls are GP riders and should have top equipment but were not on the pace till near the end. The British team is just no where near good enough.
  16. Great Britain were terrible. Couldn't understand all the fuss about Mondays win and not wanting to go to the race off. Thats 5 years on a trot now the winner has come from the race off. I think they need to look at changing the format as going to the race off is such a big advantage. The only team not to win from the race were the very strong Australian teams.
  17. Poland are so annoying, knew they would win tonight but they should of won easily on Thursday too, cost me a lot of money with their messing about in the first 5 heats on Thursday and then not using the joker.
  18. Wonder if Nicholls had Poole 2004 in his mind in heat 25 tonight when he passed Andersen to stop Denmark getting at least a raceoff.
  19. Maybe I was wrong but seemed to remember Frank guesting at Belle Vue few times long time ago and standing up going into the bends.
  20. Can't understand why Poland have replaced Balinski with Holta, Balinsky did quite well on Thursday.
  21. He looked very tall and had a strange style, virtually stood up going into the bends, must of been about a foot between his backside and the seat. Thinking now reminds me a bit of Frank Smart.
  22. Think the bookies won quite a lot tonight. Poland were terrible over the 5 heats or so, if they had ridden like they did at the end of the meeting they would have won easily.
  23. Half an hour to go and with the lack of lineups none of the bookies are doing any rider matchups, heat betting etc.
  24. Greggs North West Belle Vue Junior Championship 1. Joe Haines 3, 3, 3, 3, 3 = 15 2. Andrew Tully 3, 3, 1, 3, 3 = 13+3 3. Greg Blair 2, 3, 3, 2, 3 = 13+2 4. Simon Lambert 3, 1, 3, 2, 2 = 11 5. Ben Taylor 2, 2, 2, 3, 1 = 10 6. Byron Bekker 2, 2, 2, 1, 2 = 9 7. Lewis Dalloway 1, 2, 1, 1, 3 = 8 8. Sam Martin 1, 1, 3, 1, 2 = 8 9. Ben Hopwood 2, 2, 0, 2, 2 = 8 10. Scott Richardson 0, 3, 0, 3, 1 = 7 11. Aaron Summers 3, E, 2, 0, 1 = 6 12. Kieran Morris 1, 1, 1, 0, X = 3 13. Kye Norton 0, 0, 2, F, 0 = 2 14. Rusty Hodgson F, 0, F, 2, F = 2 15. Jade Mudgway -, -, 1, 1, 0 = 2 16. Martin Emerson F, -, -, -, - = 0 R Phil Naylor 1, 0, 0, 1 = 2 Joe Haines was in a class of his own tonight a won quite easily wih a maximum. Had to pass from the back just the once, his last ride against Byron Bekker. Dissappoiting crowd tonight, seemed to be less there then there has been for this meeting the last few years. Was some good racing but not quite as entertaining as the last couple of years. Interesting though that there wasn't a single rerun race. Just the one race being stopped and awarded. Jade Mudgway turned up late after getting stuck in traffic and missed his first two rides.
