  1. Hope you are right, Jayne. There is no need to falsify results..it does nothing to improve any actual racing...
  2. Well said...As a fan of many years, I like to see clubs finding their own riders like they did in years gone by.Bowtell and Hunter will come good.

  3. Followed the Hammers at Kent and I was surprised to see the base of the track showing through after only 3 or 4 races. But it didn't seem to affect our riders and none of the top end of either team seemed to be in trouble . Good win but I don't know about the track. Hurt the lower end of the Kings more than us so I hope it's the same when we go back there in the League !
  4. David Mason is never going to be a Number One and no one should expect that from him. He is very reliable for 6/8 points and every team needs riders like that if they are to win. He is not spectacular, but he replaces that with reliability. He also happens to be very well equipped and good with the young fans so I think the critics should shut up and be happy that he is on our side. I think Kent will miss him this year
  5. I am delighted that the N.L. dispensed with the ludicrous TR and double points. A winning score is a winning score and should not be artificially altered. The other leagues should follow suit now that Sky are not there to influence. I hope that no one considers bring back the Tactical Substitute rule...always brought in for heat 8 to give a top rider an easy win over inferior opposition and leaving a rider who really needs the ride ( and poss points) ie, the reserve, without the money. Years ago at Hackney where I was a regular, match after match was lost by a heat 8 T/S . Good riddance to that rule.
  6. Eastie are becoming front runners already and unless the Hammers can find a decent reserve to replace Laurence who has been around for decades without improvement, we will not be challenging them.
  7. The Cradley away match will be interesting. They look a very tough side on paper, but have already lost at home. Big test for us.
  8. Have to agree with those comments by Waco. Laurence needs to be replaced by a youngster with a bit of a future. Kent have unearthed Spooner who is getting better each meeting and Lakeside need to find someone like him. With the Martin Hagon school I would have thought that he might have found a decent kid. Good result though and it was curious that Kent had so many riders falling off as the track seemed fine.
  9. Kings fans must be feeling a bit sorry for themselves after the Sunday and Monday results. I don't read too much into them myself....it's early days and lots can change over the coming weeks. I hope plenty of Kent's best will arrive at Lakeside on Friday...will be a very good meeting I think with the Hammer to take victory by a small margin....
  10. The meeting to celebrate Bryn's life in Speedway deserves to be a success...Another "brownie Point" for the IOW management who just keep getting things right....
  11. Looks like a close call to me fro Friday. The Hammers did well to win Monday and the reserves will decide the result again. Hope that the M25 traffic doesn't affect the crowd, but at least the roadworks at Junc 30 are complete. Believe that Paul Hurry will ride for us....wouldn't be allowed in a league match so will Kent object when they arrive ? Can't see anyone beating him. Does anyone know if Stoneman is fit to ride for Kent ?
  12. Great that BT picked up the Sky contract...if that is what happened...I enjoy some TV speedway BUT it has not got the appeal of actually being there and the gates have not increased since TV started showing live speedway. So I hope BT are making up the probable income loss from armchair viewers like I am sometimes.
  13. Too early to judge what this Rockets team will achieve. Looked very promising pre-season with lots of enthusiasm...so what's happened ? A good first home win then a loss....it happens...don't panic. Watt cannot be that bad. He had a good Winter in Oz and I just think a bit of patience might be the thing to do....
  14. Track conditions will decide the result. If it has as little dirt as last week..Poole will take all the points.
