Lack of fixtures in summer didnt help but we lost alot of fans before that last season? The town board sold on the lease who knows a promoter might have got a better deal before the 2 people who couldnt get their new stadium spat the dummy and then ripped the track up !

Have often thought who pays out more on vans etc to riders alot seem to sign to championship clubs then double up?

U could say that about alot of clubs,what goes around comes around, if a club reports a loss of a £ 100,000 in a season does that not make them riddled with debt?

I wouldnt pay that to watch a GP unless i got a royal box far away from the people who like to get up walk infront of u every 5 mins to go to bar or whatever, watch on tv with sound off for me .

In london last weekend went to see ticket prices for a show was quoted £192 so speedway is good value .

Town didnt get the new stadium they wanted built at no expence to them so took it out on the comets making sure no one could come in and take over, no time for mark fryer who was to blame am never going to watch town again its haven for me now lol

Was at derwent park helping alan middleton when he got a telegram off a rider who couldnt make it , i think it was the charlie williams meeting anyway he rang big Arthur browning after 3 pm can u get here tonight no probs came the answer and off he comes from the birmingham area in less than 4 hrs , can u see any off todays " stars" doing that!

We were brought up in the comets early days with each rider having a " childish name" its part of the entertainment. Glamour boy lou sansom wildman vic londsdale firery aussie mal mackay etc it sticks in kids minds long may it go on .

Nice look back to the fantastic 1976 comets in the "ss" this week , steve lawson shows a true gentleman he is saying how much pride he has in both his sons.
