I think that's how we all feel Will. The meeeting needed to be fairly even on paper for it to grab the public attention. And to be fair to Swi I think they've done their best to put out four teams that are as closely matched as possible. I do think Swi have a slight advantage on paper, but it's close enough that another team could surprise them if they're not all on form. ----------------------------- Nice to see the show of support MD. Cheers mate. p.s. I've seen my message on Facebook but not got around to answering (home computer playing silly wotsits). Thanks for the messge. No probs, it's all just a bit of fun.

Well we're just about close enough to start looking at what the weather might be up to. And given the general pattern that is about to become established I feel confident that we should be okay. As of tomorrow high pressure parks itself over us and should bring a spell of settled/dry weather to much of the country. Though by next week it will probably be rather more cloudy than many of us will see between tomorrow and the weekend, perhaps into early next week. With the nights getting longer and the sun weaker any cloud (and any mist and fog that forms - primarily in rural locations) is harder to shift by day, and with high pressure in situ the winds will be relatively light so that won't shift it either. And it could start to feel cool early and late in the day.

Grand Prix Challenge.

In his defence - Brandon was always slick and generally 'iffy' back in the Cradley days, and it still can be now. Though it is much improved generally speaking. See what getting rid of Olsen can do for a track? Brilliant!! Let's get rid of Crump too as he can only stand still or get worse next season. I can see what you're saying about Adams having slipped down the order and that one day it will happen to Greg and Tomasz. But until the time comes nobody knows when that will happen. Did anyone predict Leigh would struggle so badly this season? Was he any more likely to have slipped down the order than Greg or Tomasz? Will Greg and/or Tomasz slip down the order next season or will they still be top 5 riders in the GP series? Is Nicki passed his best and should go or has he just been unlucky with ref calls, injury and a slight dip in form compared to the previous two seasons? ------------------------------------------------- Quick question for anyone thinking of going to Somerset because, if even in part, this meeting is too expensive. How much will your round trip cost you in fuel compared to going to Brandon? -

Oooooo you were going so well, then put me off at the last. -
There were some good races in the end, the pick probably being Stead going from last to first. But the most significant thing to come out of the racing was further evidence that for some unknown reason Olly is a magnet for other riders' mistakes. Screen and Batchelor came within a fraction of wiping him out of his big day. How can one rider be in the wrong place at the wrong time so often?! Crump, Lindgren and Holder were the pick of the bunch in terms of points and speed but I'll give MOTM to Barker for being the most entertaining rider on the day. Great to see so much money raised for Olly. Top marks to everyone that had that much money in their pockets and were prepared to part company with it.

I might regret this but I'll go with AJ this time please. -
With Swindon having Adams and Zagar in the line-up I would be very happy to see Grin and Hans turn out for Cradley if at all possible. Fingers crossed. The new line-up is really taking shape now and looks much stronger than originally. So, yes, a blessing in disguise. Though I would liike to go on record as being appreciative of all the efforts to get the original on and to the riders that were 'signed up'.

Great news that there's a spare date for this one (just need the weather to play ball). Nice to see a couple of big names being included as well (no disrespect meant to other riders). On a personal note the date should be better for me because there was a question mark over me getting off work in time last week. Mid-September should be okay.

Are you really suggesting riders remove all sponsorship and that Sky also remove sponsorship? --------------------------------------------- Looking forward to this. I've become something of an Olly Allen fan. In my opinion he's something of a success story for young Brits to look to. He showed some promise as a youngster, tried the EL but it didn't work out, moved back to the PL for experience and gain confidence, had another crack at the EL when many thought there was no chance he would be good enough (myself included) and hasn't looked back since joining the Bees 4 years ago. He's now a solid EL rider that causes some upsets from time-to-time.

I'd have said King over Kennett with Rico in would have been the way to go. But if Rico is ill then perhaps he has ruled himself out? I guess we'll see on that one if we need a team for the race-off. King is having a good season and I guess he's happier at the Showground than Kennett, though no doubt he (Kennett) is going to want to ride and will give it his all. -

1. Penhall 2. King 3. Hamill I understand what you're saying about Greg and Bill but the fact is that they were here at that time so should be included if people enjoyed their early career. Billy was always an entertainer, and later became my fave rider of the modern ear so I've got to include him. Penhall and King go ahead of him based on peaking during the period in question. -
You're right. For whatever reason Scott is struggling badly and seems so very very slow. In the last GP he made a cracking gate in one heat, didn't make a mistake but was last on the exit of turn two. Perhaps my post wasn't clear. His scores at Cov in the first two show that he hasn't completely lost it. The British number one is still lurking somewhere. What I meant was that if he were to start to reproduce that kind of form on every track between now and the SWC then it's a no-brainer in my opinion. An on-form Nicholls is a must. I take your point on Kennett. I'd be tempted to give King a shot though. He's in cracking form this season and is a bit of a track specialist compared to our other options.

Pedersen for me please. Gotta fancy Super-Nicki for a spot of revenge. -
Genuine question - When was the last time Nicholls wasn't top Brit in the end of EL season averages? If Nicholls starts to ride as he has in the two meetings at Brandon (GSA 10.22 and CMA 11.11) then he has to be in the team. Anyone calling for him to be left out on that form would look foolish. If he keeps having dodgy/crap meetings then perhaps it would be better for him as much as the team if he were removed from the spot light. I always think you should put out your best team. Nicholls Richardson Harris Bridger King Kennett - only because he admits he doesn't like P'brgh and King has looked good. Switch these two if it were any other track.

No, realistically Greg isn't going to get another one. He had his chance at a second a couple of years ago when finishing second. But he can't quite put a full season together. On his day he's still as good as anyone out there, but he always has a day like last week in him too. A bit unlucky but that's the way it goes. He's got one and nobody can take that away. I fancy AJ to have a bit of a charge for the title this season. I've long since said that if he gets off to a good start (half a season) in the GPs he's got a real chance. There's no denying he's got more talent than most of them as some of his rides show, particularly in the SWC at times. It always seems that others want it more. If he gets to Cardiff, where he's generally gone well, with a good points haul he might just start to realise he's got a shot and go for it. Too true. The GP tracks are absolutely crap most of the time.
