Ooops Post edited. Can't comment on past events, but got what I expected out of the speedway. Actually more passing than I thought, so I have no complaints. Can anybody tell me why I put up with abuse? -

If you want conventional speedway at it's best then this is not for you. If you want a chance to catch up with some mates, have a day out, a great laugh, and get to see some powerful bikes slide sideways, ridden by some very talented people, then this is a great day out on an otherwise misserable November *edit* December day. I hadn't been to Brighton, but I enjoyed myself. Okay, so most of the speedway is either tapes to flag or first bend crashes but who cares? (No need to answer I've read your comments) It's supposed to be a fun day out, not a deadly serious speedway meeting/s. And to continue the positive theme. Great to meet a few new people. Rabbit, Jemma (No you're not ), Bob C, Rob P, Jim B, and of course great to see everyone I already knew. I do have one apology to make because I didn't engage my brain until after we left. It didn't strike me until then that that bloke I didn't know must have been Shale Eater. Sorry mate I should have realised sooner, and said hi. The best race of the night in good ol' fashioned speedway terms involved the best pairing in the afternoon (Despite what the result says). Ed and Lewis early on in the afternoon meeting (Don't have a programme so not sure the heat number). Ed cocked up the start with Lewis leading. Ed has got this style of racing absolutely nailed down, and forced his way past the opposition pair. He was dropping his front wheel over the inside curb to stay even tighter than the track looks. Going into the 3rd lap he passed Lewis on the inside, and then slowed down the two following riders tried to follow through on the inside. Lewis was a little too wide but was still there, and wasn't making any mistakes. Ed was looking back as much as forward, and by creeping round in the curb he was team riding Lewis for the 5-1. Sadly on the last bend Ed was just a tad too far ahead of Lewis to continue covering him, and Lewis was nudged to the back coming off the last turn. Cracking ride by Ed, and a fantastic attempt to team ride his partner home. The problem for Lewis was that he was riding a tad too wide, and also seemed to be giving it too much 'wellie'. His bike sounded to be revving higher as he opened up the throttle, and he seemed to be spinning. The better riders such as Ed, Martin, and Olly (Who was as good as his scores suggest) were able to ride the track as though it were a normal speedway track. They rode perfect broadside bends, and where smooth on the 'straights'. There were those that adaped, such as Darkin (Who got better and better with every ride) and a few others that seemed to be on/off the throttle to maintain the balance between getting the bike to move forward and spinning. On the subject of Lewis I want to reply to a couple of comments having a pop at him. This young man is a fantastic rider (Just ask PK and Billy after he was a right handful at Monmore back in the early part of last season), and the most promising English talent for a hell of a long time. He got a stroppy after his exclussion ofr two reasons, as far as I could see. Firstly, it was a harsh exclusion (Particularly given some of the races that rides got back into). I expected that we'd get a genuine race for the final. Because of the points scoring system his ex. was certain to cost Ed and he the win. Ed cruised to the win, and all that was needed to win the pairs championship was to simply finish the race. It's understanable that Lewis was peed off, and it's a shame it ended like that. And to continue the slight downward turn in the tone of my post it was a real shame to see a couple of the lads get hurt. Any news on Robo? It looked painful by the way he went down. I hope there's no serious damage. Ryan came all the way over only to take a good whack, and break a toe. When interviewed he sounded really positive about coming back over here, and having a proper go this time. He said he knew he partied too hard last time, and he seems more mature now. It's surely too late for him to do anything on the world stage, but he is a talented rider. With the right backing, he could be a really good signing for somebody. He's on a low average that could easily be improved...a lot!!! Titch was certainly in the wars. He took a few knocks, including the one that did the damage. I was with Nikki when he sent the message to say he's broken it. Sounds painful mate, hope it doesn't keep you off the bike too long. Final parting though - Thanks to my captors I had a great couple of days (Yes even today ). I'd go to Brighton again, because I love to see bike go sideways. How about you? -

Not really Kev. You see there's a problem. You are quoted in her siggy. Therefore, your objectivity must be called into question. -

That's a fantastic answer. I can't wait to see how long it takes for you to get a response. How bummed (And that's an Americanism ) will you be if nobody responds? -

Glad you answered first Sue. I was wondering why anyone would want updates on the pizza and ice cream? She'll be sober on the way down, so that should be okay. It might me an idea to follow at a safe distance on the way back though. You still planning to stay over Laura? -

Ditto that. I don't do pizza, so that's one less to worry about. Although, as far as I know there are two missing from the list. Laura is going with Kat and Sarah, actually they are going with her. -

Thanks. I thought you'd have gathered from my post on the other thread that I no longer believe in love, so that pretty much rules out soul mates too. Sorry mate. I think it'll probably be too much with everything else I've got to pay out, plus my other plans for any spare cash I can get my hands on. Oh well, there's always Lotto. -

Well as I write someone has been trying to convince me to make the long hard trek south for this one. How many of my hard earned £'s would I have to give up? -

She knows I'm only joking Jim. Well she should know. Chivs, there's no point both of us suffering. You keep her distracted, and I'll leg it.
