I would guess Clydesdale bank is the new leaseholder of the stadium. Warren Scott seems to have resigned all his directorships of various companies, and a Robert Scott has been appointed as a director instead. Warren Scott is still showing as the main (sole) shareholder of Carter & Bailey Ltd, which I believe is Rye House Speedway, but Clydesdale Bank have a fixed and floating charge over the whole of the property, assets and rights of the company.

If i were a rider, I think I'd be going slower in qualifying. I believe this will give a much bigger advantage. Let's assume it's September. We're getting to the latter stages of the GP series. Tai Woffinden leads the standings....a couple of points clear of Bartosz Zmarzlik. If I were Zmarzlik I'd definitely want to be going slower than Woffy in qualifying. Why? Well, Woffy blasts round. He's the fastest qualifier. He has the "advantage" of first pick. He's going to pick one of the starting numbers that gives him 2 inside gates. He's happy. But as Zmarzlik, I wanted him to pick first. Because what I'm I going to do now? I'm going to look which race Woffy has the worst gate in...maybe that's gate 3 or gate 4. And I'm going to pick the draw number that puts me in that same race, off gate 1. Being further down the pecking order could be the biggest advantage. You can see where your closest rivals are positioned, and make sure that you have the favourable gate when you meet them.

Since he rode in the Conference League for Wolves, I would assume he has dual British/Australian nationality. He was certainly born in Wales as I said.

I believe Nathan Stoneman is Welsh, as was Kevin Price. Wasn't Glyn Taylor also born in Wales? Had to laugh at the idea of Nicky Mallett as a suggestion for favourite Welsh rider. Would he ever come in a list of favourite anything? Maybe "favourite suspected arsonist (never proven)"?

Erm Speedway is a historical activity. It has a 90 year history. They could hardly use the posters of Craig Cook, Matej Zagar and co.,( as used in Waterloo Road), because Grantchester is set in the 1950s. Waterloo Raod is set in the present day, hence present day speedway posters. Grantchester is set in the 50s, hence the 50s posters. The football references in Grantchester will be to Stanley Matthews, not Lionel Messi.

The track is actually about 7 or 8 miles inland from Eastbourne, between Polegate and Hailsham. If you need to stay close to the track I think there's a Travelodge or Premier Inn (or both) pretty close by. But if you're in a car, it's only a 10-15 minute drive between the track and Eastbourne seafront, so you might as well stay in Eastbourne and make a bit of a holiday of it. There's a wide variety of hotels, although being peak holiday season in July I'm not sure how many would take a booking if you only want one night. I'd say have a search of the internet or Eastbourne Tourist Information, and see what suits your pocket/needs.

If Taylour was at New Cross in 1948 it's doubtful any speedway fans would be aware of her Fascist past and her idolisation of the Nazis and Adolf Hitler. In its article in December 2003 the Irish Times noted " Amazingly, when she resumed her racing career after the war, this unsavoury episode was airbrushed out of all her publicity. The file on her in the Alexandra College library has many cuttings about her from all over the world, but nowhere is there a mention of the trouble that her extreme right-wing political beliefs got her into. " Of course MI5 files released in modern times show what a nasty piece of work she was. She was imprisoned in 1940 for her support for the British Union of Fascists. She appealed against imprisonment, but lost the appeal in August 1940. The MI5 files include some of Taylour's intercepted correspondence, including some that she managed to smuggle out of prison to avoid the censor. In one letter to a friend, she said: "I love Nazi Germany and the German people and their leader and this war seems terribly unfair." The Home Office released her from prison, against the advice of the Security Services, in October 1943 on condition that she left the UK and stayed in Ireland. In the minuting leading up to this decision in June 1943 Taylour is described as "...one of the worst pro-Nazis in Port Erin...she is in the habit of hoarding pictures of Hitler and had in her possession a hymn in which his name was substituted for God's." In 1944 she was in Ireland, staying at the headquarters of the Girls' Friendly Society in Upper Merrion Street, Dublin. By 1947, she was working for a Dublin company selling farm harvest machinery. She was also into farming herself at this stage, but in 1949, she was lured away again by speed, cars and glamour. She had an offer from a US car dealer to go and work for him in Hollywood selling Jaguars and MGs and she couldn't pass up the chance of meeting so many stars.

The previous poster asked for your opinion of Mike Bast. I posted a link which clearly showed your opinion was that Mike Bast was (and i quote) a "Leg - End".

If the Aces got a crowd 5 to 6 times that of Colts (2,500-3,000) then there would be no problems. Sadly, I think you're way over-estimating the Aces crowd. I doubt it's more than half what you think it is.

Seems that Stoke are looking for another rider as they have just realised that Paul Burnett fractured his leg over a month ago before they announced his signing. Thought it was very strange that they announced his signing while he was laid up with a bad fracture. Anyway, they've finally caught on and issued this statement.... STOKE’S pre-season injury jinx has struck for a second season with Paul Burnett being ruled out due to breaking his leg in an accident at work. Potters promoter Dave Tattum commented “It was great knowing we had our team in place and then I had a phone call off Paul informing us that he’d been injured at work. We then waited a little while awaiting outcomes from the hospital and Paul has now had to have an external fixator fitted to his leg resulting in there being no chance of him being fit to race by the start of the season. All of us here at Stoke send our best wishes for a speedy recovery to Paul.”

It makes the sport look unprofessional when a paid administrator is allowed to put out a statement with schoolboy spelling and grammatical mistakes. Can't the SCB run to a spellchecker? Would the administrator of the F.A. put out a football statement riddled with errors? I know some will say this is only a forum, so making lots of spelling mistakes is unimportant, but it's a forum which can be read by all (including sponsors). If Jason Pipe is just posting as himself, then that's not quite so bad, but when he's signing the post as "NL Co-ordinator", then it should be more professional.
