I will come with u , the number of times i have passd ivan on the last corner at wembley only to be woken up by the alarm clock lol i have to give it a go
The last 2 meetings drew crowds over 1000 so the support was still their, and i would argue over those fiqures for town, i used to go and it was never twice the comets crowd.
the track at derwent park was ripped up so those (398) people could watch some sunday league teams play football while a new stadium was going to be built with an 8000 capacity for those 398 and maybe a100 extra for the rugby.thankfully a change of council stopped it , but and chances some other promoter might have taken over went with the track. For me a change of rugby team to the dreaded "haven " in the future town wont see my money again .
Good read again but on the piece about the run off for the cup in 73 much is made about collins having his clutch on the throttle side yet in the pic am sure u can see the lever and cable on the left!
One of the good things about derwent park was the view looking in the pits, no finer start to the night than standing watching 14 bikes being warmed up with the noise and smell, i used to go look in pits between races it made the night special .
Good luck boys from someone who couldnt run 50 yards never mind 5km a day will be supporting u.£2000 lets try £20,000 a simple £1from everyfan can make a hell of a difference.
Who knew that night as we walked out we would never walk in again, even though am a rugby fan will never watch town again after the board ripped up the track, its up the haven for me now .
A football player can have a benefit match ( cant spell test*****) and doesnt pat tax yet a poor coach driver gets stung for tax on any tips he might get lol , just saying.
In ian thomas book he tells the storey of a comets rider getting worried about taking a test after being promised a night to remember by a local lass and he
took some "pills" to help him on his way
