I agree with you - individual meetings can provide some decent racing, but from a fans viewpoint one off individual meetings can give you that feeling of "Well done to Mr X for winning that - but so what?". At international level the Grand Prix system has proved popular (up to a point). If you support a Premiership or Championship team, would you like it if each club staged one round of a Premiership or Championship Rider Grand Prix series? Personally I would find that quite attractive.

Rye House v Belle Vue - 20.06.18

Rob, your posts on here have made very interesting reading. You are clearly still very passionate about British speedway - I hope that continues to be the case in the future! -
Fair play to you, Stevebrum. I have enjoyed reading Rob McCaffery's posts but I feel he may have rather over-reacted to yours.

I would love to see a return to One Big League (I even like that as a title for it!). A full and varied league fixture list - maybe a knockout cup regionalised in it's early stages - maybe a four-legged 4 team tournament with your 3 nearest local rivals...as you say, Rob, just imagine...

Rye House v Belle Vue - 20.06.18

I agree with you both, KevtheRev and Chris. As fans, when we see our team struggling it is only natural that we have conversations amongst ourselves where we suggest what team changes could be made. But as we do so, we look around the track and we don't see thousands of paying punters. As you guys have said, if Jenson or Shroek were to say "We'd like to make changes but there ain't no money" or "We are looking at possible changes, bear with us for now", it would be appreciated. -
Premiership - Swindon v Rye House • 14/06/18

RH now have Ashley Morris in place of Matej Kus. -
We can only hope you are correct! Better still, that the deal has already been agreed. (I'm going to look a right mug tomorrow night when Clegg outscores Kus)
-
I can't imagine many would disagree. He's a great rider at NL level and may do a decent job for a Championship team, but I don't think struggling in the Premiership is helping his development at present.
-
So, the re-declared team is KK 7.78, Nicholls 7.75, Harris 6.92, Robson 5.80, Summers 5.44, NBJ 5.00, Clegg 2.00 (total 40.69, 1.81 within the limit.) Useful to have NBJ at reserve, but surely he will be missing the Wednesday meetings?

Unlikely (but not impossible) that Jakobsen will be in the RH team as his 28 days are up. Stuart Robson should be back - he rode for his Championship club last week. Also, won't KK be at No 1 for RH with the latest averages in effect? Maybe one of the 2 clubs will give us the answers soon. -
Based on his Championship average, I would reckon 4.85

Kings Lynn vs Rye House June 18th
Chairboy replied to Star Lady's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I must say I have been surprised that a promoter of Mr Chapman's experience would go with a home fixture on this date. Some clashes with major televised football events are unavoidable, but as Speedball says, not in this case. -
Am I also right in thinking that if RH were to replace him with guests on a match-by-match basis, they can only bring in someone up to Kennett's present average (5.27)?
-
Thanks Najjer

I see a new list of Green Sheet Averages dated 4 June drops Aaron Summers down to 5.44. Can I just say at this point that I worked for 30+ years in the finance industry, and was pretty good at my job. Nevertheless, I am never confident that I have the required level of intelligence to understand fully how speedway averages work. So perhaps someone can help me out here?! I'm assuming that Edward Kennett will be out of action for some time, and that Rye House will be looking to replace him. With KK on 7.78, Nicholls 7.75, Harris 6.92, Robson (assuming he comes back) 5.80, Summers 5.44, Clegg 2.00, that gives a total (without Kennett) of 35.69. Am I right in thinking this means RH have up to 6.81 to replace Kennett?

Kings Lynn vs Rye House June 18th

Thanks for the info, Star Lady - always useful to know about these things in advance. If you'll forgive me for going slightly off topic, do any King's Lynn fans on here think the attendance for this fixture could be adversely affected by England's World Cup football match being on TV at 7pm the same evening? -
Barker got smashed up at Sheffield last Thursday

Rye House V Leicester Lions 11/04/2018
Chairboy replied to JamesM09's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
RH v Leicester abandoned after 8 of the scheduled 15 heats. Keep your tickets for reduced admission to a future meeting! 50% off, maybe? No, 20% on the grounds that the result would have stood after 10 heats. "You couldn't make it up" -
I'm not usually one to make negative comments (so now you know one is coming) - we all realise no-one is making money from speedway in this country, we should be grateful for any track continuing to run, etc...but... RH have achieved something that I wouldn't have believed possible. They have actually made the 'stadium' worse. That monstrosity of wooden planks held together with iron bars near the start line has to be a late April Fool joke, surely? And I do hope the ArenaCross(?) track in the middle brings in some decent money, because from a speedway fan's point of view, it makes the place look dreadful.
-
It may well be that the BSPA made an error in giving Clegg the 2 point average, and if that's the case they deserve to be criticised for it. But no fault can be attached to RH, surely? What's done is done. It's not as if the error (if that's what it is) was published just for a day or two and then corrected. It's been on the SGB website for months, and it's still there now. I'm glad I'm not a speedway promoter for many reasons (!) - but I have to say, if I were Steve Jenson and the BSPA were to refuse his team at this stage, when he has done nothing wrong, my reaction would inevitably be to ask myself "why am I bothering with all this?".
-
Genuine question - How/when do we find out that a team has been ratified (or not)?
-
RH haven't made the figure up themselves - it's on the Final Version of the 2017 Greensheet Averages. It's on the SGB website now, as it has been for some time. Aren't these the figures we are supposed to use?
