With Ivan's sad passing I, and a great many others now call on Peter Collins and indeed the club to end their differences. It is a cliché, but as we all know life is too short.
-
RIP Ivan Mauger, the greatest bar none and an Aces legend. There will never be another like him.

I have had a look around at the new BV website and it is quite disappointing. The history section which was excellent, has disappeared, especially considering we celebrate our 90th season this season. It is something of a backward step IMO.

I bought the March 24th edition of the SS for the first time in a very long time and I have to say I was not impressed. I bought it for the BV anniversary article and I have to say it was not even nearly indepth enough, and it seemed it only scratched the surface on the 90 year history of the club.

It was indeed a great shame that PC, for whatever reason, was not at the meeting on Saturday. He and the club should get together and settle their differences and end this silly disagreement, as every single BV and indeed speedway fan would have liked to see Peter involved with the sport that he has served so well during his illustrious career as Britain's most successful ever speedway rider. Speedway is the poorer without PC involved.

Peter Collins Article

It is way out of order that posters on this forum are slagging off an Aces and British legend (the most successful British racer ever by way of world championship honours) who has perhaps not enjoyed the best of health. These people seem to me to be the kind that laugh at the disabled. Serious illnesses can and do change the way people view life. PC is one of my heroes and I would love to see him attend the NSS regularly and speedway is poorer for not having PC there. So PC if you are reading this by some quirk of fate, settle your differences with whoever and come on down to the NSS, as 99% of genuine Aces fans would be absolutely delighted to see you there. -
The old saying is that you can only beat what is put in front of you. The Aces deserved to win on Monday, no question. On the subject of the play off semi finals over the two legs, lady luck smiled on Wolves. In both legs, Rohan Tungate had two engine failures while on a 5-1, turning two 5-1's into 3-3's, a difference of some eight points. Over the two legs, that was the difference between the two teams, barring injuries which both teams suffered from.

What a great meeting it was last night, excellent racing from both teams and commiserations to Wolves who certainly made us fight. The two men of the match were for me Dan Bewley who's heat 11 defeat of Scotty was sensational, and Jack Smith who secured a vital point in heat 14, although all the team chipped in and in the end we fully deserved to lift the trophy. Now it is over to the Colts tomorrow to clinch the title and hopefully the cup as well in due course. Aces/Colts til I die.

Fantastic performance from the boys tonight, especially Tungate and the future world champ Bewley. A very entertaining meeting as well. Was in stitches when the announcer played Burn baby burn disco inferno when EP's bike set on fire. Bring on the Pirates next week. -

What a good win for The Aces tonight. Three big points, should have been four really as we let them off the hook so to speak. Everyone did their bit and it was a well deserved victory, no question. -
Search Peter Collins on Wikipedia. There you will see the facts.

Tai the finest rider Britain has produced?. I do not think so. So he has been world champion twice, but what else has he won?. Diddly squat, that's what. I am in agreement with most on this forum that someone who can be arsed to ride for their country with pride should be chosen. It is as simple as that.

Belle Vue V Leicester 21/4/17 7.30pm

When I saw the teams and after heat 12 I thought we were going to lose this match. Leicester were considerably strengthened whilst The Aces were weakened without Yogi. We dug deep and all the boys played their part, especially young Dan Bewley who for me, was the matchwinner with a top ride in heat 14. This team does not know when they are beat and I am so proud of them. Well done to The Aces and also well done to Leicester who fully deserved their point. Aces til I die. -

I am going to forecast a BV KL play off final this season with Poole and Wolves contesting the semis. For me Poole are banking on KK and HA being consistently good. I have my doubts as both can be very hit and miss and should the track be a little wet or heavy KK in particular will not be interested. For me I think it will be our season this time around. -
There is a sense of optimism around the club this year. The new management are doing all the right things, the mascot is pretty cool and has a great name, Chase The Ace. I noticed the photos of the mascot did not have a race bib/body colour call it what you will, does this mean we are reverting to the classic Ace Of Clubs and getting rid of the horrible chequered thing? . I hope so. Aces til I die.

I have just seen on FB that BV have signed Kenneth Bjerre.

When I hear comments from people at work about the cost of watching live Speedway and from reading comments on here, I am incensed at what I hear and read. When people ask me how much admission is at BV and other tracks they are astounded. I ask them why?, how much do/would you pay to watch say City/United whoever. Forty or fifty quid they say. Then they go silent. A number of years ago (probably eight years ago) I secured a seat to watch my beloved Liverpool play City at the Etihad and it cost me £45, I felt ripped off as the match flew by before my eyes. I steadfastly believe that admission to watch Speedway is very cheap. If you want your club to survive, you have to pay for it. On the subject of SS my guess is the viewing figures are around the 100k mark. A number of years ago a very knowledgeable fan friend of mine told me that every Elite League track pays the Russells 20% of the income they receive in advertising, which when considered that the income from advertising will be quite small 20% is a huge chunk to take, for not a lot of work. The only people making money in Speedway are the Russells. Speedway will be the better without them.
