  1. Sorry if this was mentioned in one of the other threads but not had the time to go through them all. At the end of last nights broadcast (just watched the end when I got back as the rest was crap) several riders refer to $200,000 next year, what is this for and has it been announced?
  2. Ouch, sounds like you didn't have a good time, for us was one of the cheapest, flights £42 each, hotel £30 each (including free cocktail), Hire car £10 each, tickets £30 each. Agree the racing was rubbish but would go again next year, just hope the track is better.
  3. Thats kind of strange, I always presumed the interviews were live, can't understand why they wouldn't show them. Jonathan Green was going up and down the pits all night interviewing riders, wonder how many they actually showed then.
  4. Got back about 8:00, overall had a good weekend, great flights with Air Berlin will definatly use them again. Stayed in a great hotel on the outskirts of Essen which was full of speedway people (mainly German and Poles) and had loads of bars and food places nearby. Drove to the stadium, dead easy to park, free too then just a 5 minute walk to the stadium. Thats where the fun started, we got there at 5.30 and was a huge queue to get in, mainly as there were only 4 gates open and they were hand searching every single person, but I still sneaked a bottle of drink in! Great stadium, we had great view, front row back straight right on top of the pits, I could of lent over and tapped Gollob on the head if I wanted to. Right Said Fred were rubbish, music was so loud too, a lot louder then Cardiff. Decent size crowd, atmosphere was kind of strange though as air horns were banned. Virtually all the Poles were on the first & second bends, mainly German on the home straight and the back straight was mainly English with some others like Swedes and Danes. The track was terrible, so hard and the racing was rubbish, people complained about the track cutting up at Cardiff but at least it provided entertainment. Best race of the night was the race off, with the final being a massive anti-climax. Jonsson was the rider who needed the money least, he can put that towards a second Ferrari now.
  5. Not without being told to. We were on back straight front row right above pits, Harris came back to pits first and want to his bay, Nicholls then walked past and got a lot of abuse from the mainly English at the front of our block, he just looked up and grinned and then went into his pit bay and sat down. Then Middleditch went and had a word with Nicholls and Nicholls got up and walked towards Harris pit bay, when he got there Harris told him to f*** off so Nicholls turned straight back around and went back into his pit bay. Question - I recorded the repeat that was on at 1am, on the live broadcast did they show interviews then with Harris and Nicholls because Jonathan Green interviewed them seperatly but they weren't shown on the 1am programme?
  6. Pits are along back straight! As we are on front row back straight will be able to look right into pits from above.
  7. Yep there has been loads of big one off tracks, Stockholm, Gothenburg, Norway were all over 350m.
  8. Started putting the fake centre green in and air fence up today.
  9. I bet there are more English and Poles there then Germans though.
  10. So it should be Peter Karlsson and Kaj Laukkanen in.
  11. They first ran out of the cheaper tickets quite a while ago but put more of the cheaper seats on weeks ago, still have £30 tickets now. Beginning of October was only 9 days ago.
  12. Bends 3 & 4 are at the top of the picture, you can tell because the grandstand is pushed back not being used. Also stand on right hand side is back straight as bottom tier doesn't go up quite so high.
  13. They sent tickets out a few weeks ago, why have you left it this late?
  14. Hard to tell could be the strange angle of the pictures but the straights look too long and the bends too narrow. Going to be a great view though from our seats front row back straight looking right down on the back straight.
  15. Lorry trailers with the fence and air fence parked in the middle, amazing how the pitch rolls under one of the grandstands.
  16. That link doesn't work try : http://www.veltins-arena.de/foto_webcam.htm
  17. No I agree but we are talking about the BSPA here, putting money in and doing things properly doesn't go with them.
  18. No offence but hasn't this been tried years ago, we had centres of excellence at Sheffield and two other tracks which all had 125cc bikes provided for them, Louis Carr was in charge of it but it didn't last long.
  19. Can't really see the numbers, what colour kevlars/bike?
  20. They have upgraded a lot of the road from Ljubljana to Krsko from single carriage way to motorway now, took us from centre of Ljubljana one hour 15 mins doing a steady 110kmpr on Saturday, could probably do it in just over a hour doing the 130kmpr speed limit.
  21. Slovenian GP was first last year too, around same weekend, was quite warm I seem to remember. Have been 5 times now and it's never rained once. Best to be around that time of the year or September as it's far too hot in the summer. Definatly recommend Slovenia, beautiful scenery, good weather and fairly cheap. Only downside is really you need to hire a car to get to the track but I do know of people who have got the train. This year we flew into Trieste in Italy as the flight was a lot cheaper and just drove over the border, hour and 20 mins to Ljubljana.
  22. BSI Speedway, right holders of the FIM Speedway Grand Prix Series (SGP), and GotEvent, operators of Ullevi Stadium, Gothenburg, have confirmed World Championship speedway will return to Sweden's national stadium in 2008, with a new semi-permanent speedway track being built as part of the deal. A three year contract has been signed by both parties and the 2008 FIM Swedish Speedway Grand Prix will take place at Ullevi on 24 May. Paul Bellamy, Managing Director, BSI Speedway commented: "The Series currently visits internationally renowned stadiums in Britain (Millennium Stadium), Denmark (PARKEN) and Germany (VELTINS-Arena) and we are delighted Ullevi stadium joins this growing list. "By installing a semi-permanent track, Ullevi stadium have shown how committed they are to the SGP Series. We have been working very closely not only with the stadium, but also FIM Race Director Ole Olsen and his track building team to ensure the surface prepared at the arena will be first class and we are looking forward to a great night of racing on 24 May 2008." Construction of the new track will start in November 2007, as Ullevi's Stadium Manager, Anders Albertsson, explained: "Plans are in place to start construction of the semi-permanent track in November this year. It will be ready and tested in Spring 2008 and will be used to stage speedway meetings leading up to the Grand Prix on 24 May. During the concert and athletic season (June - August) the shale will be temporarily stored and brought back to the stadium in early September each year when the track building will commence again. "Speedway has a long heritage at Ullevi and we hope this will continue for many years to come."
  23. Not Denmark but yes if we didn't have Cardiff think there would be a good chance of us having two.
