  1. You were there and my comment is based purely on what has been said. Where a person is watching from can make a huge difference to what they see and I say having been a steward in Stock Car racing. I once had a very close finish to a major championship where my view made me make one decision but thankfully I looked at two different video views which both showed things that I could not see from race control and I was able to make an informed decision. A speedway referee is not always in the best position to make a decision depending on where on the track an incident takes place. Speedway referees don't have the help of videos so they can only call what they think they have seen with no help. We all like close, competitive racing but brings with it the increased chance of incidents like the one between Worrall and Edwards. Depends on where we are watching from and possibly who we support on how we view any incident. The important thing is that the riders are not injured in any crash and we can continue to enjoy watching them entertain us while they try to earn a living.
  2. So it appears that Edwards taken off by Worrall due to Worrall turning for the bend. Edwards could not turn right or leave turning for the bend as that would put him in the fence. Worrall had to turn when he did as if he kept going straight he would have hit the fence and taken Edwards with him. Given where they were on the track it is my understanding of the rules that Worrall is allowed to ride the line he wishes and from the various comments above it seems he stuck to an inside line which is the reasonable way to race. Maybe with more experience Edwards would not have put himself in the position he was and would therefore have avoided the crash. A simple case where two riders racing lines cross paths and in that situation the rider who is behind is the one who will be deemed to be the cause of any crash.
  3. Shame that the BSPL website headlines this meeting as being Birmingham v Plymouth! They have at least got the write up correct.
  4. A simple solution to all of the fixture problems/fiddles is to make it a condition of entry to the leagues that all teams have to provide a list of dates when they are able to run home meetings. A central independent panel would then issue a fixture list and any team who failed to organise any fixture they had been given would be deducted 4 league points. The fixture would then be reissued and a second failure would be a 6 point deduction. The signing of riders who are not available due to riding elsewhere would not be a reason for postponing a meeting and only rider replacement would be used. Any meeting postponed due to weather or stadium lighting failing or fences being broken would be run with the riders who were available on the original date to stop teams postponing so their star will be available on the new date. The howls of protest during the first year from promotions who couldn't fiddle things would soon die down and we might find teams filled with riders who don't only ride here when they can't find a better pay day elsewhere. Poland, quite rightly, look after their leagues and it is time we did the same. Our top two leagues now have headline sponsors and the BSPL need to look after the businesses who are supporting British Speedway. Premiership riders contracts must have a clause which says they are available for all Monday and Thursday fixtures from 1st March to 31st October. Equally Championship riders must confirm their availability for all dates their team could be expected to race on for the whole season. If a rider will not sign to race for every fixture their team is racing then thank them for their interest and find a rider who will commit themselves to their team. I fully understand that the above is not possible for probably two or three years but the first moves need to be made before next season and a clear published plan needs to be in place AND followed to the letter with none of the usual BSPL five year plan nonsense where they are dropped after one season.
  5. I pray that you are right and the new track is a massive success.
  6. I just hope it is not like Skegness. The opening meeting was the first and last time Skegness had a good crowd. From then on the weather played a major role which was a great shame.
  7. Strange that the gate was so badly damaged that it made running Speedway impossible but the Stock Cars finished their meeting with all races running their planned distance!
  8. The FA had been wanting to get rid of the speedway for a few years after a BriSCA F1 Stock Car did an end over end roll across the centre leaving the football pitch looking like a ploughed field! I don't think the FA understood that speedway bikes don't do that sort of thing.
  9. Perhaps they could travel somewhere else and park legally for once!
  10. Ronnie Moore will be revolving in his grave at team riding like that!
  11. Hope is not far from Manchester and they already have the National Speedway Stadium!
  12. I remember back in the 1960s at Wimbledon, Ove Fundin was always booed whenever he visited Plough Lane. No one got worked up about it.
  13. The revised fixture list for IOW Warriors is now on their website.
  14. Does the Plymouth promotion own the stadium? If that is the reason SCB/BSPL have been able to stop NORA92 league racing then the Plymouth promotion need to sell to a company set up to run the stadium which they can totally control while still saying it is not them who are hiring the stadium out!
  15. I once interviewed Steve Schofield at Hackney for Race Video and we had to get him to stand two steps up on the terraces!
  16. It is also interesting that Iwade are still running meetings but maybe the difference is who owns the stadium!
  17. The press release from Warriors Shale Track Club says that the Plymouth promotion have told them that they cannot hire the stadium due to pressure from SCB. I will alter my original post to SCB instead of BSPL who I still suspect are behind this.
  18. So Plymouth have been forced out of running NORA92 racing by the BSPL! How come they allow NORA events at Scunthorpe and many other tracks? Is this a case of not being able to run a p*ss up in a brewery and not wanting to be shown up?
  19. They would probably still have to use Rider Replacement!
  20. I agree 100% but that would mean all the fiddles got stopped and according to the BSPL that would not be in the best interests of speedway!
