  1. The majority from the actual racecards in the programmes. They were all 100% right at the time, and I have absolutely nothing to suggest any were amended afterwards
  2. All confirmed as correct scores from 1997 programmes.
  3. Ivan Mauger rode at Wembley many times. He may have even won a title or two there. (If only there was a reliable website written in English that you could consult to find out the correct information about Ivan's Wembley appearances!). You might also like to google for some information that explains the world-wide-web to you, with particular reference to how discussion forums progress and evolve from original threads. You might care to research how it is bad internet etiquette to keep opening new topics for similar discussions concerning the individual webpages of a naff and irrelevent error-strewn website badly written in HTML from the 1990s.
  4. Based on your previous contributions, I can actually believe you don't have the requisite thinking skills to understand the post. Meanwhile, you can find Wembley under the section of "Tracks Who Is Name Starts With W" on the self-same grammatically mangled excuse of a so-called website which we are discussing in this thread. In fact every letter of the Alphabet has the same "Who's/Whose" cock-up on this error-strewn Stanley Unwin-esque excuse for a website that you embarassingly seem so keen to promote.
  5. Good news. Julie, Kym and Debbie are now described as Ivan's children. So at least Kym has regained his male status. Ivan however is still alive until April 2019. Meanwhile over the the "Tracks who is name starts with B" page, it appears that the Belle Vue Aces rode in the "Amateur League" in 1997 and haven''t been seen since. The Belle Vue Colts rode in the Elite league in 1997, The National League in 2011 and MDL in 2012...but haven't been seen since either. The National Speedway Stadium doesn't exist.
  6. Well, Trevor "Readman" seems to have been changed to Trevor "Redman"..... Still doesn't seem to have any connection to the Wembley promoter Trevor Redmond though.
  7. Saw this and assumed someone had confused January 1st with April 1st. But now I'm starting to think it's not a joke and it actually is for real. I've always thought that Plymouth Devils was a decent enough nickname, but if it wanted a change it could draw on the City's history for inspiration (being the place the Pilgrim Fathers departed from, it's association with Francis Drake, the home of Europe's biggest naval base, etc etc). With all of these options, "Gladiators" seems a bit naff. And worse still "Plymouth Colosseum"??? Really? Plymouth Speedway is a nice little place, but that's what it is... a nice little set-up on a school's playing field. Not quite the Colosseum. And can I query the spelling in the press release. It says "coliseum". Surely if they're portraying themselves as gladiators then they mean the "Colosseum" in Rome? As far as I know Gladiators fought at the Colosseum.... the "coliseum" is a theatre in Oldham where you're more likely to see Christopher Biggins in panto dressed as a dame. p.s. Will Ben Wilson change his name to Ben Hur?
  8. And Bruce Penhall didn't win the 1985 world final, Erik Gunderson did. And Penhall's Wembley World final win wasn't 48 years after Jack Milne won. It was 44 years. Milne won in 1937 not 1933. As I remember it, the 1970 Wembley promoter was Trevor Redmond, not Trevor Readman. And I'm guessing "Brain" Leonard may have been the more intelligent brother of a chap called Brian. Very poor and outdated website riddled with errors.
  9. The reduction in the number of teams from 10 to 8 is as much responsible for a lack of places for last years riders as the limit reduction is. But you are correct that there will be an inflation in all riders averages once the first set of new Green Sheets are issued. The team average will rise from 36 to 42, so a mean increase of 16.7% It is likely that a 6.00 rider will increase his average to 7.00 and then could be replaced by a (last year's) 7.00 rider who is really worth 8.16 in new money. The only way I can think of to counter this is to increase the average of any rider from last year, who doesn't start this year, by 16% if joining a team after the new averages are out.
  10. I remember vividly kids going to school with their heads painted purple with Gentian Violet because they had ringworm... Happy days.
  11. And the award for "most bizarre re-opening of a dead 18-month-old thread, to post a link to an even more ancient and outdated naff-looking excuse for a website" goes to.....
  12. Cradley have been caught out the same as King's Lynn with their Robert Lambert announcement. They set up announcements for tomorrow expecting the Christmas post to cause delays with the Speedway Star, but there have been no delays and we've all got the Speedway Star today as normal, so the news is out a day earlier than they planned.
  13. I can understand impatience to know the team, but I don't see why some people make it an obssession and then go all gloom and doom just because they don't know who the riders are yet. It's the same 7 riders whether they get announced today or 31st March. No one can see them ride until April, and you don't win any prizes for being the first club to unveil your full team.
  14. Could well be right for Kent. I don't know any Kent riders. But the little experience I've had with lower level NL riders at various other tracks says that £10-£15 is reserve level. Second strings around £15, and £20/£25 for heat-leaders. 15p a mile seems standard travel for all. I've never heard of a NL signing-on fee, and you'd be lucky to get a tyre for every meeting, although I know some do have tyre sponsors.
  15. Unless Kent are paying way above the few other clubs I've had experience of, I'd say those figures are very much on the high side.
  16. Bloody hell you are confused. Can't you read back on the thread where I've already told you several times? I'm sure you're not daft enough to think there are two Dan Bewleys. The Dan Bewley who rode in the two meetings above is the exact same Dan Bewley who had already previously made his NL debut by winning his first ever competitve ride when debuting for the Belle Vue Colts in the NL.
  17. Like I keep saying. (See above). His first competitive ride was in the NL. He won his first ever competitive race in heat 2 for the Belle Vue Colts. He did then go on loan to Edinburgh (second tier). His top flight debut was the following year.
  18. No. He made his NL debut by winning his first ever competitive race (heat 2 for the Colts). He went on loan to Edinburgh in 2nd division very quickly afterwards. The following year (2017) he made his PL debut with the Aces.
  19. You've got that completely arse about face. Dan Bewley was a very good youth motocrosser who had never sat on a speedway bike until Steve Lawson let him have a go round his farm during the winter. Belle Vue got wind of him and went to a few winter series meetings at Scunthorpe with him that winter, before signing him. When he lined up for his first NL heat of his debut season it was his first ever competitive race. In contrast Kyle Bickley had little or no motocross experience, but rode grasstrack from a very early age and came through the youth speedway route.
  20. With his record of not turning up and moving clubs, I think it will only be a temporary wall.... You won't see this Wall linger.
  21. A strong top two for the Islanders, but looks like they're missing a third heat-leader a bit. RTD and Danno Verge will probably do enough at home to cover 3rd heat leader between them, and they shouldn't lose at home. Likely to be lacking away though. Similarly the reserves will probably do ok with the home advantage of the huge IOW track once they get settled in, but may struggle on their travels.
  22. Georgie Wood to Isle of Wight. Good signing. Goes well round Smallbrook
  23. Can't imagine Paul Burnett riding with his fractured leg. Kelsey Dugard fits though on 3.35
